Abstract

Badminton is a sport that is very popular with Indonesian people. With so many people playing badminton, badminton has become one of the favorite sports of Indonesian people. Refereeing as part of badminton coaching is very important. When the referee enforces the rules of the game, the referee's role becomes the determining factor. A professional referee can be neutral and enforce the applicable rules of the game. Apart from that, there are also other criteria that are also needed so that a badminton referee must be physically and mentally healthy. The mechanism for implementing activities in general is in the form of planning/preparation, implementation, observation and evaluation, and reflection. This activity took place on 25 July – 26 July 2024, a theoretical presentation in the Hero University hall and continued on 27 July – 28 July 2024, a referee practice exam at the Muara Uwai Bangkinang Seberang Badminton Gym. It is hoped that this activity can produce competent and professional badminton referees in Riau Province.

Abstract

Abstract

This study investigated the impact of modified sickle kick training on the performance of pencak silat athletes. The sickle kick, an important technique in pencak silat, requires an optimal blend of speed, precision, and power. This study proposed exercise modifications involving variations in intensity, frequency, and complexity of movements, hypothesising that these changes would increase the effectiveness of the exercises. Using a pre-test and post-test experimental design, the study involved 40 pencak silat athletes (20 male, 20 female, ages 18-25) who were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. The experimental group participated in a modified training regimen for 8 weeks, while the control group engaged in conventional training. Measurements assessed included kick execution speed, accuracy, and strength. The analysis results revealed significant improvements in the experimental group relative to the control group. Kick execution speed improved by 15% (p < 0.01), target accuracy by 25% (p < 0.001), and kick strength by 20% (p < 0.001) in the experimental group. In contrast, the control group showed only small improvements in all measures (5-8%, P > 0.05 for speed, p < 0.05 for accuracy and strength). These results suggest that modifying the sickle kick exercise is an effective strategy to improve the performance of pencak silat athletes. The implications of this study may revolutionise pencak silat training methodology and inspire similar adaptations in other martial arts disciplines.

Abstract

This study investigated the impact of structured skipping training on long jump performance in high school students. Sixty students (ages 15—17, balanced by gender) were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. The experimental group engaged in an 8-week skipping program, while the control group maintained their usual activities. Long jump performance was assessed pre- and post-intervention using standardized IAAF tests. Data analysis indicated a significant enhancement in the experimental group's long jump skills compared to controls (p<0.001, partial η²=0.425). The experimental group exhibited a mean jump distance increase of 0.37 m (8.7%), whereas the control group showed a mere 0.04 m (0.9%) increase. These findings suggest that skipping exercises effectively enhance long jump skills in high school students, with implications for physical education and athletic training curricula.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of concentration on shooting accuracy in futsal. It primarily seeks to establish the connection between concentration and shooting accuracy, while also examining the influences of anxiety and experience. Employing a quantitative correlational design, the research involved a sample of 30 male high school futsal players aged 15-18 years with varying experience. Concentration was assessed via the Grid Concentration Exercise Test (GCET), and shooting accuracy was evaluated through the Shooting Accuracy Test (SAT) across three sessions. The findings indicated a strong positive correlation between concentration and shooting accuracy (β=0.65, p<0.001). Path analysis confirmed anxiety's significant mediating role (indirect effect=0.15, p=0.002), with heightened concentration levels mitigating anxiety (β=-0.42) and enhancing shooting precision. Furthermore, playing experience moderated the concentration-accuracy linkage, revealing a stronger correlation in experienced players (r=0.81) compared to novices (r=0.54). These results underscore the necessity for futsal training programs that incorporate concentration and anxiety management strategies tailored to players' experience levels.
