Abstract

Although Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) emphasize character education through moral values, religious practices, and exemplary role models, bullying continues to occur within these institutions. Existing studies have highlighted the potential of pesantren culture in fostering positive student behavior; however, empirical evidence regarding its effectiveness in preventing bullying remains fragmented and is largely dominated by qualitative research. This study aims to synthesize the available empirical evidence on the effectiveness of the pesantren cultural approach in preventing bullying among santri through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, literature published between 2015 and 2025 was systematically identified from Google Scholar and the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). Of the 200 records initially identified, 10 studies met the inclusion criteria after screening, quality appraisal using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Critical Appraisal Checklist, and full-text review. The synthesis indicates that pesantren culture contributes to bullying prevention by strengthening empathy, moral awareness, emotional regulation, and a positive social climate through value internalization, exemplary leadership, mentoring systems, religious practices, and collaborative conflict resolution. However, current evidence is predominantly derived from qualitative studies using indirect indicators of bullying prevention, limiting robust conclusions regarding causal effectiveness. This review contributes to the literature by consolidating fragmented evidence on the role of pesantren culture in bullying prevention while highlighting the need for rigorous quantitative and longitudinal studies that operationalize pesantren culture as a measurable construct and examine its direct influence on bullying behavior among santri.

Abstract

Automotive welding processes require high process stability because welding defects directly influence product reliability and manufacturing cost. This study investigates the reduction of spot crack defects in an automotive Rear Door welding process using the Six Sigma DMAIC (Define–Measure–Analyze–Improve–Control) methodology. A quantitative case study approach was applied by integrating defect analysis, process capability measurement, Pareto analysis, Fishbone analysis, and corrective action implementation. The initial assessment identified 20 spot crack defects from 2,400 production units, resulting in a DPMO value of 2,083.33 and a process capability level of 4.37 sigma. Root cause analysis revealed that the defects were mainly associated with insufficient operator knowledge, unstable welding gun positioning due to damaged gun shanks, limited inspection coverage, and the absence of welding position control. Improvement actions included operator retraining, equipment replacement, additional inspection points, and implementation of a welding gun guide fixture. After improvement implementation, monitoring of 2,380 production units showed zero spot crack defects, achieving a DPMO value of 0 and process capability above 6 sigma. The findings demonstrate that a structured Six Sigma DMAIC approach combined with welding-specific process controls can effectively enhance automotive welding quality and support sustainable defect prevention.

Abstract

The principle of good faith is a fundamental element in contractual relationships, requiring parties to perform agreements fairly and responsibly. However, contractual certainty may be undermined when one party unilaterally terminates an agreement by relying on internal corporate limitations or procedural arguments to avoid contractual obligations. This study examines the legal consequences of bad faith and the civil liability arising from the unilateral termination of a cooperation agreement based on Decision No. 322/Pdt.G/2012/PN.Bks. This study employs normative juridical research using statute, conceptual, and case approaches through the analysis of primary and secondary legal materials. The findings demonstrate that the Defendant’s unilateral termination of the waste management cooperation agreement constituted an unlawful act under Article 1365 of the Indonesian Civil Code because the action was conducted in bad faith, violated contractual fairness, caused actual economic losses, and had a direct causal relationship with the Plaintiff’s loss. The study further reveals that compensation mechanisms for losses arising from unlawful acts may be assessed by applying the principles contained in Articles 1246–1248 of the Civil Code by analogy, covering actual costs, losses, and expected interests. This study contributes to the development of contract law by emphasizing that internal corporate procedural limitations cannot be used as a justification for avoiding contractual responsibility when such actions violate the principle of good faith and cause harm to contractual partners.

Abstract

Intra-family theft offenses present a distinct challenge in criminal law because the consequences of such offenses extend beyond material losses and affect trust, emotional relationships, and family stability. Unlike ordinary theft cases, offenses committed within family relationships require a careful balance between enforcing criminal responsibility and preserving social bonds. Although restorative justice has been increasingly recognized within the Indonesian criminal justice system, its application in intra-family theft cases remains insufficiently examined, particularly regarding its legal framework, implementation mechanism, and contribution to reconciliation. This study examines the role of restorative justice in resolving intra-family theft offenses through a reconciliation-based criminal settlement approach under Indonesian criminal law. This research employs normative juridical analysis using statutory, conceptual, and case approaches by examining relevant legal provisions, restorative justice regulations, and legal practices. The findings indicate that restorative justice provides an alternative settlement mechanism through voluntary mediation, offender accountability, restitution, and reconciliation between victims and offenders. The effectiveness of this approach is influenced by the willingness of offenders to acknowledge responsibility, the voluntary participation of victims, the restoration of losses, and the ability of mediators to facilitate balanced agreements. Restorative justice offers a more appropriate approach for intra-family theft offenses by integrating criminal accountability with social restoration, reducing unnecessary criminalization, and maintaining family relationships.

Abstract

Rapid developments in Machine Learning (ML) and Data Analytics (DA) are reshaping Information Systems (IS) from transactional tools into intelligent, socio-technical ecosystems. However, existing literature remains fragmented between purely algorithmic focus and organizational adoption. This Systematic Literature Review (SLR) synthesizes 48 high-impact Scopus-indexed studies published between 2020 and 2026, following the PRISMA 2020 framework, to map the architectural and organizational integration of ML and DA in IS transformation. Our findings reveal a paradigm shift across five dominant thematic clusters: predictive forecasting, intelligent automation, big data integration, Explainable AI (XAI), and Human-AI collaboration. Rather than pure automation, the literature strongly underscores a transition toward Human-Centered AI, where model interpretability and socio-technical governance are critical to user trust and system performance. Furthermore, we identify core deployment bottlenecks—specifically regarding algorithmic transparency, cross-system interoperability, data privacy, and ethical governance. This study contributes a novel conceptual framework illustrating the interplay between technical ML capabilities, cross-cutting enablers, and organizational value creation, offering actionable guidelines for designing sustainable, transparent, and adaptive AI-driven IS.

Abstract

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) has rapidly transformed higher education practices, creating new opportunities for pedagogical innovation while introducing complex challenges related to assessment validity, academic integrity, and institutional governance. However, existing studies remain fragmented across technological adoption, learning processes, assessment practices, and ethical considerations, limiting a comprehensive understanding of how GenAI can be integrated responsibly into higher education ecosystems. This systematic literature review aims to synthesize current evidence on the educational implications of GenAI by examining its influence on teaching transformation, student learning, assessment redesign, and academic integrity governance. Following the PRISMA framework, relevant studies were systematically identified, screened, and analyzed to reveal emerging patterns, challenges, and future research directions in GenAI adoption within higher education. The synthesis revealed four interconnected themes: (1) transformation of teaching practices through AI-supported instructional design and efficiency improvement, (2) enhancement of student learning through personalization and self-regulated learning support, (3) evolution of assessment toward authentic and competency-oriented approaches, and (4) development of institutional governance frameworks addressing ethical, privacy, transparency, and integrity concerns. The findings indicate that successful GenAI integration requires a balanced approach combining technological capability, pedagogical redesign, and responsible governance. This review contributes to Artificial Intelligence in Education (AIED) research by proposing an integrated perspective for sustainable GenAI adoption and identifying priorities for future empirical investigations.

Abstract

Sexual violence committed by medical professionals within healthcare settings presents a complex legal challenge, blending criminal conduct with the abuse of professional authority and institutional trust. This study analyzes the criminal liability of Specialist Medical Education Program (PPDS) physicians in sexual violence crimes, focusing on the judicial reasoning in Bandung District Court Decision Number 669/Pid.Sus/2025/PN Bdg. Employing a normative juridical method with statutory, conceptual, and case approaches, this research examines the intersection of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Sexual Violence Crimes (UU TPKS), Law Number 17 of 2023 concerning Health, and the doctrine of criminal responsibility (geen straf zonder schuld).  The findings reveal that the defendant’s dual status as a medical trainee and healthcare provider does not constitute a legal defense or ground for eliminating criminal liability. All statutory elements of sexual violence were fulfilled, accompanied by proven intentionality (dolus), criminal capacity (toerekeningsvatbaarheid), and the absence of exculpatory grounds. Crucially, the court operationalized unequal power relations and the abuse of professional trust as aggravating contextual factors rather than mere background facts. This study concludes that professional medical status entails heightened legal obligations rather than criminal immunity, emphasizing the necessity of integrating criminal prosecution with institutional oversight and victim-centered safeguards in teaching hospitals.

Abstract

Medical personnel serving in conflict-affected areas face risks of violence, security threats, and disruptions to healthcare delivery that may endanger their safety while simultaneously undermining the continued realization of the population’s right to health. Indonesia has established a legal basis for protection through national health law and International Humanitarian Law; however, a gap remains between normative guarantees and protection that can be effectively implemented in practice. This study aims to construct an integrated legal protection model for medical personnel in conflict-affected areas of Indonesia. It employs a qualitative approach with a socio-legal research design based on document analysis and online sources. Data were obtained from legislation and regulations, institutional documents, scholarly literature, reports issued by national and international organizations, and credible online news sources, and were subsequently analyzed using qualitative thematic content analysis and source triangulation. The findings indicate that the principal challenge in protecting medical personnel lies not merely in the absence of legal norms, but in the lack of integration among protection mechanisms before, during, and after deployment. This study develops a continuum of legal protection that connects risk assessment, security measures, deployment protocols, reporting and early-warning systems, legal assistance, victim recovery, investigation, and accountability across four dimensions: preventive, operational, remedial, and accountability protection. The model shifts the orientation of protection from a reactive and fragmented approach toward a preventive, continuous, and human-centered system. Strengthening its implementation requires operational regulations and inter-agency coordination to safeguard medical personnel while ensuring the continuity of healthcare services in conflict-affected areas.

Abstract

The growing complexity of contemporary educational challenges indicates that character education requires not only the transmission of moral values but also the development of internal mechanisms that enable individuals to regulate their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors consistently. However, existing approaches to character education often separate spiritual-moral foundations from psychological mechanisms of self-regulation, creating a conceptual gap between ethical orientation and behavioral regulation. This study aims to critically examine and comparatively interpret Al-Ghazali’s concept of tazkiyat al-nafs and Albert Bandura’s theory of self-regulation in order to formulate an integrative model for Islamic character education. Employing a qualitative library research design through philosophical hermeneutic and comparative analysis, this study examines the primary works of Al-Ghazali and Bandura along with relevant scholarly literature on moral education and self-regulated learning. The findings demonstrate that both perspectives acknowledge human agency and emphasize internal processes of reflection, evaluation, and behavioral transformation. Nevertheless, Al-Ghazali conceptualizes self-regulation within a spiritual-ethical framework based on purification of the soul, muhasabah, mujahadah, and moral orientation toward God, whereas Bandura explains self-regulation through cognitive and social mechanisms involving self-monitoring, self-judgment, self-reaction, and self-efficacy. This study proposes an integrative conceptual model of Islamic character education in which tazkiyat al-nafs provides the spiritual and ethical foundation, while self-regulation mechanisms provide the psychological pathway for translating values into consistent behavior. The proposed framework contributes to the development of contemporary Islamic character education by connecting classical Islamic ethics with modern educational psychology in a reflective, adaptive, and transformative approach.

Abstract

Digital transformation has reshaped Islamic educational institutions, including pesantren, by providing opportunities for technological innovation while simultaneously creating challenges in maintaining students’ moral development within digital environments. Although previous studies have examined digital transformation, digital parenting, and reflective parenting separately, limited research has explored how these dimensions interact to strengthen students’ digital moral resilience in Islamic boarding school contexts. This study aims to explore the relationship between digital transformation and parenting practices in developing digital moral resilience among students at Al-Wafa Islamic Boarding School, Bekasi, Indonesia. This study employed a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and document analysis involving school leaders, teachers, students, parents, and administrative staff. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis with source and method triangulation to ensure credibility and trustworthiness. The findings indicate that digital transformation at Al-Wafa Islamic Boarding School is implemented through technology-integrated learning, digital management systems, and institutional communication platforms. Meanwhile, parenting practices are strengthened through collaborative digital parenting and reflective parenting approaches involving dialogic communication, value-based guidance, and cooperation between the school and families. These integrated practices contribute to students’ digital moral resilience by strengthening digital ethics, self-regulation, moral awareness, spiritual discipline, and responsible technology use. This study contributes to Islamic education research by demonstrating that digital transformation in pesantren should be understood not merely as technological adoption but as an educational ecosystem integrating technology, family collaboration, and Islamic moral education to support students’ resilience in digital environments.
