Abstract

This study discusses the prophetic leadership model and how to facilitate it in the public bureaucracy. Prophetic leadership is the ability possessed by leaders to influence subordinates under Islamic teachings (leading to the leadership pattern of the Prophet Muhammad). The research started by looking for reading sources (nash al-Qur'an, hadith, journals, and books), then interactive reading, making reading tables, and reducing the essence of reading before being transferred to a worksheet. The finding is that leadership can be explained through extrinsic and intrinsic motivation theory. Prophetic leadership includes inherent leadership because it uses spirituality as the basis of values. In Islam, prophetic leadership comes not only from intrinsic or ethical motivation but the integration of worldly motivations (Hashanah) and the hereafter (Salamah). So it is known that the trigger for prophetic leadership can result from imitating the Prophet Muhammad and social experience. The formation process took a long time, so it was concluded that prophetic leadership could be applied in the public bureaucracy if the state civil servants (ASN) has maturity in religion. Efforts to realize prophetic leadership can be started by analyzing the level of religious maturity. Bringing spiritual nuances into the organization is sufficient to facilitate ASN who have matured in religion. This study is in the analysis stage and predicts its application opportunities. Further researchers need to present best practice cases from this model. Formulating a measuring tool to assess the success of implementing prophetic leadership in the public bureaucracy is also important.

Abstract

This article examines the complex relationship between da'wah and politics in Madura, especially in the context of the politicized phenomenon of da'wah. The main focus is on discourse analysis of the RadarMadura.id news regarding the controversy over Gus Miftah distributing money in Pamekasan: how the media constructs the story through word choice and grammar to build a narrative related to this issue. This research is a qualitative study that uses discourse analysis as part of the interpretive method. The object of this research is news on RadarMadura.id with the title "Bawaslu Pamekasan Akan Panggil Gus Miftah terkait Aksi Bagi-Bagi Uang" published on January 5, 2024. The news was analysed using the discourse analysis model of Roger Fowler et al which focuses on the analysis of word elements and grammar. The research results show that news reports depict this action as part of the alms routine. The media limits its views by focusing on responding to viral videos and relying on secondary sources to confirm information, rather than conducting in-depth investigations. There is also a discourse battle between the public who supports the idea of money politics and the media which highlights clarification and alms routines. Linguistically, RadarMadura.id uses active sentences to describe events, however, the use of nominalization may influence the interpretation of the actors involved. That is, this analysis shows how the media uses language to build narratives and influence public perceptions, even though they tend to be neutral in their presentation of controversial issues.

Abstract

Abstract

Prophetic communication in the Qur’an serves as the ideal model for Islamic da‘wah, yet comprehensive insight into the interaction patterns of Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad (peace be upon them) remains limited. This study examines these patterns through Tafsir al-Mishbah by M. Quraish Shihab and Tafsir al-Munir by Wahbah al-Zuhaylī. A descriptive-analytical library study with a comparative approach; primary data were drawn from the two tafsirs and secondary data from related literature. Thematic analysis extracted verbal, non-verbal, and contextual communication features from relevant Qur’anic verses. All prophets display uniform noble traits—patience, wisdom, empathy, and audience adaptation. Noah exemplifies persistent preaching; Abraham employs rational and symbolic argument; Moses uses gentle speech against Pharaoh; Jesus combines miracles with wise discourse; Muhammad applies consultation and gentle words. Their roles encompass bearer of glad tidings (basyir), warner (nadzīr), explainer (mubayyin), and illuminating lamp (sirāj munīr). The prophetic model is ethically grounded and context-sensitive, offering a viable framework for contemporary da‘wah. The findings recommend integrating these insights into Islamic education and digital preaching to cultivate effective, ethical Muslim communicators.

Abstract

This study examines digital da'wah and persuasive ethics through the synthesis of da'wah methods and pillars in Tafsir Al-Misbah (M. Quraish Shihab) and Al-Azhar (Buya Hamka) in the modern era. The main issue is the lack of ethics and morality in digital da'wah, such as hate speech and racist behavior on Indonesian social media with 212 million users. The objectives are to analyze da'wah methods (hikmah, mauidzah hasanah, mujadalah hasanah), pillars (da'i, mad'u, maddah), and persuasive ethics based on Quranic verses like QS. An-Nahl:125, Ali Imran:104, and Fussilat:33 for contemporary solutions. Qualitative method using library research and thematic maudhu'i tafsir approach with primary data from both tafsirs and secondary literature. Results indicate the Quran provides effective da'wah guidelines: good exemplars, gentle delivery without coercion, and optimal debate to avoid digital conflicts. This synthesis addresses gaps in prior research lacking focus on persuasive ethics

Abstract

Background: The Qur’an is not only the word of God but also a divine communication book that conveys messages systematically and ethically. This study examines the names of the Qur’an—Al-Qur’an, Al-Kitab, Al-Furqan, Adz-Dzikr, and At-Tanzil—within Tafsir Al-Mishbah by M. Quraish Shihab to understand the communicative function of revelation in human life.Method: Qualitative research using a descriptive-analytical approach through library study. Primary data were taken from Tafsir Al-Mishbah, while secondary data came from related literature. Analytical techniques were used to identify the meaning and communicative function of each name of the Qur’an.Results: Each name of the Qur’an reflects a unique communicative function: Al-Qur’an as a guiding recitation, Al-Kitab as a preserved written document, Al-Furqan as a distinguisher between truth and falsehood, Adz-Dzikr as a moral reminder, and At-Tanzil as an authentically revealed scripture. Quraish Shihab emphasizes that the Qur’an acts as a complete communication medium involving the communicator (God), the message (revelation), and the audience (humans). Conclusion: Through its names, the Qur’an functions as a communication book that not only conveys information but also shapes human awareness, morality, and actions according to cultural and social contexts. Tafsir Al-Mishbah shows that the Qur’an is a lamp that illuminates human life through persuasive and transformative communication.
