Abstract

Early childhood development stimulation has a significant impact on their cognitive, motor, and social growth. The knowledge and practices of mothers in providing developmental stimulation are crucial, especially in communities facing social and economic challenges, such as fishing communities. This study aims to explore the knowledge, practices, challenges, and sources of information related to child development stimulation among mothers in Bone Regency. This study uses a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews. A total of 15 mothers with children aged 0-24 months were selected using purposive sampling. The collected data were analyzed using the Colaizzi method to identify key themes. The majority of mothers have basic knowledge about motor and language stimulation, but they lack understanding of social and cognitive stimulation. The stimulation practices they carry out focus on gross motor stimulation and language through daily conversations. The main challenges faced are limited time due to work as fishermen and economic constraints that affect access to information. The primary sources of information come from personal experience, family, and close friends, with few accessing health services or mass media. The results of the study emphasize the importance of enhancing maternal health education on social and cognitive child stimulation. Additionally, better access to information through effective channels is needed, especially for mothers in areas with time and economic constraints. Community-based education and outreach can improve mothers' understanding and practices in child development stimulation.

Abstract

Elderly individuals are a vulnerable group prone to mental health disorders, especially depression. Family support serves as a protective factor that can influence the psychological well-being of the elderly, yet its impact is often underexplored. This study aims to explore the meaning of family support in relation to depression among elderly individuals, particularly within the context of their daily lives. The study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. Ten elderly informants experiencing mild to moderate depressive symptoms were selected through purposive sampling and interviewed in-depth. The data were analyzed using Colaizzi's analysis method, which consists of seven stages: reading the transcripts, extracting significant statements, formulating meanings, grouping meanings into themes, creating a comprehensive description, describing the essence structure of the phenomenon, and validating with the participants. From the data analysis, four main themes emerged reflecting the elderly's experiences related to family support: (1) Emotional support as a mental strength for the elderly, (2) Family involvement in daily activities as a form of attention, (3) Barriers in intergenerational communication within the family, and (4) Feelings of loneliness due to lack of family interaction. Family support plays a crucial role in helping the elderly cope with depression. The physical presence of family, empathetic communication, and active involvement in daily activities can provide a sense of security and being valued for the elderly. This study emphasizes the importance of family-based interventions for the prevention and management of depression in the elderly.

Abstract

This progestin injectable contraceptive is a method used to prevent pregnancy in women through intramuscular injections that are effective for three months and do not require daily use. This contraceptive contains the hormone progesterone and does not interfere with breast milk production, making it safe for breastfeeding mothers. In addition to being practical, this method also has a high level of effectiveness in preventing pregnancy. However, like any contraceptive method, the 3-month injection also has side effects that need to be well understood by users to make informed decisions. This study was conducted to describe the level of maternal knowledge regarding the side effects of the 3-month injectable contraceptive at TPMB Mutiara Kasih. The research method used was a descriptive method with a qualitative approach through direct interviews with respondents. The results of the study showed that most mothers had limited knowledge about the side effects of the 3-month injectable contraceptive, such as menstrual irregularities, weight gain, mood changes, and reactions at the injection site. From the research findings, it can be concluded that knowledge is an important aspect that can increase awareness and readiness among mothers to deal with possible side effects of the 3-month injectable contraceptive. The lack of knowledge is likely due to the limited information provided by healthcare workers or the lack of access to other reliable sources. Therefore, regular education and counseling are urgently needed to improve mothers' understanding of the use and side effects of this contraceptive method.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the most common diseases suffered by the elderly. Hypertension is also referred to as “the silent disease” because there are no signs or symptoms that can be seen from the outside. The development of hypertension runs slowly, but is potentially very dangerous. In the initial survey conducted by the researcher, it was obtained data on the number of elderly people who experienced the most hypertension in Nepo Village. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between age and blood pressure of elderly hypertension. The method used in this study uses a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The population in this study were 38 elderly people. The sampling technique used Accidental sampling with a total sample of 27 people according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Measurement of blood pressure using a Sphygmomanomater or Tensimeter (blood pressure measuring device), the use of an observation sheet to record the results of measuring the blood pressure of the elderly and informed consent as a statement of the elderly's willingness to become respondents which contains general elderly data such as identity. The results of statistical tests using the chi-square test obtained a correlation of age with systolic blood pressure p 0.046 <α 0.05 and a correlation of age with diastolic blood pressure p 0.044 <α 0.05, so it can be concluded that there is a correlation between age and blood pressure in elderly hypertension.

Abstract

Posyandu is an important health service unit that plays a crucial role in monitoring the growth and development of infants. The Posyandu cadres have a central role in providing education and health monitoring, yet the effectiveness of their role in this monitoring process has not been thoroughly analyzed. Therefore, it is important to further explore the roles and challenges faced by cadres in carrying out their duties. This study aims to examine the monitoring of infant growth and development by Posyandu cadres at Puskesmas Tosora, as well as the challenges they encounter in its implementation, to enhance understanding of the effectiveness of cadres' roles in this public health program. This research employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method, analyzed using the Colaizzi technique. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with 8 informants directly involved in monitoring infant growth and development at Puskesmas Tosora. The results show that Posyandu cadres have a key role in monitoring infant growth and development, including weight measurement, height measurement, and immunization administration. However, they face challenges such as a lack of formal training, limited Posyandu facilities, and insufficient support from relevant stakeholders. Strategies to address these challenges include collaboration with healthcare workers and the use of local resources. Posyandu cadres play a vital role in monitoring infant growth and development. There is a need for enhanced training and facilities to support their role in optimizing child health services.
