Journal of Humanities, Community Service, and Empowerment (JHCSE) is a peer-reviewed journal published by Global World Scientific. It is at the national and international level that covers a lot of common problems or issues related to humanities, community services, development, strengthening, and empowerment. This journal accepts articles on research results in growth, empowerment, and community strengthening and the consequences of activities or practical implementations of community service, empowerment, or strengthening that are problem-solving, comprehensive, meaningful, and sustainable, with clear goals. Various community service and empowerment activities must have novelty (innovation and creativity) so that they do not just replicate the same actions in different places, have measurable results and impacts on society, and support achieving the goals outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SDGs are a global action plan agreed by world leaders to end poverty, reduce inequality, and protect the environment. The SDGs contain 17 Goals and 169 Targets, so each article must be linked to these goals and targets (as stated in the contribution statement). Therefore, the Journal of Humanities, Community Service and Empowerment accepts articles from Indonesian authors and other countries that have not been offered for publication elsewhere. The first issued in January 2024, the Journal of Humanities, Community Service and Empowerment publishes new editions fourth a year. Journal of Humanities, Community Service and Empowerment has published electronic (PDF) versions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the performance of the principal in managing human resources at SD Negeri 17 Palu. The primary focus of this study is on key aspects, including the recruitment and selection of educators, performance evaluation, interpersonal relationships among staff, conflict management, and parent involvement. The approach used in this study is qualitative, employing a case study method that collects data through in-depth interviews with teachers, the principal, and field observations. The results of the study indicate that the principal has not been fully effective in managing human resources, particularly in aspects such as recruitment and performance evaluation, which are less transparent and less than optimal in terms of conflict management. The principal's performance in managing human resources affects the working conditions in the school as well as the quality of education provided. Nepotism practices in teacher recruitment and selection, as well as a lack of transparency in performance evaluation, have eroded staff trust in the principal's leadership. Additionally, poor interpersonal relationships between the principal and staff have exacerbated the working environment. However, parental involvement in various school activities is considered positive. This study recommends that principals enhance their recruitment processes, performance evaluations, and conflict management strategies to create a fairer and more productive environment.

Abstract

Queuing systems in the Indonesian healthcare sector play a crucial role in delivering efficient and high-quality services to patients. This study aims to analyze various queuing system models implemented in hospitals and other healthcare facilities, with a primary focus on the FIFO (First-In-First-Out) method. In this system, patients who arrive earlier will be served first. Although the FIFO method has been proven effective in increasing efficiency, various challenges affect the performance of the queuing system, including high patient numbers, limited human resources, and inadequate infrastructure. This study also identifies the potential of technology in optimizing the queuing system, such as information technology-based applications that can expedite the registration process and reduce patient waiting times. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the health sector in Indonesia has been increasingly encouraged to adopt digital technology in queue management, which can improve the quality of health services. This technology can enhance the flow of information to patients and aid in setting queue priorities, particularly for vulnerable groups such as the elderly and pregnant women. Additionally, government policies that support digitalization in the healthcare sector also play a crucial role in overcoming various existing obstacles. By employing a holistic approach that incorporates infrastructure, technology, and human resources, it is anticipated that the queue system in the Indonesian healthcare sector can be significantly improved, offering faster and more efficient services and enhancing patient satisfaction.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the leadership role of school principals in improving teacher performance in Palu City through a literature study approach. In education, principals play a central role in creating a conducive working environment, encouraging professionalism and facilitating teachers' competency development. This study reviewed five scientific articles published between 2015 and 2024 and relevant to the topic of principal leadership in Palu City. The findings show that democratic leadership styles that encourage collaboration, teacher empowerment and persuasive communication have a positive influence on improving teacher performance. Furthermore, this study confirms that the success of school principals in managing human resources and implementing adaptive professional development programs determines the progress of education quality. The role of school principals is not only administrative but also strategic in facing the challenges of globalization, technological development and the competency-based curriculum. This study provides a practical contribution in formulating effective leadership strategies that support the improvement of education quality at the local level, particularly in Palu city. Therefore, collaboration between education stakeholders is key in strengthening the role of school principals as agents of change.

Abstract

Strengthening character education is an important aspect of national education development, which aims to form the next generation of the nation with integrity and national insight. One of the real efforts in realizing this is through the implementation of Pancasila values in the school environment. This article discusses the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) with the theme of entrepreneurship at SD Negeri Poboya as an example of good practice in shaping students' independent character. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach to explore the implementation process, challenges, as well as the impact of the project on students' character. The results showed that P5 at SD Negeri Poboya was able to make a significant contribution in strengthening students' character, especially in terms of independence and responsibility. However, the successful implementation of this project can still be improved through stronger synergy between the school, parents and external partners. Program sustainability and joint commitment from all stakeholders are key factors in making P5 an inspiring character education model that can be replicated in other schools in Indonesia.
