Abstract

Toner formulation is created using a combination of glycerin and propylene glycol. Glycerin can activate transglutaminase activity in the stratum corneum, increase the corneocyte maturation process and reduce scaling in xerotic skin. Propylene glycol is a penetration enhancer so it is usually used as a solvent and carrier for substances that are not soluble in water. As part of the formulation developement, the product is formulated as a toner. This research aims to determine the optimum composition of the toner formula with variation in the concentrations of glycerin and propylene glycol to achieve the optimal formula. This research uses the Simplex Lattice Design method. The evaluation tests carried out were organoleptic, specific gravity, viscosity, pH, transferred volume and hedonic tests. The organoleptic test results are white with a liquid texture and a distinctive aroma of tea tree oil. The specific gravity results meet the range between 1.01-1.1. The panelists' hedonic test results preferred the color and texture/shape of the tea tree oil toner, while the aroma preferred the comparison toner. Optimizing the optimum formula resulted in 12% glycerin and 8% propylene glycol with predicted values of pH 5.91, viscosity 3.70, and volume transferred 95.84. The optimum formula shows an average replication of 1.2 and 3 in the pH test of 5.84, viscosity of 3.76 and volume transferred 96. The results of the optimum formula and predicted values were analyzed using the One Sample T-Test, and the results showed that there were no significant differences. (p>0.05) namely pH test 0.981; viscosity 0.899; and the volume moved was 0.408. The conclusion of this research is that the tea tree oil toner preparation obtained an optimum formula with a ratio of 12% glycerin and 8% propylene glycol.

Abstract

One of the plants that can be used as a natural medicine is the tea tree plant (Melaleuca alternifolia Cheel) which is generally known as the tea tree. The tea tree plant contains essential oils which are useful as antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory. Another plant that can be used as a natural ingredient is the fennel plant (Foeniculum vulgare Mill) which contains essential oils which are useful as antimicrobials. In order to develop the preparation, a telon oil preparation was formulated. The use of additional ingredients in the formulation of telon oil preparations, namely VCO and Olive Oil as vegetable oils which function as solvents for essential oils, can certainly affect the physical properties of telon oil preparations, so a method is needed to find an optimum formula that meets the good physical properties of the preparation. This research aims to determine the optimum formula composition of telon oil preparations with variations of VCO and Olive Oil using the Simplex Lattice Design method by looking at the results of evaluation tests of the physical properties of telon oil preparations which include organoleptic tests, homogeneity tests, pH tests, specific gravity tests, viscosity tests and displaced volume test. The results of organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, specific gravity, viscosity and transferred volume have met the requirements. Analysis using SLD showed that the optimal preparation formula for baby telon tree tea oil (Melaleuca alternifolia Cheel) was obtained with a VCO and Olive Oil composition of 78.4% and 19.6% with a specific gravity response value of 0.906 gr/ml, viscosity 36.84 cp and volume transferred 57.33 ml. In the hedonic testing of baby telon oil preparations, tree tea oil (Melaleuca alternifolia Cheel) with variations of VCO and olive oil from the optimum formula in terms of color was preferred more by the panelists.

Abstract

Background: As the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, Indonesia faces unique challenges regarding medication use during Ramadan. Proper understanding of Sharia principles in medication use is crucial to ensure therapeutic effectiveness without disrupting fasting rituals. However, many people still lack knowledge about appropriate medication rules during Ramadan. Objective: This study aims to assess patients' level of knowledge and compliance in using medications according to Sharia principles during Ramadan at Cahaya Farma Pharmacy in Semarang. Methods: This study employed a cross-sectional design with a quantitative approach. Data were collected through questionnaires administered to 60 pharmacy visitors aged 17–50 years who agreed to participate. Data analysis involved calculating the percentage of correct answers and categorizing knowledge levels into good (76–100%), moderate (56–75%), and poor (≤55%). Results: 63% of respondents had a moderate understanding of medication use during Ramadan. Most patients correctly recognized that oral medications invalidate fasting (100%), but knowledge about non-oral preparations such as sublingual drugs (5%) and inhalers (55%) remained low. Understanding of dosage schedule adjustments for chronic conditions like diabetes was also limited (5%). Conclusion: Patients' knowledge about Sharia-compliant medication use during Ramadan was at a moderate level. More intensive education is needed, particularly concerning non-oral medications and therapy adjustments for chronic diseases. Collaboration between healthcare professionals and religious leaders could enhance public understanding and promote safe, Sharia-compliant medication practices.

Abstract

Background: Stunting remains a major public health issue in Indonesia, where maternal knowledge is a critical factor for prevention. However, limited evidence exists regarding the specific knowledge gaps of mothers in semi-urban communities in Indonesia, which hampers targeted interventions. This study aimed to analyze maternal knowledge levels regarding stunting and its associated factors. Methods: This research utilized a descriptive cross-sectional design (reported according to STROBE guidelines) with 265 mothers of toddlers selected via stratified random sampling. Sample size justification and detailed inclusion/exclusion criteria were included. A validated and reliable questionnaire (Cronbach's α=0.87) was used. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test. Results: Most respondents (71.7%) had a good knowledge level. However, a statistically significant knowledge deficit was found concerning the specific causes of stunting (χ2=49.900;p<0.001). Factors such as education and employment status were significantly associated with knowledge levels. Conclusion: While general awareness of stunting is high, a critical gap exists in mothers' understanding of its complex causes. Educational interventions must become more focused. Future studies should employ longitudinal or interventional designs to assess the causal pathways between maternal knowledge and stunting prevention behaviors (Harmonized with Practical Implications).

Abstract

This study examines the utilization of digital information systems in Indonesia from a national perspective using a descriptive quantitative approach and national digital indicators interpreted through the People–Process–Technology framework. The findings indicate that digital information systems in Indonesia demonstrate strong utilization in terms of user participation and technology adoption, particularly through mobile-based access. These results confirm that digital technologies have become an essential part of daily activities and function as mainstream infrastructures at the national level. However, the analysis also reveals that infrastructure readiness and supporting processes have developed at a slower pace compared to user adoption and technological access. This imbalance may limit the effectiveness and consistency of digital information system utilization, despite high levels of access. From a People–Process–Technology perspective, the people and technology dimensions appear relatively strong, while the process dimension represents the primary constraint. Overall, the study concludes that effective utilization of digital information systems requires balanced development across people, process, and technology dimensions to fully maximize the benefits of widespread digital adoption in Indonesia.

Abstract

Aromatherapy is a form of complementary therapy that utilizes plant-derived essential oils to support physical and mental health. Chamomile essential oil (Matricaria recutita) possesses a characteristic calming aroma and has been reported to exhibit various pharmacological activities, including antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, and sedative effects. Rose essential oil (Rosa alba) is also known for its antidepressant and anxiolytic properties, as well as its potential to reduce blood pressure and alleviate sleep disorders, migraines, and stress. This study aims to determine the optimal composition of chamomile and rose essential oils in an aromatherapy medicated oil formulation based on its physical characteristics. The formulation employed olive oil and red palm oil as carrier bases due to their high antioxidant content, particularly vitamin E and carotenoids. Optimization was conducted using a Simplex Lattice Design (SLD) approach with eight combination formulations. The prepared formulations were evaluated for pH, specific gravity, and displaced volume. The results demonstrated that the combination of chamomile and rose essential oils significantly influenced the physical characteristics of the formulation. Based on the optimization of physical parameters (pH, specific gravity, and displaced volume) the optimal formulation was obtained with a composition of 1.5% chamomile essential oil and 1.5% rose essential oil. This formulation exhibited acceptable physical characteristics.
