Abstract

Background: Elderly (elderly) is the final period in human life where a person begins to experience changes in his life which are characterized by physical, psychological and cognitive changes. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between sleep quality and physical fatigue in the elderly. Methods: This study uses quantitative research using an analytical descriptive method with a cross sectional approach. The sampling technique in this study is Stratifeid Random Sampling with a total of 75 samples. Data collection using questionnaires. Results: The results of the statistical test using the Chi-square test obtained  a p-value = 0.002 that is smaller than the p-value ≤0.05 which means that Ho is rejected, then there is a relationship between sleep quality and physical fatigue in the elderly. Conclusion: There is a significant and strong relationship between sleep quality and physical fatigue in the elderly. It is expected that health workers will increase public knowledge about sleep quality with physical fatigue in the elderly through socialization and seminars so that the public can understand the importance of good sleep quality.

Abstract

Background: Early childhood is a vulnerable child aged 0 (from birth) to 6 years. This age is often termed as the golden years, which is a very valuable age compared to later ages because the child absorbs all the stimuli he gets. Entering the age of 5-6 years the child begins to develop various abilities and skills in taking care of themselves when the child begins to explore the various skills he has such as learning to walk, eat, interact with others and formation. Understanding and learning morals as a form of early childhood independence. Objective: This study aims to find out how parental parenting and physical independence in preschool children are. Methods: This research method uses a type of analytical research using a cross sectional approach. Results: After the Chi-Square test was carried out, there was a relationship between parental parenting and physical independence in preschool children with a p value of p value = 0.000 or <P = 0.05. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that democratic parenting is the most widely applied parenting style by parents in Raudhatul Athfal Nurul Huda, Poyowa Kecil Village, where children with this parenting style are declared physically independent more than other parenting styles.

Abstract

Background: Careless bowel movements are one of the unhealthy behaviors. Careless Defecation (BABS) behavior in rivers is still a problem faced by the world community, especially in developing countries including Indonesia. Objective: This study aims to find out the factors related to the behavior of open defecation in the river Methods: This type of research is quantitative with a cross sectional research design. Results: This study obtained p value = 0.275 on the knowledge factor. P value = 0.255 on the attitude factor. P value 0.350 on the factor of bowel  habit Conclusion: Based on the test results , it can be concluded that there is a relationship between the factors of knowledge, attitude, and habit of defecation and the behavior of open defecation in the river.

Abstract

Background: The habit of urinating in a clean toilet is a common thing in PHBS. Given that many diseases are transmitted when urinating in any place, this is a healthy habit. Objective: The purpose of the research is to find out whether school-age students of SD Hasanudin Gowa use latrines or not. as a result of PHBS instruction. Methods: The research design in this study is Pre Experiment with a Pretest – Postest approach. Results: The results of the statistical test using an alternative test (Wilcoxon Test) with a value of p= 0.004 < 0.05, then Hₒwas rejected andHₐ  was accepted so that it can be concluded that there is an Effect of Education on PHBS Knowledge of Toilet Use in School-Age Children at SD Hasanudin Gowa. For this reason, it is hoped that there will be a need to increase education on student knowledge in PHBS on the use of latrines so that good student knowledge can change bad behavior for better in terms of improving healthy and clean living behavior. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, it is concluded that there is an influence of PHBS education on the use of latrines on school-age children at SD Hasanudin Gowa. So it is recommended that every student not only knows what a healthy latrine is and PHBS for the use of clean and healthy latrines but can apply it.

Abstract

Background: The role of a nurse represents a dynamic function within the healthcare system, encompassing responsibilities, obligations, and expected behaviors aligned with professional status. In public health settings, the role of nurses significantly contributes to the perceived quality of service and patient satisfaction. Objective: This study aims to examine the relationship between the perceived role of nurses and the level of patient satisfaction at the Health Quarantine Post in the Tanjungpandan Work Area. Methods: This research employed a quantitative, observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 30 respondents were selected using non-probability sampling, specifically accidental sampling. Data were collected through a structured patient satisfaction questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics and chi-square tests to determine the association between the variables. Results: Of the 30 respondents, 66.7% were female and 33.3% were male. All participants (100%) rated the role of nurses as “good.” In terms of satisfaction, 97% of respondents reported being “very satisfied,” while 3% were “satisfied.” Statistical analysis using the chi-square test demonstrated a significant relationship between the role of nurses and patient satisfaction (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The findings indicate a strong positive correlation between the nurses’ professional role and patient satisfaction at the health quarantine facility. Services related to clinical examinations, transportation checks, and the issuance of fitness-to-fly documents were delivered effectively, contributing to high satisfaction levels among service users.

Abstract

Background: Knowledge about anemia during pregnancy is very important for pregnant mothers, because knowledge can affect their attitudes and behaviors in maintaining daily food consumption patterns so that it can prevent anemia during pregnancy. Objective: In this study to determine the relationship between knowledge and the incidence of anemia in pregnant women. Methods: This research used a quantitative analytical design with a cross-sectional study approach. The study was conducted at the Abepura Health Center with a total sample of 38 pregnant women selected through total sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi-square statistical test with a significance level of 0.05. Results: Based on the results of data analysis, there were 22 respondents (57.9%) who experienced mild category anemia, then 12 respondents (31.6%) who experienced moderate anemia and 4 respondents (10.5%) who experienced severe anemia. Then there were 22 respondents (57.9%) who experienced mild category anemia, then those who experienced moderate anemia as many as 12 respondents (31.6%) and those who experienced severe anemia as many as 4 respondents (10.5%). The results of the statistical test obtained a value of p=0.000 < 0.05, so it can be concluded that the relationship is significant, which means that there is a relationship between knowledge and the incidence of anemia in pregnant women. Conclusion: The conclusion in this study is that there is a relationship between knowledge and the incidence of anemia in pregnant women.

Abstract

Background: Indonesia ranks second globally in the burden of tuberculosis (TB), following India. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates 969,000 TB cases in Indonesia, with 717,941 officially reported. In 2022, TB case detection increased significantly across health facilities, involving 97% of health centers, 85% of government hospitals, and over 80% of private hospitals, indicating the continued urgency of TB control efforts. Objective: This study aims to identify the contributing factors to the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis in the working area of the Tamalatea Health Center, Jeneponto Regency. Methods: This research employed a descriptive design involving 30 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using structured observation sheets and analyzed descriptively to identify the influence of socioeconomic, knowledge, and environmental sanitation factors on TB incidence. Results: The majority of respondents (96.7%) were classified as having low socioeconomic status. In terms of knowledge, 93.3% had good awareness of pulmonary TB, while 6.7% demonstrated low knowledge. Regarding environmental sanitation, 86.7% lived in homes with good conditions, while 13.3% lived in environments considered poor in sanitation. Conclusion: Low socioeconomic status appears to be the most dominant factor influencing the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis in this area. It is recommended that local government strengthen the empowerment of both human and natural resources to improve community income and reduce TB vulnerability.

Abstract

Background: Health development is a key indicator of national progress and is influenced by several determinants, including environment, behavior, health services, and heredity. Personal hygiene is one behavioral factor that significantly contributes to the prevention of infectious diseases such as typhus abdominalis. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship between personal hygiene and the incidence of typhus abdominalis. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted using a total sampling technique involving 45 respondents in the working area of the Rumbia Health Center, Jeneponto Regency. Data were collected through validated questionnaires and analyzed using the chi-square test. Results: There was a statistically significant and strong relationship between hand hygiene before eating and the incidence of typhus abdominalis (p < 0.001). A moderate relationship was found between drinking water cleanliness and typhus incidence (p = 0.02), and a strong relationship was identified for food hygiene (p < 0.001). Additionally, there was a moderate relationship between the cleanliness of latrine use and disease incidence (p = 0.03). Conclusion: Personal hygiene practices, particularly handwashing, food hygiene, and latrine use, are associated with the incidence of typhus abdominalis. Public health efforts should focus on improving sanitation facilities and promoting hygienic behaviors to reduce disease transmission.

Abstract

Background: Length of stay near a landfill can affect public perception of landfills. The longer people live near landfills, they tend to have a more ordinary or neutral perception of the existence of landfills, and may even not pay much attention to them because they are used to it. However, there is also the possibility that negative perceptions remain if the negative impacts of landfills, such as odors or other environmental problems, are still felt. The distance of the settlement must be more than 1 km, to overcome the direct impact on the quality of the environment, such as on air, water, health and environmental comfort. The Sebakul Water Final Disposal Site (TPA) was established in 1991, and the current condition of each block is almost full of garbage so that in the rainy season garbage trucks cannot enter the garbage pile will accumulate in the settlement dean's emergency block. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between length of stay and public perception of the existence of Sebakul Water landfill (TPA) in Bengkulu City. Methods: The research method used in this study is descriptive analytics with a cross sectional approach which was carried out from December 2024 to May 2025. The population in this study is the entire community around the Sebakul Water Landfill as many as 93 families and all were used as research respondents. Data collection techniques were carried out through questionnaires, interviews, observations, documentation studies and literature studies. The instrument used in this study is a questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out in a quantitative descriptive manner. Results: The results of the study found that there is no relationship between the length of stay around the landfill and environmental conditions, there is a relationship between the length of stay around the landfill and health. The suggestion to the government is to reclaim the landfill. Conclusion: Advice for people around the landfill, to get out of the work of scavengers and not focus on their livelihood in such places, and can also use the waste to have economic value, so that family health is maintained.

Abstract

Background: The menopausal transition, which includes the premenopausal phase and the cessation of menstruation, often leads to anxiety and unpreparedness among women due to hormonal changes. These changes result in various physical and psychological symptoms. Enhancing knowledge about menopause is essential for better coping and adaptation. Objective: To assess the level of maternal knowledge regarding menopause before and after a counseling intervention in Salajo Village, South Bontonompo District, Gowa Regency. Methods: This study employed a descriptive quantitative design using a one-group pretest-posttest approach. A total of 46 menopausal mothers participated through total sampling. Data were collected using a validated questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics with SPSS version 25. Results: Before counseling, 39 out of 46 participants (84.8%) had good knowledge about menopause, while 7 participants (15.2%) had limited knowledge. After counseling, the number of respondents with good knowledge increased to 45 (97.8%), with only one participant (2.2%) remaining in the limited category. Conclusion: Counseling significantly improved maternal knowledge about menopause. The intervention proved effective in enhancing awareness of menopausal symptoms and phases. This underscores the importance of structured health education programs to empower women in managing the menopausal transition.
