Abstract

This study explores the role of leadership communication in shaping organizational culture through the lens of the Communicative Constitution of Organizations (CCO) theory. While previous studies often treat leadership and culture as separate organizational elements, this research positions communication as the core mechanism that constitutes both. The objective of this study is to examine how leaders’ communicative practices—ranging from narrative construction to discursive interactions—actively create, maintain, and transform organizational culture. Employing a qualitative case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis within a values-based organization. Thematic analysis was conducted to identify communicative patterns that reflect the enactment of leadership and the constitution of cultural values. The findings indicate that leadership communication does not merely reflect organizational culture but functions as its constitutive force, particularly through symbolic narratives, strategic language, and everyday interactions that reinforce shared meanings. Furthermore, the study reveals how organizational members co-author these cultural narratives through engagement with leadership discourse. The conclusion emphasizes the importance of viewing leadership as a communicative process that continuously shapes organizational reality. This study contributes to the development of communicative organizational theory and offers practical implications for leaders aiming to build strong, value-driven organizational cultures through intentional and inclusive communication

Abstract

This article discusses the transformation of Indonesia's halal industry in the face of the challenges and opportunities of globalization, emphasizing the importance of integrating local values as a competitive strength. Amid the growing global demand for halal products, Indonesia holds a strategic position as the country with the largest Muslim population in the world. However, Indonesia's halal industry competitiveness is still limited by the dominance of regulatory approaches and weak innovation based on culture. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with a literature review and case study approach, such as small-medium enterprises (SMEs) producing herbal medicine in Pasuruan and the Peh-Preneur community in Kediri. The findings indicate that local wisdom such as mutual cooperation, sustainability, and honesty in production can be a distinguishing element in branding halal products that align with global consumer trends. Furthermore, digitalization plays a crucial role in boosting visibility and market penetration for products based on local values. This article recommends that government policies prioritize local values in halal certification programs and encourage industry players to leverage cultural narratives in product and marketing strategies. The integration of regulation, innovation, and local wisdom is expected to create an inclusive halal industry ecosystem that is highly competitive and deeply rooted in the nation's identity amid a homogeneous global market.

Abstract

This study investigates the practice of linguistic manipulation in political campaigns by female figures in Indonesia, focusing on the use of suggestive strategies in constructing leadership discourse. The research is grounded in the assumption that women in politics face challenges in establishing authority amid gender-biased social expectations. To address these challenges, female political actors tend to rely on persuasive yet indirect language, employing suggestive structures that operate implicitly through context. The study aims to identify the forms and distribution of suggestive strategies and to describe how they function in framing authority, trust, and emotional connection with the public. Employing a qualitative approach supported by corpus analysis using AntConc software version 4.2.0, the study adopts Relevance Theory and Hypnotic Language Pattern as its theoretical framework, providing a conceptual basis for analyzing implicit meanings and the persuasive power of suggestion in political communication. Primary data were drawn from transcripts of speeches, public debates, and social media posts by Indonesian female politicians, while secondary data included online media articles and public documentation. Features such as Word List, Collocates, Concordance, and N-Grams were utilized to identify frequency, collocation patterns, contextual distribution, and suggestive phrase structures. Manual coding was conducted based on ten categories of linguistic suggestion, validated through a Cohen’s Kappa test (κ = 0.86), indicating a very high level of agreement. The findings reveal that presupposition accounted for 29.3% of all suggestive utterances, followed by embedded commands (21.7%), vague language (14.6%), and universal quantifiers (12.1%). Tag questions and double binds contributed 7.9% and 6.4%, respectively, while the remainder was distributed among truisms, implied cause-effect, and comparative deletion. Suggestive utterances were most prevalent in public speech texts (46.5%), followed by social media posts (33.2%) and media quotations (20.3%). Contextual distribution showed that suggestive strategies were intensively employed in the opening and closing segments of campaigns, as well as in parts emphasizing emotional proximity and calls to action.

Abstract

This study explores the communication challenges organizations face when adopting AI-driven management systems, a growing trend in digital transformation. The integration of algorithmic management, where AI systems autonomously handle tasks such as scheduling, performance tracking, and decision-making, has led to a shift in traditional communication flows. This research aims to investigate how these systems alter organizational communication, focusing on the implications for employee engagement, feedback mechanisms, and decision-making processes. Using a qualitative approach with multiple case studies across the logistics, e-commerce, and digital services sectors, data was collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and document analysis. The findings reveal that algorithmic management systems reduce communication to one-way, impersonal directives, resulting in emotional dissonance, alienation, and ambiguity among employees. Informal communication networks emerge as critical spaces for meaning-making and restoring agency. The study concludes that while algorithmic systems optimize efficiency, they must be designed to incorporate dialogic processes and feedback loops to preserve organizational cohesion and trust. This research highlights the need for more communicatively informed approaches to algorithmic management that balance efficiency with relational dynamics.

Abstract

Conflict in public policy formulation is a complex and multidimensional phenomenon that reflects clashes of interest among stakeholders and encompasses individual behavioral dynamics, institutional positions, and the surrounding governance structures. This study aims to analyze the behavioral dimensions of conflict in the policy formulation process by integrating the behavioral conflict and stakeholder theory. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with data collected through literature studies and policy document analysis. Data analysis was conducted through reduction, presentation, and interpretation processes. The findings reveal that conflict in public policy formulation is triggered by diverging interests and limited actor capacities, politically driven external pressures, and high cognitive heterogeneity. Six behavioral dimensions of conflict—internal, external, cognitive heterogeneity, behavioral repertoire, conflict response, and attachment dynamics—were identified as influencing the escalation and resolution of conflict within the policy context. Furthermore, power imbalances among stakeholders contribute to structural conflicts that hinder the realization of inclusive deliberative processes. The discussion highlights the strategic role of public administration in creating collaborative spaces, facilitating inter-party dialogue, and designing conflict resolution mechanisms grounded in values of participation, accountability, and transparency. Therefore, strengthening institutional capacity and designing collaborative governance structures are urgently needed to enhance public policy legitimacy and sustainability. These findings offer conceptual contributions to understanding conflict in public policy and its implications for more responsive and inclusive public administration practices.

Abstract

This paper explores the challenges and responsibilities of nursing students as professional citizens within the healthcare system. In an era marked by rapid health transitions, social inequality, and digital transformation, nursing students are expected not only to acquire clinical competence but also to demonstrate civic engagement and social accountability. Through a literature review approach, this study examines the roles of nursing students in promoting health equity, advocating for community welfare, and influencing healthcare policy. The findings reveal that nursing students face several obstacles in fulfilling their civic duties, including limited curriculum content, lack of institutional support, and academic pressures. However, when properly guided and supported, they can become key agents of change in addressing health disparities, strengthening community trust, and promoting ethical healthcare practices. The paper concludes that integrating citizenship education into nursing programs is essential for producing socially responsible healthcare professionals who are capable of responding to both individual and collective health needs. This study contributes to the broader understanding of how nursing education can be designed to prepare future nurses not only as caregivers but also as advocates, educators, and civic leaders in public health.
