Abstract

Background: The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) states that natural disasters are disasters caused by events or series of events caused by nature, including earthquakes, tsunamis, erupting mountains, floods, droughts, typhoons, and landslides. Objective: The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and attitudes with community preparedness in handling RT 01 natural disasters in Batumerah Village. Methods: This type of research uses a correlational research design, this study looks for relationships between variables. The approach in this study uses a cross sectional approach. Sampling uses purposive sampling or sampling by determining certain criteria. Data Analysis using chi-square test. Results: The  results show the results of the value  p = 0.01 where the value of p ≤ 0.05 so that Ha is sent, and the attitude with preparedness shows results with a value of p = 0.00 where the value of p ≤ 0.05 so that Ha is  accepted. Based on the results of the study, there is a relationship between the level of knowledge and attitudes with preparedness in natural disaster management in RT 01 Batumerah Village. Conclusion: People's attitudes are also influenced by several factors such as personal experience, the influence of others, mass media, and emotional. The attitude of the community is positive because many people are very concerned about the arrival of disasters, and participate in mitigation efforts, and also have rescue equipment

Chemicals contained in nutmeg leaves such as saponins, polyphenols, flavanoids, and essential oils. To prove the activity of ethanol extract of nutmeg leaves (myristica fragrans) against the aorta of diabetic rats (rattus norvegicus). Objective: To prove the activity of nutmeg leaf ethanol extract (myristica fragrans) against the aorta of diabetic rats (rattus norvegicus), and prove the activity of nutmeg leaf ethanol extract (myristica fragrans) on hispathological features of foam cells and aortic diameter of diabetic rats (rattus norvegicus). Methods: This research is a type of research that is laboratory experiments (laboratory experiments) in vivo using experimental animals of white rats (rattus norvegicus) male wistar strains. Results: Nutmeg leaves use 96% ethanol solvent. Maceration results of 300 g were obtained, concentrated with a rotary evaporator device obtained a thick extract of 42.673 g with a soaking % of 14.23%. Histological images were obtained of thinner and wider diameter lumen and foam cells in the tunica intima and aortic media of mice. Conclusion: From the results of research on the effect of ethanol extract of nutmeg leaves (myristica fragrans) on the hispathotic picture of aortic rats (rattus norvegicus) diabetes. To prove the activity of ethanol extract of nutmeg leaves (myristica fragrans) on hispathological features of foam cells and aortic diameter of diabetic rats (rattus norvegicus).

Abstract

Background: Floods are the most common natural disasters in Indonesia, accounting for 43.1% of incidents in 2022. Flood-prone urban areas such as Makassar face recurrent seasonal inundations. Enhancing disaster preparedness through simulation-based education in schools is crucial. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of dual-mode simulations (animated video and puzzle-based learning) in improving flood disaster preparedness among elementary school students. Methods: A pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was used involving 84 students from SD Inpres Nipa-Nipa, Makassar. Interventions included video simulations and educational puzzles administered in two sessions over one month. Preparedness levels were measured using a validated questionnaire before and after the intervention. Results: Wilcoxon test results showed significant improvement in disaster preparedness after both video simulation (p = 0.000) and puzzle-based learning (p = 0.000).Conclusion: Dual-mode simulation methods significantly improved flood disaster preparedness in schoolchildren. Educational simulations, particularly when combined with interactive tools, are recommended for school-based disaster risk reduction strategies.

Abstract

Background : Cancer is one of the chronic diseases that not only affects physical conditions, but also causes severe psychological stress. One of them is anxiety, anxiety in cancer patients can arise from receiving a diagnosis, during treatment, to facing the uncertainty of the prognosis. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the coping mechanism and the level of anxiety in cancer patients. Methods: This study was conducted quantitatively with a cross sectional approach using questionnaires to measure coping mechanisms and anxiety levels, this study involved 60 cancer patients undergoing treatment in hospitals. Results: The results of the analysis showed that most respondents (36.7%) used adaptive coping mechanisms but still experienced mild to severe anxiety. The Chi-Square test showed a weak association between coping mechanisms and anxiety levels (p = 0.004) suggesting that regardless of the relationship, adaptive coping has not been fully effective in lowering anxiety. Conclusion: Researchers recommend the development of educational programs and psychological assistance to address anxiety and can explore other factors that may affect cancer patients' anxiety.

Abstract

Background: Emergency services involve rapid assessment, stabilization, and treatment of life-threatening conditions that require immediate attention. Recent studies highlight alarming increases in hospital mortality, particularly in the Emergency Department (ED), with the main causes including severe brain injury, meningitis, heart disease, trauma, kidney disease, and sepsis. Factors such as response time significantly affect patient outcomes. Objective: The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between sleep quality and nurse response time Methods: This study adopts a cross-sectional descriptive analytical approach. Results: It was found that there was a relationship between sleep quality and response time of nurses in emergency rooms. Conclusion: Based on the results of statistical analysis,  it is obtained with a value value p = 0.003 where 0.003 is smaller than the value of α = 0.05 thus, it can be said that Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected.
