Abstract

Infertility is a growing public health concern with multifactorial determinants affecting both partners, yet early identification of risk factors at the community level remains limited. This study aimed to assess the prevalence and distribution of infertility risk factors among reproductive-aged couples in Bantul, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, using a community-based screening approach. A community-based cross-sectional study was conducted from May to August 2025 involving 48 reproductive-aged couples selected through purposive sampling during community health screening activities. Data were collected using a structured, interviewer-administered questionnaire assessing sociodemographic characteristics, reproductive history, lifestyle factors, and medical conditions related to infertility, combined with anthropometric measurements for body mass index assessment. An infertility risk scoring system was applied to classify participants into low- and elevated-risk groups, and descriptive statistical analysis was performed. Approximately 39.6% of participants were classified as having elevated infertility risk. Key risk factors identified included menstrual irregularities, abnormal body mass index, smoking behavior among male partners, and a history of reproductive health disorders. These findings highlight the importance of early community-based screening to detect modifiable infertility risk factors prior to clinical manifestation. Community-based screening may support early identification and inform preventive reproductive health strategies.

Abstract

Infertility is a multifactorial reproductive health issue that affects a growing number of couples globally. Nutritional status and dietary patterns have been increasingly recognized as modifiable factors influencing fertility, yet their impact remains underexplored in many low-resource settings, including Indonesia. This study aimed to assess the association between nutritional status and dietary patterns with infertility among reproductive-aged couples in Bantul, Yogyakarta. A cross-sectional analytical study was conducted involving 204 participants (102 infertile and 102 fertile couples) selected using stratified random sampling. Nutritional status was determined based on body mass index (BMI), while dietary patterns were assessed using a validated food frequency questionnaire. Statistical analyses included chi-square tests and multivariate logistic regression to evaluate associations and calculate adjusted odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). The findings indicate that underweight and overweight/obese individuals had significantly higher odds of infertility compared to those with normal BMI (OR = 2.00 and 1.98, respectively; p < 0.05). Participants with inadequate dietary patterns were 3.29 times more likely to experience infertility (p < 0.001). Multivariate analysis confirmed both nutritional status and dietary patterns as independent predictors of infertility. Nutritional imbalance and poor dietary habits are strongly associated with infertility. These findings underscore the need to integrate nutritional assessment and counseling into fertility care to improve reproductive outcomes. Further interventional studies are recommended to establish causal relationships and guide clinical practice.

Abstract

Investing in early childhood education can bring significant educational, social, and economic benefits. Despite the presence of numerous early childhood education (PAUD) units, in 2021, Bantul Regency had the lowest Special Stunting Management Index (IKPS) compared to other regencies/cities in the Special Region of Yogyakarta Province. The suboptimal PAUD and IKPS indicators in Bantul Regency provide an opportunity for a study on the impact of PAUD on children's health and nutritional status. This study is necessary to determine whether PAUD participation rates can improve children's health and nutritional status in Bantul Regency. This study aims to analyze the effect of PAUD on stunting prevalence, used two analytical approaches: descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The number of PAUD students statistically significantly reduced stunting prevalence across all estimation types. Meanwhile, the other two variables, the number of PAUDs and the number of PAUD teachers, did not statistically significantly reduce stunting prevalence. However, the results of simultaneous testing showed that these three PAUD variables collectively had a significant effect on stunting prevalence. There is a negative relationship between the number of PAUD students and the prevalence of stunting, which indicates that the participation of PAUD indicators plays a role in reducing stunting rates.

Abstract

Toponymy is an onomastics that studies place names. The act of naming places can be interpreted as a human endeavor to recognize identity and understand everything around them. The name of a place is not merely a physical object, but rather carries symbolic meaning as a form of human self-actualization and their relationship with nature. This place naming is not just a marker of identity, but also represents a deep connection between humans and nature. The objective of this research is to understand toponymy as an identity of biodiversity and local wisdom in the Kapanewon Imogiri region. The data used consists of place names, such as ‘padukuhan’ (hamlets) and ‘Kalurahan’ (villages) in Kapanewon Imogiri, as well as a literature study conducted by gathering relevant literature reviews, books, and journals on toponymy and biodiversity. This research method comprises data and information collection, data analysis, and data presentation. The study employs a documentation method with a descriptive approach. The application of Toponymy as an identity of biodiversity and local wisdom in the Kapanewon Imogiri area reveals that 20 padukuhan names in Kapanewon Imogiri are toponyms referring to local tree names, namely Kedungjati, Nogosari, Pelemantung, Putat, Kalidadap I, Kalidadap II, Mandingan, Salaman, Miri, Jati, Jatirejo, Pelemadu, Pucunggrowong, Mojolegi, Bendo, Pundung, Cengkehan, Nogosari I, Nogosari II, and Karangasem. These place names connected to local flora are expected to encourage efforts for biodiversity conservation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the enforcement of administrative sanctions against chain stores by the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) in Bantul Regency, reviewed from the perspective of bureaucratic ethics, particularly the professional ethics of Civil Servant Investigators (PPNS). The problem arises from a gap between the provisions of Bantul Regency Regional Regulation Number 21 of 2018 on the Organization of Traditional Markets, Self-Service Stores, and Shopping Centers, and its enforcement practices in Bantul Regency. The Bantul Regency Satpol PP has failed to enforce administrative sanctions against chain stores that violate distance requirements, citing changes in licensing nomenclature following the enactment of Government Regulation Number 28 of 2025 on the Implementation of Risk-Based Business Licensing. This study employs a normative legal research method, using primary and secondary legal materials analyzed through description, systematization, analysis, and evaluation of positive law. The findings indicate that changes in licensing nomenclature cannot constitute a valid legal basis for disregarding the enforcement of administrative sanctions, and that the prevailing practice is contrary to the professional ethics principles of PPNS.
