Abstract

The coast of Jadimulya Village is used by the community for fish and shrimp ponds which results in abrasion due to the absence of a mangrove ecosystem to buffer abrasion. This research was conducted to determine the condition of the mangroves in Jadimulya Village over the last 5 years using remote sensing and a Geographic Information System (GIS) with the maximum likelihood classification method, so that information is obtained that can be used as reference material for research related to the field of mapping, conservation, and development of mangrove ecosystems in Jadimulya Village. The data processed for mapping in this research used Landsat 8 OLI imagery for the last five years (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022). The research results show that the area of mangroves in Jadimulya Village in 2018 was 2.85 ha, in 2019 it was 4.45 ha, in 2020 it will be 4.17 ha, in 2021 it will be 4.42 ha, and in 2022 it will be 5.3 ha. The Producer Accuracy (PA) and User Accuracy (UA) values for mangrove classification are 83%, and the overall accuracy or Overall Accuracy (OA) for image classification is 85% with a kappa coefficient of 0.81.

Abstract

One of the problems at Senior High School 4 Bombana is that student learning outcomes do not reach the minimum completeness criteria. The use of conventional methods and media makes students passive, besides that learning is only teacher-centered. The aims of this research are: 1) to describe an overview of students' Geography learning activities; 2) to describe the description of the teacher's teaching activities; and 3) to describe an overview of the improvement in learning outcomes of class XI IPS 1 students at Senior High School 4 Bombana who were taught using the Problem-Based Learning model on Natural Disaster Mitigation material. This type of research is Classroom Action Research with research subjects consisting of teachers and students of class XI IPS 1. Based on data analysis, the conclusions obtained are: 1) student learning activity in cycle I was 2.4 and cycle II increased to 3.6;2) teacher teaching activity in cycle I was 2.9, increasing to 3.7; and 3) student learning outcomes in cycle I were 65% (17/26 students completed) in cycle II increased to 92% (24/26 students completed).

Abstract

The mangrove forest habitat in Tangofa Village is indicated to have been degraded due to land conversion and pollution. This research aims to determine the level of damage to the mangrove forest ecosystem based on vegetation cover and vegetation density and to determine the factors that influence damage to the mangrove forest ecosystem in Tangofa Village. Data collection was carried out using survey methods and direct interviews. Based on the results of the analysis of relative cover and species density obtained from the results of the analysis, it ranges from 23%-43%, where based on the 2004 ministerial decision, the level of damage to the mangrove ecosystem for each mangrove species is <50% in the rare/damaged category. The total density at the seedling-tree level is 350-600 trees/ha, the standard criteria for the level of damage to the mangrove forest ecosystem is a tree density of <1000 trees/ha with rare/damaged conditions. Factors causing damage to the mangrove forest ecosystem in Tangofa Village are a lack of knowledge about mangroves, nickel mining activities, waste disposal, development of residential land, and felling of mangrove trees.

Abstract

Kendari City as a center for industrial, trade, and service activities as well as a provider of urban facilities has become an attraction for residents to move and live, thus having an impact on increasing land transformation. This research aims to assess the capability of remote sensing satellite imagery, especially Landsat 8 Oli Imagery for multi-temporal monitoring of Kendari city land transformation in 2010-2021. The research method used is survey research with the Urban Index (UI). The research results show that the multi-temporal land transformation of the city of Kendari in 2010-2021 using a spectral approach on Citra Landsat shows that the city of Kendari is experiencing an increase in the amount of undeveloped land and conversely, there is a decrease in the amount of undeveloped land. The total area of built-up land in 2010 and 2021 is 6,670 ha and 11,182 ha, respectively. The interpretation results have an accuracy of 85% with a kappa value of 69% (strong). Thus, the results of the interpretation have a strong relationship with the results of checking in the field

Abstract

This research uses a spatial modeling approach to map tsunami inundation scenarios in Majene Regency, West Sulawesi Province utilizing topographic data, bathymetry, and other related information. This research aims to design a model that can visualize potential inundation and affected areas along the coastline of Majene Regency with 6 meter, 10 meter, and 30 meter inundation scenarios. This modeling analysis provides an in-depth picture of the potential impact of the tsunami disaster, especially on all sub-districts in Majene Regency. The modeling results are made into three classifications: high, medium, and low. The modeling results show that the sub-districts have a hazard index and tsunami inundation area in the high category for the 6, 10, and 30-meter scenarios Malunda and Sendana sub-districts. The sub-districts that have a hazard index and tsunami inundation area in the medium variety for the 6, 10, and 30 meter scenarios are Banggae, East Banggae, Pamboang, Tammerodo Sendana, and Tubo Sendana sub-districts. The sub-district that has a hazard index and tsunami inundation area in the low category for the 6, 10, and 30-meter scenarios is Ulumanda Subdistrict.

Abstract

Variations in coastal and small island ecosystems cannot be separated from the condition of sea waters and the influence of activities occurring on land. Continuous processes that occur in the sea and on the land will, of course, influence genetic processes and the materials that make up them, so that coastal and small island ecosystems provide special characteristics and unique internal problems. This research aims to identify coastal ecosystems and small islands in West Muna Regency using aerial photography based on the forming parameters that influence the constituent ecosystems. The method used to identify coastal ecosystems and small islands is through an aerial photo interpretation and field survey approach. The research results show that the condition of the coastal ecosystem and small islands of West Muna Regency is influenced by activities that occur on land and at sea which interact and interact with each other, thus influencing the environmental dynamics of the coastal ecosystem. Therefore, the management of coastal and small island ecosystems in West Muna Regency requires an integrated and comprehensive approach so that coastal and small island ecosystems can be sustainable.

Abstract

Schools and their educational facilities must be prepared to be safe from disasters and not a place that can endanger the lives of students, teachers and education personnel and other school residents. This research aims to find out the strategic steps in overcoming disaster problems through the education curriculum. This type of research is qualitative research with literature study through reviewing related literature. Then, the analysis of several journals and books related to the discussion material will be described descriptively. The results found that disaster education programs are needed to be able to reduce the risk of natural disasters that may occur at any time. Disaster education is an awareness-building process that starts from building knowledge, understanding and actions that encourage preparedness, prevention and recovery.
