Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a major public health problem in Indonesia, with high morbidity and mortality rates occurring annually. One contributing factor to the increasing number of cases is the lack of knowledge among school-aged children regarding dengue prevention. To address this issue, educational interventions using interactive and engaging media such as the Dengue Cards Game have been developed to improve students’ understanding and preventive behavior toward DHF. This study aimed to determine the effect of health education using the Dengue Cards Game on students’ knowledge and dengue prevention behavior at SMPN 2 Kupang Timur. Employing a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test design, the study involved 34 students selected through purposive sampling. A 17-item questionnaire was used to assess knowledge and preventive behavior, and data were analyzed using the non-parametric Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ knowledge and dengue prevention behavior after the intervention, with a p-value of 0.000 (< 0.05). Prior to the education session, most students had a moderate level of knowledge (67.6%), which increased to a good level (91.2%) afterward. Therefore, the Dengue Cards Game is proven effective as an innovative and engaging educational tool to enhance students’ knowledge and preventive behavior regarding dengue fever.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a serious health problem in Indonesia, including in Kupang City, which has the highest number of cases in NTT. TB patients not only face physical problems, but also often experience anxiety due to stigma, physical changes, and the burden of long-term treatment. Psychoeducation using TB Cards is expected to be a practical solution to help reduce patient anxiety levels. Objective: To analyze the effect of psychoeducation using TB Cards on the anxiety levels of tuberculosis patients in the working area of the Sikumana Community Health Center in Kupang City. Methods: This study used a quasi- experimental design with a one-group pre-test post-test approach. The sampling technique was accidental sampling with a total of 30 TB patients as respondents. Anxiety levels were measured using the Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety (HARS) questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. Results: The Wilcoxon test results showed a significant effect between psychoeducation using TB Cards and a decrease in anxiety levels among tuberculosis patients (p-value < 0.05). Conclusion: Psychoeducation using TB Cards is effective in reducing anxiety levels in tuberculosis patients in the Sikumana Community Health Center working area. Suggestion: TB Cards can be used as an alternative educational medium in Community Health Centers to support the success of TB treatment by increasing patient understanding and reducing anxiety

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major health problem in Indonesia, including at Puskesmas Oesapa in Kupang City. One of the challenges in TB treatment is the low adherence of patients in routinely consuming Anti-Tuberculosis Drugs (OAT). The use of a digital application such as My Therapy is expected to help patients remember their medication schedules and monitor their adherence. The objective is to analyze the effect of using the My Therapy digital application on medication adherence among Tuberculosis patients at Puskesmas Oesapa, Kota Kupang. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post- test approach. The sample consisted of 47 Tuberculosis patients who were selected through purposive sampling based on inclusion criteria. Data was collected using the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8) questionnaire. Bivariate analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon Signed- Rank Test because the data was not normally distributed. The results showed that the average medication adherence score increased after the intervention using the My Therapy application. The Wilcoxon test yielded a p-value of 0.000, indicating a significant difference in adherence levels before and after the intervention. Conclusion: The use of the My Therapy digital application is effective in improving medication adherence among Tuberculosis patients at Puskesmas Oesapa, Kota Kupang. This application is expected to be a supportive innovation in efforts to control TB in then community.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) in children is a public health challenge that requires special attention, especially due to low levels of family compliance with treatment. This non-compliance risks treatment failure, recurrence, and drug resistance, which are dangerous for children. The role of the family as the primary caregiver is significant in ensuring optimal treatment. Swanson's caring theory, which emphasizes empathy and emotional support, is considered capable of increasing family compliance in accompanying children during TB treatment. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Swanson's caring behavioral approach on TB treatment compliance in families with children suffering from TB at the Ende Regional General Hospital Pediatric Clinic. The method is quantitative, with a quasi-experimental design featuring a one-group pre-test and post-test design. A total of 30 families were selected using purposive sampling. The intervention was carried out for 12 days through the five dimensions of Swanson's caring, namely maintaining belief, knowing, being with, doing for, and enabling. The measurement instrument uses the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8) questionnaire to assess treatment adherence before and after the intervention. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The study showed a significant increase in the level of family adherence in providing TB treatment to children after the Swanson caring intervention (p < 0.05). The application of the Swanson caring behavioral approach was effective in increasing TB treatment adherence in children, so it can be recommended as a family-based intervention strategy to improve the success of TB therapy in children at health facilities.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease with a high number of cases in Indonesia, including in the working area of the Sikumana Community Health Center. Low patient compliance in undergoing therapy is one of the main challenges. Families play an important role in accompanying patients, from monitoring medication intake and providing nutrition to giving emotional support. To determine the effect of implementing health care tasks through family support on tuberculosis patients at the Sikumana Community Health Center. Quantitative research with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The research sample consisted of 30 respondents who were family members of tuberculosis patients. The instruments used were a family support questionnaire covering five family health tasks and a SAP on Family Support. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon test. Results: In the pretest, most families were in the adequate (53%) and poor (46.7%) categories, with none in the good or very good categories. After the intervention, the posttest results showed a significant improvement, with 60% of respondents in the good category and 20% in the very good category. The Wilcoxon test produced a p-value < 0.001, indicating a significant effect of family support on the improvement of health care tasks. Family support was proven to increase family involvement and understanding in supporting TB patient treatment. Suggestions: Family support needs to be made a sustainable strategy in primary care, with a broader sample coverage and innovative interactive educational media to increase effectiveness.
