Abstract

Adequate physical facilities are essential to support safe, comfortable, and developmentally appropriate learning in Early Childhood Education (ECE). Pos PAUD Asparaga, a community-based ECE institution in Merjosari, Lowokwaru, Malang City, faces challenges related to deteriorating infrastructure and limited learning facilities. This community service activity aimed to provide technical guidance for improving the physical learning environment at Pos PAUD Asparaga. The program employed a technical assistance approach involving stakeholder coordination, needs assessment through field surveys and observations, preparation of working drawings, and participatory decision-making with teachers and community members. The results indicate that wall repair and learning space enhancement, including temporary aesthetic solutions, improved classroom appearance, comfort, and perceived safety. Although learning outcomes were not measured quantitatively, the improved environment is expected to support children’s engagement and well-being. This activity highlights the importance of integrating technical expertise with community participation in community-based ECE facility improvement.

Abstract

The motor coil winding training at Pondok Pesantren Putra Baitul Qur'an Al Khusyu Malang aimed to enhance the technical skills of students, particularly in the area of Brushless DC (BLDC) motor technology. This training program addressed the gap in access to modern technical education in the pesantren, especially in fields related to electric vehicles and industrial equipment. The training consisted of both theoretical sessions on the principles and applications of BLDC motors, and practical exercises on winding motor coils. Through structured learning methods, participants improved their understanding of BLDC motor functionality and gained hands-on experience. The program showed significant success in equipping students with skills applicable in the growing electric vehicle industry, improving their potential for future employment or entrepreneurship, and promoting economic independence.

Abstract

The installation and training of CCTV security systems at Pondok Pesantren Putra Baitul Qur'an Al-Khusyu Malang aimed to improve both security and the technical skills of students. The training covered the basics of CCTV technology, including installation methods, system components, and maintenance procedures, enhancing students' knowledge and preparing them for the job market. The hands-on approach proved effective, as participants were actively involved in the installation and configuration of CCTV systems. Before the training, only a small percentage of students were familiar with CCTV technology, but post-training assessments showed a significant increase in knowledge. This program not only contributed to a safer environment within the pesantren but also provided valuable technical skills that students could use in their careers or entrepreneurship. Despite challenges such as limited resources and infrastructure, the training successfully empowered the students with skills relevant to modern security needs. This initiative sets a model for other educational institutions to integrate technical training with religious education, fostering a more skilled and competitive generation

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on Indonesia's economy, with reduced purchasing power and job losses, highlighting the need for the strategic role of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in economic recovery. In Mulyoagung Village, East Java, cassava cracker MSMEs face challenges in increasing production capacity due to traditional drying methods that depend on sunlight, which is unreliable during the rainy season. This study proposes the adoption of a drying oven technology as a solution to enhance production efficiency and capacity. By implementing this technology, the production of cassava crackers increased from 200 kg/day to 500 kg/day, a 2.5-fold improvement. Additionally, the study addresses the administrative issues within MSMEs, specifically the lack of structured financial record-keeping. Through training in financial management and the use of break-even point (BEP) analysis, MSMEs were able to improve their financial tracking and decision-making processes. The combination of technological improvement and better administrative practices not only boosted production but also improved the competitiveness of the MSMEs in local and regional markets. This project demonstrates the importance of applying appropriate technology and effective management to overcome operational challenges and foster long-term business sustainability.

Abstract

This report involves the evaluation of a community-service project which was done on 14 May 2025 involving 42 orphaned children at the Yayasan Yatim Daarul Ma’wa in Depok, Indonesia. The final aim was to boost the communicative confidence group of the learners and achieve a sense of cultural pride by engaging them in an exposure to the English language. The intervention part comprised a one workshop intervention supported by preliminary needs assessment, interactive pedagogical process, and reflective feedback process. Tasks to be undertaken included (1) situational ice-breakers, (2) mini-lessons on usefulness of the English language in the world, (3) conversation session, and (4) open question and answer session on barriers to learning. The practices of practical self-study (media immersion and extensive reading) were explicitly modelled and provided in a take-home toolkit. Short-term outcomes indicated that 87 percent of the respondents (n 42) had statistically significant changes in the wishes to speak English (before and after self-rating, p 0.05) and asserted to possess more cultural esteem. The proof among the involved students of the university (n = 12) was the growth of civic awareness and the heightened consumer desire to participate in outreach in the subsequent future. The findings support the idea that short, pedagogically focused service-learning can build orphan linguistic self-efficacy and social responsibility in university students both at the same period of time, and, that is why, it could be one of the examples of educational community engagement. Keywords: community intervention, English language Learning, Orphaned Children.

Abstract

White oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus) represent a vital agricultural commodity and a major source of income for residents of Dusun Wiloso, Desa Gondowangi, Kecamatan Wagir, Kabupaten Malang. Despite their economic potential, the productivity of local mushroom farmers remains constrained by the conventional manual process of preparing baglog planting media, which involves mixing wood sawdust and rice bran. This traditional method is not only labor-intensive and time-consuming but also prone to inconsistencies that may damage the planting media and reduce overall yields. In response to these challenges, the Community Service Program (PPM) introduced an innovative training and technology transfer initiative focused on the design, fabrication, and utilization of a mushroom planting media mixing machine. This intervention effectively mechanizes the mixing process, thereby improving production efficiency, ensuring greater uniformity and quality of the planting media, and enhancing cultivation outcomes. Beyond its technical advantages, the program promotes local capacity building by expanding community knowledge in mechanical engineering and fabrication, fostering innovation, and stimulating entrepreneurial opportunities among local fabrication workshops. These workshops play a strategic role in sustaining the availability of appropriate agricultural technologies, supporting the continuous improvement of mushroom cultivation systems, and strengthening the region’s technological independence. Consequently, this PPM initiative not only addresses critical production bottlenecks but also contributes to broader goals of rural economic development, technological empowerment, and sustainable community self-reliance within Dusun Wiloso.

Abstract

The Sumberingin Baths, a prominent landmark of Wringinsongo Village, represent one of the region’s most promising tourism destinations, supported by facilities such as photo spots, food stalls, places of worship, and gazebos for visitor comfort. Since 2022, the site has been enriched through the installation of an Archimedes Screw Turbine Micro Hydroelectric Power Plant (MHPP) as an educational display under the DIPA Swadana Partnership Community Service program. In 2023, the same initiative facilitated the construction of a café whose architectural design uniquely integrates natural and scientific elements, offering visitors a rare and engaging thematic experience. Despite these developments, the area remains limited in mechanical attractions that combine education with entertainment. Addressing this gap, the 2024 DIPA Swadana Regular Competition Community Service program introduced the installation of a rhythmic water wheel that harmonizes nature and technology. Designed as both a visual centerpiece and an interactive learning medium, the water wheel transforms water flow into rhythmic motion by driving musical instruments, thereby creating an innovative educational adventure that blends natural beauty with technological insight.
