Abstract

This classroom action research aims to improve students’ reading interest in the Indonesian language subject for third-grade students at SD Inpres 3 Tondo. The subjects of this study were 25 students, consisting of 9 male and 16 female students. The research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of four stages: (a) planning, (b) implementation of action, (c) observation, and (d) reflection. The problem addressed in this study was the students’ low reading interest, which affected their participation and understanding of the learning material. To overcome this issue, the researcher implemented the use of poster media as a learning aid. Data were collected through observations of teacher and student activities, as well as written tests to evaluate learning outcomes. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ reading interest. In the first cycle, the classical completeness percentage reached 66%, and in the second cycle, it increased to 81%. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the use of poster media in Indonesian language learning is effective in enhancing students' reading interest. The poster media made students more engaged and active in the learning process, thereby positively impacting their learning outcomes

Abstract

Instructional media plays an important role as a tool for conveying messages from teachers to students, particularly in delivering curriculum-based material. The use of media in the learning process can stimulate students' thoughts, emotions, attention, and motivation, thereby promoting a more effective learning experience. Media also assists teachers in conveying messages, especially those that are difficult to express through words alone. This study utilized a questionnaire method with multiple-choice and forced-choice types (such as yes–no or agree–disagree), selected for their ease of completion and minimal cognitive load for respondents. An interview technique was also employed, specifically with the principal of SD GKST Talabosa, to understand the implementation of media use in SBdP (Arts, Culture, and Craft) learning. Additionally, questionnaires were distributed to fifth-grade students to gather data on their perceptions and experiences with the use of instructional media. The collected data were presented in tables and descriptive explanations. The results indicated that most students felt their teacher frequently used media in SBdP lessons. A total of 90% of respondents stated that the teacher often used instructional media, while 10% stated it was used very frequently. No respondents reported that the teacher rarely or never used media. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of instructional media in SBdP learning for fifth-grade students at SD GKST Talabosa is considered fairly good, although some inhibiting factors still exist in its implementation.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of SBdP (Cultural Arts and Craft) learning in fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Mayakeli. This type of research is qualitative. The subjects of this study were fifth-grade students of SD Negeri 1 Mayakeli for the 2023/2024 academic year, consisting of 15 students—7 female and 8 male students. Data analysis includes observation guidelines, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. The study results on the analysis of fifth-grade students' creativity in utilizing recycled materials in the SBdP subject at SD Negeri 1 Mayakeli show that students are enthusiastic about participating in the SBdP subject when they are given guidance, motivation, and encouragement at the beginning of the lesson. The teacher encourages active student participation during learning through creative activities, such as students being able to appreciate, recognize, value, and assess an artwork produced from a useful handicraft product that has aesthetic value for both students and others. The ideal characteristics of SBdP include a recreational nature through experimentation, courage in expressing opinions, and are implemented both in an integrated or single subject manner. The methods used during learning are the question-and-answer method and games in learning to prevent students from feeling bored during the teaching and learning process. The teacher also occasionally uses themselves as a learning medium, depending on the material presented, to help students better understand the material being taught.
