Abstract

The SME sector experienced a decline in financial performance during the pandemic. In addition, there are changes in SME owners' financial behavior, which impact financial decision-making. The financial behavior of SME owners can be seen in risk attitudes, mental accounting, and overconfidence. This study explores the relationship between risk attitudes, mental accounting, and overconfidence in investment and financing decisions. This study took the population of UKM owners in Banyumas Regency, Central Java Province, Indonesia.. The sample used in the study amounted to 116 SME owners. The results provide empirical evidence that risk attitudes and mental accounting have not significantly influenced investment decisions. Overconfidence can improve the investment decisions of SME owners. The results of the study confirm that lower-risk attitudes will have an impact on enhancing financing decisions. A high level of mental accounting will result in better financing decisions. Overconfidence does not influence financing decisions.

Abstract

The main problem faced by Islamic rural banks (IRBs) in Indonesia is the high level of non-performing financing (NPF). This paper analyzes the factors that influence NPF by focusing on the effect of financing diversification based on financing contracts. The IRBs being studied are banks located in West Java and East Java which constitute 34% of the total IRBs in Indonesia. The research period is from 2013-2022 using quarterly data and unbalanced panel data. The estimation method used is panel regression. The results document that the concentration of financing based on contracts reduces the NPF. Apart from that, the size of the bank, high capital, and stability will also reduce NPF. However, financing and operational efficiency do not affect NPF. COVID-19, which has caused a decline in Indonesia's economic growth, has increased the NPF. The policy implication of these findings is that IRBs must focus on certain financing contracts to reduce the risk of bad financing instead of disbursing all financing contracts.

Abstract

Family business research is compelling due to its significant contribution to the economy, particularly in developing countries like Indonesia. While innovation plays a crucial role in the sustainability of family businesses, its effectiveness is still influenced by succession, family involvement, and successor knowledge. Previous studies have indicated that family businesses are more innovative than non-family businesses; however, the relationship between family involvement and innovation remains inconsistent. Notably, 95% of private businesses in Indonesia are family-owned, contributing 25% to the GDP. Yet, only 30% survive into the second generation, and a mere 12% reach the third generation due to poor succession planning and weak innovation management. This research addresses the gap by developing the concept of New Family Business Value Creation (NFBVC) based on the Resource-Based View (RBV) and Sustainable Family Business Theory (SFBT) to optimize family resources for sustainable innovation. Utilizing an exploratory-predictive approach, the study involves 268 successors of small and medium-sized Batik family businesses and is analyzed using PLS-SEM. The findings are expected to provide theoretical and practical contributions to the sustainability of family businesses. This research highlights the critical role of successor knowledge, willingness, and parent-child cohesion in sustaining family businesses. By introducing New Family Business Value Creation (NFBVC), the study reinforces RBV and SFBT theories, demonstrating that Family Social Capital and value creation significantly enhance long-term business sustainability across generations. NFBVC serves as a key mediator in family business sustainability, enriching RBV and SFBT theories, and emphasizes moral-based value creation as essential for long-term business continuity across generations.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of green bond issuance on banking stability in Indonesia, emphasizing the moderating roles of capitalization and liquidity. Panel data from 47 commercial banks during the 2018–2023 period (282 bank-year observations) were analyzed using purposive sampling, with random effects, fixed effects, and OLS approaches employed. The results reveal that green bonds significantly enhance bank stability. Bank capitalization strengthens this positive effect, while liquidity weakens it. Furthermore, ROA contributes positively to stability, whereas inflation and GDP growth show no significant influence. The findings highlight that issuing green bonds alone is insufficient to improve bank stability without strong capital support. Thus, regulatory authorities should provide capital-based incentives, while bank management must strengthen capitalization and profitability to achieve sustainable financial benefits. This research contributes to financial literature by providing empirical evidence from emerging markets, particularly within the Indonesian banking system.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of the Internal Control System (ICS), Accounting Information System (AIS), and Management Control System (MCS) on Sustainability Performance among 88 Islamic Microfinance Institutions (IMFIs) in Central Java, Indonesia. Employing Smart PLS for data analysis, the findings reveal that: (1) the ICS exerts a significant effect on the MCS, with the MCS mediating the relationship between ICS and sustainability performance; and (2) the AIS does not significantly affect the MCS, nor does the MCS mediate the relationship between AIS and sustainability performance. The key theoretical contribution lies in highlighting the mediating role of MCS in translating ICS functions as internal control mechanisms into improved sustainability outcomes. Practically, the findings enrich the management accounting literature, offering insights for enhancing the design and application of MCS to support sustainability-oriented performance in Islamic microfinance institutions.

Abstract

In today's digital economy, privacy concerns in the context of financial technology (FinTech) have become critically important. This research aims to investigate both the enabling and inhibiting factors influencing Internet Privacy Concern (IPC) among users of mobile FinTech services, specifically targeting the millennial generation in Indonesia. The research model is grounded in the Multidimensional Development Theory, encompassing four dimensions: environmental, individual, information management, and interaction management. This study employed an online survey method to distribute questionnaires to respondents, and through convenience sampling, 432 respondents were obtained. Utilizing Structural Equation Modeling - Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) analysis, the results demonstrate that familiarity with government legislation, risk avoidance and privacy protection have positif effect on IPC. While industry self- regulation, collectivism, previous privacy invasion experience, internet knowledge, information sensitivity and social presence did not influence IPC. Furthermore, benefit of information disclosure has a negative effect on IPC.
