Abstract

Nosocomial urinary tract infections (NUTI) are one of the most common healthcare-associated infections, particularly in patients with urinary catheters. This article aims to examine the risk factors, causative pathogens, and prevention strategies for NOS based on current literature. The method used was a structured literature review with the PRISMA approach through a search of articles in the Scopus and PubMed databases published between 2020 and 2025. Articles that met the inclusion criteria were analyzed descriptively. The review results showed that the main risk factors included duration of catheter insertion, intensive care unit stay, advanced age, comorbidities, and service factors such as re-catheterization and antibiotic use. The causative pathogens were dominated by Gram-negative bacteria, particularly Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Acinetobacter baumannii, with varying distributions across care settings. Effective prevention strategies include limiting catheter use and duration, implementing aseptic technique, close monitoring in high-risk units, and innovation in catheter technology. In conclusion, prevention of nosocomial urinary tract infections requires a comprehensive approach that integrates patient, pathogen, and health care system aspects.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between peer support involvement and anxiety levels among nursing students. A total of 121 students from the Faculty of Nursing, Class of 2023, participated in this study. Descriptive analysis showed that the majority of respondents were female, aged 21 years, with peer support mostly in the moderate category and anxiety levels predominantly normal. The relationship between peer support and anxiety was analyzed using Spearman Rank correlation, resulting in a significant, strong, and negative correlation (r = −0.744, p = 0.000). This indicates that higher involvement in peer support is associated with lower anxiety levels among students. The findings highlight the importance of peer support as a protective mechanism in maintaining students’ psychological well-being and coping with academic and social stressors. The study suggests that structured peer support programs, including peer mentoring and counseling, can be an effective strategy to enhance emotional regulation and reduce anxiety. Implementing such programs may contribute to a supportive academic environment and improved mental health outcomes for nursing students.

Abstract

This study examined the relationship between self-disclosure and quarter-life crisis among undergraduate nursing students at the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Islam Sultan Agung Semarang. Using a quantitative cross-sectional design, data were collected from 213 final-year students through validated self-disclosure and quarter-life crisis questionnaires. Descriptive analysis showed that most respondents had moderate to high levels of self-disclosure and experienced quarter-life crisis at low to moderate levels. Bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test revealed a significant association between self-disclosure and quarter-life crisis (p < 0.05). Students with higher levels of self-disclosure were more likely to report lower levels of quarter-life crisis, whereas those with low self-disclosure tended to experience higher crisis intensity. These findings indicate that self-disclosure functions as a protective psychosocial mechanism that facilitates emotional regulation, adaptive coping, and access to social support during the transition to adulthood. The study highlights the importance of strengthening interpersonal communication skills and providing supportive counseling programs to reduce developmental distress among nursing students. Promoting healthy self-disclosure may contribute to better psychological adjustment and academic well-being in higher education settings.

Abstract

Age-related decline often affects the elderly’s ability to perform Activities of Daily Living (ADL). Reduced functional capacity may lead to greater dependence and negatively influence physical and psychological well-being. The quality of life of older adults is closely linked to their ability to remain independent in daily activities. Understanding this relationship is essential to improving elderly care services. This study aimed to examine the association between ADL independence and quality of life among elderly residents in Pucang Gading Semarang and Wening Wardoyo Ungaran Social Care Homes. A quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach was employed. The Barthel Index was used to assess ADL independence, while the WHOQOL-OLD questionnaire measured quality of life. A total of 135 elderly individuals were selected through purposive sampling based on predetermined inclusion criteria. The association between variables was analyzed using Somers’ d to determine significance and direction of the relationship. Most participants demonstrated independent ADL performance, and the majority reported high quality of life. Statistical analysis showed a p-value of 0.000 and an r-value of 0.581, indicating a significant and positive relationship between ADL independence and quality of life. This study confirms that independence in performing daily activities is significantly associated with better quality of life among elderly residents. Greater ADL independence contributes to improved well-being within the social care environment.

Abstract

Bullying is a form of psychosocial violence that frequently occurs among adolescents and can lead to long-term negative impacts on mental health, including anxiety. In such conditions, social support from family, peers, and the surrounding environment plays an important protective role in helping adolescents reduce anxiety levels and accelerate psychological recovery. To determine the relationship between social support and anxiety levels among bullying victims. This study employed a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of 63 bullying victims, all of whom were selected using a total sampling technique. Research instruments included the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) and the Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (ZSAS). Data analysis was conducted using the Spearman Rank test. Most respondents were aged 16–25 years and were predominantly university students. Based on variable distribution, the majority of respondents reported low social support and moderate levels of anxiety. Bivariate analysis indicated a significant relationship between social support and anxiety levels with p = 0.00 (p < 0.05), meaning that higher social support is associated with lower anxiety. There is a strong and significant negative relationship between social support and anxiety levels among bullying victims at UPTD PPA Kota Bogor.

Abstract

Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a public health threat in tropical regions such as Indonesia, with prevention highly dependent on family behavior. The level of knowledge and family attitudes are suspected to have a significant effect on the effectiveness of prevention efforts, but there are still gaps in their implementation, as seen in the work area of the Kedungmundu Health Center with quite high cases. The research method uses a cross-sectional design with a correlational quantitative approach. A sample of 66 families was selected using consecutive sampling techniques from a population of 205 dengue cases (March-May 2025). Data were collected through a structured questionnaire and analyzed univariate and bivariate using the Chi-Square test. Most respondents had a low level of knowledge (59.1%) and a negative attitude (68.2%) towards dengue prevention, with 62.1% indicating poor prevention practices. The results of the bivariate analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and the prevention of dengue (p=0.002; r=0.362) and between family attitudes and the prevention of dengue (p=0.000; r=0.632). The conclusion of this study There is a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and family attitudes and dengue prevention practices in the work area of the Kedungmundu Health Center, although the majority of respondents still have low knowledge, negative attitudes, and suboptimal prevention practices.

Abstract

Hypertension is a prevalent chronic health condition and a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease and chronic kidney disease. Persistent elevation of blood pressure can lead to progressive damage to blood vessels and glomeruli through hemodynamic and structural mechanisms, ultimately resulting in a decline in the glomerular filtration rate (GFR). In addition to blood pressure levels, the duration of hypertension plays a crucial role in determining the extent of renal damage over time. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between blood pressure, duration of hypertension, and GFR. A quantitative study with a cross-sectional design was conducted involving 103 patients with hypertension. Data were obtained from medical records, including systolic and diastolic blood pressure, duration of hypertension, and GFR values, and were analyzed using Spearman’s correlation test. The results showed that systolic blood pressure was significantly associated with GFR (p < 0.05), with a weak negative correlation, while diastolic blood pressure showed no significant association. The duration of hypertension was also significantly associated with GFR. In conclusion, systolic blood pressure and the duration of hypertension influence renal filtration function, highlighting the importance of regular monitoring of blood pressure and GFR to prevent further kidney damage.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a serious public health problem in Indonesia, with morbidity and mortality rates continuing to rise. The main prevention effort is carried out through mosquito breeding site elimination (MBSE) using the 3M Plus method, the implementation of which is highly dependent on the role of the family as the smallest unit of society. Family support plays an important role in shaping the awareness, motivation, and consistency of family members in implementing PSN on an ongoing basis. This study aims to analyze the relationship between family support and the implementation of PSN in the working area of the Kedungmundu Community Health Center. The study used a correlative analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 66 respondents selected using consecutive sampling. Data collection was conducted using a family support questionnaire and a PSN implementation questionnaire. Bivariate analysis used Sommers' d test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that some respondents had low family support (37.9%) and PSN implementation was in the poor category (40.9%). Sommers' d test produced a p-value of 0.000 and a correlation coefficient of r = 0.628, indicating a significant, strong, and positive relationship between family support and PSN implementation. The better the family support, the more optimal the PSN implementation.

Abstract

Elderly people experience physiological changes, affecting decreased kidney function, purine metabolism, and the function of the endocrine and musculoskeletal systems. This decline in body function leads to susceptibility to degenerative diseases, one of which is hyperuricemia or excess uric acid. Factors associated with gout include gender, BMI, physical activity, rest habits, and diet, as these can reduce uric acid excretion. This study was quantitative, using a retrospective cohort approach. The total sample size was 153 respondents. Sampling was conducted using the purposive sampling technique and the Slovin formula. The research instrument consisted of a dietary questionnaire, The PASE (Physical Activities Scale of Elderly) questionnaire, digital scales, metline, and the GCU Easy Touch test were used. Data were analyzed using the Spearman test and logistic regression. The results showed that the majority of respondents had a good diet, good physical activity, and a BMI of obesity category I and experienced hyperuricemia. This study showed statistical results using the Spearman test, with a value of <0.001 for diet, 0.001 for physical activity, and 0.007 for BMI. The logistic regression test showed that diet was the most influential factor with a p-value of <0.001. It can be concluded that there is a relationship between diet, physical activity, and BMI with uric acid levels in the elderly at the Bangetayu Community Health Center

Abstract

Stroke causes various physical, psychological, and social changes that may reduce a patient’s ability to adapt. Resilience plays a crucial role in helping patients manage their condition after a stroke. Family support and self-efficacy are important factors that can strengthen resilience; however, the level of resilience varies among individuals. Therefore, it is necessary to examine the relationship between family support, self-efficacy, and resilience among stroke patients. To determine the relationship between family support and self-efficacy with the level of resilience among stroke patients at Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital, Semarang. This study employed a quantitative correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 114 respondents were included using a total sampling technique. The instruments used were the Family Support Questionnaire, the Stroke Self-Efficacy Questionnaire, and the Connor–Davidson Resilience Scale. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation test. The findings revealed a significant relationship between family support and resilience (p = 0.000; r = 0.665), indicating a strong positive correlation. Self-efficacy and resilience (p = 0.000; r = 0.851), indicating a very strong positive correlation. These results show that higher family support and higher self-efficacy are associated with better resilience in stroke patients. There is a significant and strong relationship between family support and self-efficacy with the level of resilience among stroke patients. Increased family support and stronger self-efficacy contribute to higher resilience in managing post-stroke conditions.
