Abstract

The particular study aimed to know the utilization of media in guidance and counseling service provided by school counselor. Quantitative approach was used in the study. The research instrument was questionnaire with five alternative answers, such: very often; often; rare; sometime; and never. The result of the study showed the use of media in guidance and counseling service by school counselor ranging from visual media, electronic media; audio visual media; computer media.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of group counseling with cognitive behavior therapy approach using passive music therapy technique to reduce the academic anxiety of students who is writing thesis. The research used quasi-experimental design (pretest, posttest, and follow-up). Group counseling was conducted for five meetings, and follow-up was performed two weeks after the treatment. Research subjects were seven students. Purposive sampling technique was used to select the subjects, that is based on inclusion criteria and level of academic anxiety which is obtained from academic anxiety scale (rxy = 0.536-0.823, coefficient alpha = 0.963). The results showed that group counseling with cognitive behavior therapy approach using passive music therapy technique was significantly effective to reduce the students’ academic anxiety in pretest vs. posttest and pretest vs follow-up, but in posttest vs. follow-up there was a slight increase in academic anxiety. Passive music therapy which is integrated into group counseling with cognitive behavior counseling approach, it is not only able to solve the individual problems but also able to help individuals to analyze their thoughts and behaviors through passive music activities with guided imagery.

Abstract

In recent year, there is a number of news in the mass media on violence in the school, including bullying. The high number of juvenile delinquency is the result of a lack of ability to control emotions in an acceptable way, causing the individual to easily engage the group's influence to perform negative behavior, including bullying behavior. From the above explanation, we interested to examine more deeply how the emotional maturity in adolescents bully in Junior High School 9 Banda Aceh. This study was done through quantitave method by using using the Emotional Maturity scale developed by Katkovsky and Gorlow. The results showed that most of the students had emotional maturity belonging to the low category with the percentage of 80.65%. To that end, parents and teachers have a very important role, in which they must be consistent in educating, being open and dialogical, not authoritarian, or imposing a will to the adolescents.

Abstract

In general, the particular research and development aimed to produce modules for students and guidebook modules for counselor which is acceptable both theoretically and practically. The acceptability is assessed in the terms of format or design, as well as the material content and practice. The developmental procedures adapted from Borg and Gall model, namely: (1) stage I preliminary study and planning, (2) stage II product development, (3) stage III product trial, (4) stage IV product revision, and (5) final product. The product was a Self-Assessment Training Module as a Career Stage Planning of Students in Senior High School and its guidebook. The results of product trials showed that the developed product had a “very good” acceptability score. In conclusion, the product is accepted both theoretically and practically. The acceptability of the product give implications that the using of Self-Assessment Training Module can help the students to recognize, assess, and understand themselves, and then they can plan their careers appropriately. The module can help the school counselor to guide students in self-assessment as the initial stage of career planning.

Abstract

This research and development aims to produce a cybercounseling reality website and a reality cybercounseling guidebook to improve self-disclosure for Vocational High School students which are grateful theoretically and practically. The research and development study steps are: preliminary study, product development, and product test. Product’s guidelines are tested using one group pretest-posttest design. Product test results show that cybercounseling reality website is gratefully theoretically and practically and also effectively to improve Vocational High School students’ self-disclosure.
