Abstract

Hypertension in the elderly is defined as systolic pressure above 160 mmHg and diastolic pressure above 90 mmHg. There are several risk factors for hypertension, such as age, gender, smoking, and a sedentary lifestyle that can lead to obesity. Signs and symptoms that are often found in people with hypertension are headaches, dizziness, and a heavy neck. The non-pharmacological intervention that can be done is by giving Garlic Tea. The natural content of garlic contains very important chemical compounds, one of which is volatile oil (0.1-0.36%) containing sulfur, including alliin, ajoene and vinyldithiines which are produced non-enzymatically from allicin which can thin the blood and play a role in regulating blood pressure so that it can smooth blood circulation. This study was conducted on June 9-11, 2022, then analyzing the data and carrying out interventions from the diagnosis obtained. The nursing diagnosis that emerged was Acute pain related to physical injury agents (Excessive physical exercise, sleep pattern disorders related to environmental obstacles (noise). Garlic infusion was given for 3 consecutive days and given once a day. Nursing problems can be resolved because the patient said that her blood pressure had dropped and the patient could return to her activities. Abstract

Rheumatoid Arthritis is a condition experienced by sufferers in which inflammation occurs in the bones or joints. Rheumatoid Arthritis can disrupt activities and even cause paralysis. The intervention that can be done is by giving a warm lemongrass compress. This is because lemongrass contains an enzyme, namely the cyclo-oxygenase enzyme which can reduce inflammation that is absorbed through the skin in the inflamed/swollen area, while a warm compress on the body area will send a signal to the hypothalamus to be stimulated, the effector system emits a signal that starts sweating and peripheral vasodilation. Changes in the size of blood vessels are regulated by the vasomotor center in the medulla oblongata of the brain stem, under the influence of the anterior hypothalamus so that vasodilation occurs. The occurrence of this vasodilation causes blood flow to each tissue to increase, especially those experiencing inflammation and pain, so that there is a decrease in joint pain in the inflamed tissue. This study was conducted in November 2021, then analyzed the data and carried out interventions from the diagnosis obtained. The nursing diagnoses that emerged were chronic pain related to the family's inability to care for sick family members, ineffectiveness of family health management related to lack of family knowledge about rheumatoid arthritis, and anxiety related to lack of family knowledge in recognizing the problem. Warm lemongrass compresses were given for 3 consecutive days and given twice a day, namely in the first 10 minutes and one hour later, another compress was given for 10 minutes. Results: nursing problems can be resolved because the client said the pain was reduced and the client could return to activities. Conclusion: giving warm lemongrass compresses has a positive impact on the client so that it can reduce the scale of pain in Mrs. B with Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Abstract

Bronchopneumonia is one of the acute respiratory infections that affects the lungs, especially in children, with a high incidence rate in Indonesia, including at RSUD Bangkinang. Based on 2024 data, bronchopneumonia ranked second among the top ten inpatient diseases at RSUD Bangkinang. This study aims to provide an overview of the nursing care implementation for children with bronchopneumonia at RSUD Bangkinang in 2025. This research employed a case study approach on an 11-month-old child admitted with a medical diagnosis of bronchopneumonia. The nursing care was conducted over three days, covering assessment, nursing diagnoses, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The identified nursing diagnoses were: ineffective airway clearance, hyperthermia, and nutritional deficit. After three days of nursing interventions, the patient’s condition improved, as indicated by reduced shortness of breath, decreased body temperature, and increased appetite. The interventions included airway management, hyperthermia management, and nutritional management based on the Indonesian Nursing Intervention Standards (SIKI). Proper and comprehensive nursing care for children with bronchopneumonia can accelerate recovery and prevent further complications. Observational, therapeutic, educational, and collaborative interventions are essential in handling pediatric bronchopneumonia cases.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is one of the disturbances experienced by women during their menstrual period. One of the causes of dysmenorrhea can be due to premenstrual syndrome (PMS), which includes both internal and external stressors affecting women. Stress among female students is often caused by pressure before exams, school assignments, graduation plans, and personal problems. This study aims to determine the relationship between premenstrual stress and dysmenorrhea among students at SMAN 2 Bangkinang Kota. The research employed a descriptive correlational survey design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of 675 female students from grades X to XII. The sample was determined using the Slovin formula, with stratified random sampling and purposive sampling techniques, resulting in a total of 87 students. Data were collected using the Shortened Premenstrual Assessment Form (SPAF) questionnaire. The data were analyzed using the chi-square test with the Fisher exact test for significance. The results showed that 77 students (88.5%) experienced premenstrual syndrome, and 75 students (86.2%) experienced dysmenorrhea. Bivariate analysis revealed that of the 77 students with premenstrual syndrome, 70 (90.1%) experienced dysmenorrhea, while 7 (9.1%) did not, due to other factors. Further studies are recommended to conduct quasi-experiments to observe whether there are differences in women who experience stress compared to those who do not.

Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease caused by various factors such as excessive salt intake, stress, smoking, unhealthy diet, lack of physical activity, and family history. Often referred to as a “silent killer,” it typically presents without symptoms until serious complications arise. If left untreated, hypertension can result in circulatory disorders, pain, sleep disturbances, kidney damage, stroke, or heart failure. This scientific paper aims to describe the nursing care provided to Mrs. S, a 58-year-old patient diagnosed with hypertension and admitted to the Pejuang Ward of Bangkinang Regional Hospital. Data were collected through interviews, observation, physical examination, and document analysis. Three main nursing diagnoses were identified: ineffective peripheral perfusion, acute pain, and disturbed sleep pattern, all caused by uncontrolled high blood pressure. Nursing interventions were implemented using the Indonesian Nursing Intervention Classification (SIKI), focusing on pain management, circulatory care, and sleep support. Evaluation showed clinical improvement and enhanced patient understanding of hypertension management. Effective nursing care plays a crucial role in reducing the risk of complications and improving the overall quality of life for patients living with hypertension.
