Abstract

This community service aimed to enhance financial literacy by focusing on financial planning and debt management for vulnerable women in Sumurejo Village, Gunungpati District, Semarang City. The activity was conducted on August 13, 2025, through interactive lectures, group discussions, and case-based practices with 30 women participants identified as having limited financial access and being vulnerable to debt traps. The program emphasized practical strategies in budgeting, savings, and responsible debt use. Evaluation using pre-test and post-test revealed a significant improvement: participants’ ability to prepare a simple household budget increased from 30% to 85%, and their understanding of the difference between productive and consumptive debt rose from 25% to 85%. These results indicate that the training not only increased financial awareness but also provided practical skills applicable in daily life. This activity is expected to contribute to women’s economic empowerment and strengthen sustainable household financial resilience.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance teachers’ competencies in implementing mathematics instruction oriented toward the development of students’ critical thinking skills through training on the RHOMI (Realistic and Holistic Mathematics Integration) model. The program was conducted at SMPN 8 Kota Sungai Penuh using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, positioning teachers as active participants throughout all stages of the program, including planning, action, observation, and reflection. The PAR approach was selected to ensure that the training was participatory, contextual, and sustainable, in line with teachers’ actual classroom needs. The results indicated an improvement in teachers’ understanding of realistic and holistic mathematics learning, as well as a shift in instructional practices from procedural teaching toward more dialogical, reflective, and critical-thinking-oriented learning. Teachers were able to design RHOMI-based instructional materials that integrated real-life contexts with mathematical concepts in a coherent manner. Furthermore, the program fostered collaboration and reflective practices among teachers. Therefore, the PAR-based RHOMI training proved to be an effective community service strategy for improving the quality of mathematics instruction and enhancing students’ critical thinking skills

Abstract

School readiness is a crucial factor in determining children’s successful adaptation and learning processes at the elementary education level. However, many parents still interpret school readiness narrowly, focusing mainly on early academic skills. This community service program aimed to enhance parents’ and teachers’ understanding of children’s readiness to enter elementary school from a holistic perspective, including physical, cognitive, language, social-emotional, and independence aspects. The activity was conducted through an offline educational and participatory approach involving lectures and interactive discussions with parents and early childhood teachers in the IGTK of Sangir Balai Janggo District, Solok Selatan Regency. The results indicated an increased awareness among participants regarding comprehensive school readiness indicators and the strategic role of parents in supporting children during the educational transition period. This program contributes to strengthening family involvement as the primary environment in fostering children’s optimal school readiness.

Abstract

Participation in higher education in Indonesia remains a strategic issue, particularly among vocational high school graduates. This phenomenon is influenced by negative perceptions of bachelor's degree graduates, a strong work and migration orientation, and weak motivation to pursue knowledge. This activity aims to increase student motivation and awareness in continuing their education to higher education through Islamic values-based motivational training at SMKN 2 Pariaman City. The approach used was participatory and educational, using training methods, reflective discussions, higher education counseling, and internalization of Islamic values regarding the importance of seeking knowledge. Data were collected through post-activity observations and participant reflections, then analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The results showed an increase in student understanding of the urgency of higher education, a change in perceptions of the academic world, and increased motivation and interest in continuing their studies to higher education. Islamic values-based mentoring has proven effective in building academic awareness and future orientation in students, thus contributing positively to efforts to increase participation in higher education. Abstract

The implementation of the Strengthening Pancasila Student Profile (P5) projects requires learning resources that are easy to adopt, engaging, and supportive of authentic assessment; however, in practice there are still constraints related to teachers’ ICT literacy, software availability, and the scarcity of ready-to-replicate examples. This training addressed these issues through an integrated package—guidelines and templates for Flip PDF Professional, access to MATLAB/software, and an online mentoring forum—with the following objectives: to train teachers to design digital learning materials using Flip PDF integrated with MATLAB for P5 projects; to enhance teachers’ understanding of technology use in strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile; and to help teachers produce interactive, data-driven, problem-solving-oriented learning resources. The program involved 14 teachers and proceeded in five stages: preparation–agreement, needs identification, Technical Training I (Flip PDF), Technical Training II (MATLAB & P5 integration), and formative–summative evaluation. All participants produced P5 flipbook prototypes featuring multimedia, clear navigation, and reflection pages; most embedded charts/tables generated in MATLAB. Likert-scale questionnaire results indicated positive perceptions (mean 4.40; Cronbach’s α = 0.864), with strengths in facilitation & outputs (4.64), P5 relevance (4.57), sustainability (4.50), and Flip PDF ease of use (4.43). The area requiring further strengthening was MATLAB integration (3.86), which was followed up through technical clinics, dataset templates, and guidance on numeric locale settings. These findings confirm the effectiveness and replicability of this training model in P5 contexts.

Abstract

This community engagement program aims to strengthen the political awareness of party cadres through the integration of the Baddeley–James model and the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach in Kerinci Regency. The primary issue addressed is the limited analytical capacity of cadres in understanding power dynamics, alongside suboptimal ethical political behavior. A participatory method was employed using the ABCD cycle (discovery, dream, design, define, and destiny), combined with training in reading and carrying skills. The results indicate significant improvements in political understanding, active participation, and behavioral transformation toward more critical, reflective, and ethical political practices. Participants were also able to apply these competencies in field activities, particularly in capturing public aspirations and formulating policy recommendations. Furthermore, the program produced a training module and an ABCD-based political awareness model with replication potential. These findings highlight that integrating cognitive and participatory approaches is effective in fostering political behavior transformation and strengthening substantive local democratic practices

Abstract

Science teachers' misconceptions about the implementation of interdisciplinary curriculum, which is often reduced to physical crafts, as well as the dominance of conventional teaching materials, are major problems in Public High Schools in Kerinci Regency. This community service program aims to eliminate theoretical misconceptions and improve the practical capacity of educators in developing STEM for HOTS-based Student Worksheets integrated with local potential. The approach applied is Participatory Action Research (PAR) through four circular stages: Diagnose, Act, Measure, and Reflect. Activities are facilitated collaboratively through structured hybrid mentoring. The results of the community service program confirm the effectiveness of pedagogical interventions with an N-Gain score of 0.71 (High category) for increasing teachers' conceptual understanding. Furthermore, the average instructional performance of educators in executing the Engineering Design Process (EDP) stages in the classroom actually reached 85.40% or exceeded the minimum success indicator. In practice, this program culminates in the standardization of three volumes of STEM LKPD collections with ISBNs that innovatively highlight local potential engineering, such as the utilization of Cassiavera waste and water filtration of Lake Kerinci. This transformation of educator competencies has proven effective in shifting the instructional paradigm to be more divergent in order to stimulate students' critical reasoning.
