So that, teacher as a motivator has a power to influence the students to take action for achieving their excellent learning, using what Anthony Robbins suggest on his book; Unlimited Power. The writer formulated the aims of this study as follow; (1) to identify the motivational lexicons in Unlimited Power from the psychological perspective, and (2) to describe how motivational lexicons in Unlimited Power take apart in the pedagogical field. This research used qualitative research to find out the data. The data analysis technique that researcher used is content analysis since they were texts in Unlimited Power. Researcher found three motivational lexicons used by Anthony Robbins in his book Unlimited Power; think, challenge, and remember. Think used as a tool to lead his readers to come to their memory, re-identify some main points, and consider about the certain thing. Challenge used to pump readers’ emotion, gave a test, and invited them to take action. Remember used as a tool to bring back a piece of information he provided before and try to keep it in readers’ mind. Anthony’s motivational lexicons in Unlimited Power also can use in the pedagogical field. Teacher can use them in the teaching-learning process as it determines the effectiveness of rewards for what students do and apparently influential factor for learning process

Abstract

Translating cultural pieces is always challenging since it usually involves a task of presenting something unknown to the target readers. This case is seen in the translation of Ronggeng Dhukuh Paruk novel which has been translated in many languages, one of them is English. It is full of Javanese cultural pieces but it was written in Bahasa Indonesia. Later, it was translated (or rewrite) into Javanese—like coming back to its own language habitat. The objective of the paper is to identify the strategies applied to translate the cultural meaning. The data sources are the three-language versions of the novel, in Indonesia, Javanese and English. The analysis on the data revealed that there are many various cultural meanings in the text: ecological facts, social and cultural concept, the cultural products in things, religion, and linguistic features of the culture. The strategies used to translate the cultural meaning are descriptive (badhongan – leave garland), calque (bukak klambu), borrowing (dadap, seling, kathik), and borrowing with description (kamitua-respected leader). The procedure taken in translating cultural pieces considers some factor: the importance of the meaning for the narration, its foreign level, the importance of its exotics sense in the literary work, and the interest to present local nuances to the target readers

Abstract

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into teacher education is rapidly transforming reflective practice by offering scalable, personalized tools to support professional learning. Reflective journaling, a core activity in teacher preparation, can be enhanced through AI-driven platforms that provide real-time feedback, adaptive prompts, and metacognitive scaffolding. This study examined the impact of AI-powered reflective journals on reflective thinking, instructional self-efficacy, and pedagogical adaptability among pre-service teachers. A sequential explanatory mixed-methods design was employed with 80 male Iranian pre-service teachers, randomly assigned to an experimental group (n = 40) and a control group (n = 40). Over a 10-week intervention, the experimental group engaged in structured AI-supported journaling, while the control group maintained traditional, unstructured pen-and-paper journals. Pre- and post-test data were collected using validated instruments measuring the three targeted constructs. Independent samples t-tests confirmed group equivalency at baseline. ANCOVA results revealed statistically significant post-intervention improvements in the experimental group for reflective thinking (F = 10.49, p < .001, η² = .12), instructional self-efficacy (F = 14.38, p < .001, η² = .16), and pedagogical adaptability. Thematic analysis of semi-structured interviews supported the quantitative findings, with participants reporting that AI-generated feedback facilitated deeper self-reflection, strengthened instructional confidence, and fostered adaptability to diverse learner needs. These findings highlight the potential of AI-mediated reflective tools to enhance core professional competencies in teacher education.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of mindfulness-based activities in English language teaching (ELT) at an Islamic senior high school in Indonesia. It aims to investigate how such activities influence students’ language anxiety, classroom participation, and overall engagement. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through classroom observations, teacher and student interviews, and reflective journals. The findings reveal that mindfulness practices—including guided breathing, reflective journaling, and mindful listening—significantly reduced students’ foreign language anxiety, improved emotional regulation, and fostered greater willingness to communicate. Observations also indicated increased voluntary participation and more supportive peer interactions, particularly through mindful listening, which promoted empathy and reduced fear of judgment. Moreover, the cultural and spiritual alignment of mindfulness with Islamic values such as muhasabah (self-reflection), sabr (patience), and ikhlas (sincerity) enhanced students’ receptivity and deepened engagement. These results suggest that mindfulness not only supports linguistic development but also nurtures resilience, peer empathy, and holistic well-being when contextualized in Islamic educational settings. The study contributes to the growing body of research on affective factors in ELT and provides practical implications for integrating mindfulness into culturally relevant pedagogy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the ideology embedded in the Minister of Religion’s speech as presented on social media platforms, particularly TikTok and YouTube, through the framework of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). The research employs the models of CDA Teun van Dijk to examine three interrelated dimensions: textual, social cognition, and contextual. Data were collected from selected videos and transcripts of the Minister’s speeches that discuss moral, social, and religious issues. The analysis reveals that the Minister’s language reflects an ideology of moderation, unity, and moral awareness within the context of Indonesia’s multicultural society. At the textual level, the speeches use persuasive, inclusive, and moral expressions that emphasize the importance of tolerance and spirituality. The social cognition analysis indicates that the Minister’s beliefs and values are strongly influenced by Islamic moderation (wasathiyah) and national harmony. Meanwhile, the contextual analysis shows that the discourse serves as a medium to shape public ideology, promoting religion as a constructive and modern force within social life. Overall, the findings demonstrate that social media has become a strategic platform for the dissemination of religious ideology, where language functions as a tool for shaping public perception, moral identity, and social cohesion

Abstract

This study investigates the social-emotional competencies (SEC) of Saudi female students learning English as a Foreign Language (EFL), an underexplored dimension in higher education. Using the Social-Emotional Foreign Language Learning Scale (SEFLLS), data were collected from 63 students enrolled in a compulsory English course at a university in Jeddah. Findings revealed generally high SEC, with social relations strongest and self-regulation weakest. Open-ended responses complemented quantitative results. The study highlights the need to integrate social-emotional learning (SEL) into EFL instruction to enhance well-being and performance, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030’s goals for developing globally competent learners.
