Abstract

The problem of toddler nutrition in Indonesia is still high. Bandung Regency ranks third highest in terms of toddler nutrition problems. Poor nutritional status in toddlers can hinder physical growth and cognitive development, and make them more susceptible to disease. In addition, the completeness of immunizations and visits by mothers to health posts remain low. Low coverage of basic immunizations and regular visits to health posts are contributing factors to this issue. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the completeness of basic immunizations and maternal visits to health posts with infantnutrition status. The study design is quantitative with a case-control design. The study population is all infants aged 12–59 months in Hegarmanah Village, with a sample size of 66 infants divided into case (malnourished) and control (well-nourished) groups. The sampling technique used simple random sampling. Data collection utilized observation forms, KIA books, and anthropometric measurement tools. Results analysis using the chi-square test showed between the completeness of basic immunization and the nutritional status of infants with a p-value< α (0.05), as well as between mothers' visits to the health post and the nutritional status of infants with a p-value < α (0.05). Infants who did not receive complete basic immunization were 3.75 times more likely to experience malnutrition, and infants whose mothers did not actively visit the posyandu were 3 times more likely to experience malnutrition. Strategic steps are needed to increase community interest and motivationfor regular posyandu visits and to complete immunization.

Abstract

Pain caused by immunization procedures often leads to anxiety, fear, and even trauma in children, potentially affecting their adherence to the immunization schedule. Shotblocker is a simple device based on the Gate Control Theory, which reduces pain perception through tactile stimulation. This study aimed to determine the effect of Shotblocker use on pain scores among two-month-old infants receiving intramuscular immunization. A quasi-experimental design with a posttest-only control group was employed on 80 infants, divided into an intervention group (with Shotblocker) and a control group (without Shotblocker). Pain was assessed using the FLACC scale. The results showed that the mean pain score in the intervention group was 3.57 (SD = 0.879), while in the control group it was 6.48 (SD = 0.727). An independent sample t-test indicated a significant difference between the groups (p < 0.05). These findings demonstrate that Shotblocker significantly reduces pain intensity in infants following intramuscular immunization. Shotblocker may serve as a safe and effective non-pharmacological tool to improve pediatric comfort.

Abstract

The postpartum period is a critical transition period for the mother, baby and family both psychologically, emotionally, and socially. During psychological adaptation, a women will adjust to her role as parent (mother). Changes during the postpartum period can contribute to happiness but can also cause emotional stress. This period can be a risk factor for triggering complications baby blues. Based on BKKBN data in 2024, as many as 57% of mothers in indonesia experienced symptoms baby blues, namely mild depression after childbirth. This percentage makes indonesia a country with a high risk of baby blues the highest in asia. This research method is descriptive research with a sample of 40 respondents. The results of the distribution based on age are 38 respondents age 20-35 years (95%), the number og multiparous parity is 21 people (52,5%). Distribution based on education there are 18 postpartum mothers who are high school graduates (45%). Distribution based occupation there are 21 respondents as housewives (52,5%). Baby blues is more experienced by mothers in young adulthood with multiparous status, secondary education level, and do not work outside the home. Suggestions for midwives are able to perform early detection of postpartum mothers who have the potential to experience baby blues.

Abstract

Adolescent sexual behavior has emerged as a critical issue in public health, particularly in the digital era and amid rapid social change. This study aimed to examine the influence of family factors, namely parenting style and parental marital status, as well as environmental factors, especially peer influence, on adolescent sexual behavior in Pekalongan Regency, 2025. A quantitative research design with a cross-sectional approach was employed. The study population included high school students across Pekalongan Regency, and cluster random sampling was used to produce a sample of 393 respondents. Data were analyzed using Chi-square tests for bivariate analysis and multiple logistic regression for multivariate analysis. The results revealed that peer influence showed a significant relationship with adolescent sexual behavior, where adolescents who were strongly influenced by peers were nearly twice as likely to engage in risky sexual activity compared to those less affected by peers. In contrast, parental marital status and parenting style showed no significant association with sexual behavior. Furthermore, regression analysis confirmed that among the variables studied, peer influence was the only factor with a significant effect, indicating its role as the strongest predictor of risky sexual behavior. In conclusion, peer influence constitutes the most influential factor shaping adolescent sexual behavior in Pekalongan Regency. Efforts to prevent risky sexual activity among adolescents should therefore emphasize strengthening positive peer roles, encouraging constructive group activities, and ensuring comprehensive support from schools and families.

Abstract

Background: Partographs are essential for monitoring labor progress, yet documentation is often incomplete or inaccurate, leading to delayed interventions and increased risks for mothers and newborns. However, there is currently no valid and reliable audit tool to evaluate the accuracy of partograph documentation. Objective: To develop and validate an audit tool for assessing the completeness and accuracy of partograph documentation. Methods: This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) design in four stages: (1) instrument development based on the 1994 WHO partograph template; (2) content validation by a panel of experts (obstetricians, senior midwives, and midwifery lecturers); (3) validity testing with 30 practicing midwives; and (4) reliability testing using Cronbach’s alpha. The instrument consisted of a 20-item checklist assessing documentation quality. Results: Expert review confirmed all items as valid. The validity test showed r-count values greater than the r-table (>0.361), and the reliability test yielded a high Cronbach’s alpha of 0.976, indicating excellent internal consistency. Conclusion: The developed audit tool is valid and reliable for evaluating the accuracy of partograph documentation. It can be applied in routine audits, quality control, and as an educational resource to strengthen healthcare workers’ competence in standardized, timely labor documentation.

Abstract

Background: Exclusive breastfeeding is an important factor in maternal and infant health, but its success rate in Indonesia, including in Semarang, is still low. One of the factors that influences the success of exclusive breastfeeding is the source of information and the attitude of breastfeeding mothers. Purpose: To analyze the relationship between information sources and the attitudes of breastfeeding mothers in the success of exclusive breastfeeding at PMB Bdn. Tri Utami Sari, S.SiT using a quantitative research approach. Method: A quantitative study with a cross-sectional design was conducted on 51 breastfeeding mothers at PMB Bdn. Tri Utami Sari, S.SiT. Data were collected through questionnaires to identify information sources and maternal attitudes, analyzed using the Spearman Rho test. Result: The majority of mothers (82.4%) exhibited a positive attitude toward exclusive breastfeeding, with the primary information source being healthcare providers (23.5%). Statistical analysis revealed a moderate positive correlation (r = 0.388) that was statistically significant (p = 0.005) between information sources and maternal attitudes. Healthcare providers and mass media supported positive attitudes, while family influence tended to correlate with negative attitudes. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between information sources and the attitudes of breastfeeding mothers, where information from healthcare providers enhances positive attitudes toward the success of exclusive breastfeeding.
