Abstract

Spatial intelligence is a person's ability to describe a phenomenon in terms of spatial concepts. In learning geography, spatial intelligence is needed to make it easier for students to visualize every phenomenon. However, the level of spatial intelligence of each individual is different, so it needs to be supported with the right media in learning. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of Geographic Information System-based media in improving spatial intelligence. The method used is quantitative with a t-test and N-Gain test. The results obtained t value (56) = 2.982, p = 0.004, the significance value of 0.004 <0.05, and t count (2.982) > t table (2.048) means that there is a significant difference between the control class and the experimental class. The control class N-Gain test obtained a value of 0.15 (low category) while the experimental class was 0.34 (medium category), meaning that the experimental class was more effective than the control class. Based on these results, using the right media can improve students' spatial intelligence in learning.

Abstract

Final disposal site (landfill) is a physical means of ending the process of waste. The process of storing and destroying at a landfill site has positive and negative impacts. This research aims to determine the impact of the existence of a landfill on the physical and social environmental conditions of the community around KB Village, Puuwatu Village, Puuwatu District. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive research. The results of this research show: 1) there is an influence of the presence of a landfill on physical environmental conditions on air pollution parameters in the form of the smell of rubbish and dust from rubbish trucks; and 2) there is an influence of the existence of the TPA on the social environmental conditions of the KB village community on communication activities and social interactions of the community.

Abstract

Before the Rainbow Bridge construction project, people were free to carry out activities to build embedded houses in residential locations. However, after the regional government program came into existence, community settlements began to be evicted and began to limit the expansion of residential locations, giving rise to pros and cons for the community on an ongoing basis. This research aims to determine the impact of the construction of the Rainbow Bridge on community settlements and determine the economic conditions of the community with the construction of the Rainbow Bridge. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive research. The results of this research show that the rainbow bridge can encourage the socio-economic conditions of the community in a positive direction and indirectly improve economic conditions. The negative impacts caused have an impact on settlements as a place to live, limit community movement, and create opportunities for the people of Mola Nelayan Bakti Village to migrate to other areas.

Abstract

The development of tourism potential often arises problems such as the lack of precise strategies used in its development. Therefore researchers aim to know: 1) internal factors in efforts to develop potential; 2) external factors in efforts to develop potential; and 3) an efficient strategy for the potential development of Puncak Wakila as a natural tourist attraction in Kondongia Village, Lohia District, Muna Regency. This type of research uses qualitative research using descriptive methods. Data analysis techniques used to find internal and external factors based on development theory, and IFAS-EFAS analysis. SWOT matrix are used to formulate a suitable strategy for the development of Puncak Wakila potential. The results of this study that suitable strategies used in the development of the potential of Puncak Wakila are: 1) policy strategy, namely policy making related to the development of tourism potential; 2) facility strategies related to the provision of adequate facilities; and 3) promotion strategies are related to tourism marketing.

Abstract

Online learning during the pandemic and after the Covid-19 pandemic, has a level of difficulty in learning Geography. This research aims to determine the level of student learning difficulties in learning Geography during the pandemic and after the Covid-19 pandemic. This research uses quantitative research and descriptive statistical analysis. The research results show that students experience learning difficulties that are influenced by internal and external factors. Internal factors include interest factors: students are less interested in participating in learning, and less active; Motivational factors: students lack motivation, perseverance, and learning knowledge. Meanwhile, in the post-pandemic period, it includes interest factors with no different causes; Motivational factors: students have the desire to learn, and students enjoy learning. External factors come from family factors; parents pay less attention to children's learning and provide support, for economic reasons; school factors: the relationship between students and teachers is not good, and learning methods are not good. Meanwhile, the post-pandemic period consisted of family factors: uncomfortable home atmosphere, economic reasons, and lack of support from parents; school factors: uncomfortable classroom atmosphere, and lack of facilities and infrastructure.

Abstract

Kendari City is the capital of Southeast Sulawesi province which is the center of industrial, trade, and service activities for its people. This is an attraction for immigrants from outside the area to come to live or look for work. The development of cities invites migration flows from villages to cities, population mobility and the attraction of city income result in village residents coming to cities which is caused by poverty, giving rise to homeless people and beggars in urban areas. This research aims to analyze the spatial distribution of homeless and beggars in the Kendari Bay area and create a route map for homeless and beggars in the Kendari Bay area. The research method used is survey research with a spatial approach using a geographic information system application. Based on the research results, it was found that the distribution of homeless and beggar locations was spread across several points, namely tourist areas, places of worship, and elite residential areas. Meanwhile, the movement route for homeless beggars in the city of Kendari is in the Citra Land road area towards the Al-Alam mosque, the Kendari Beach Route, the Kendari Bay Platform, and the Bahteramas Bridge.

Abstract

Kalumata is one of the sub-districts in the City of Ternate which is also the place where excavation C mining activities take place with the type of mining of minerals in the form of volcanic sand when referring to the geological formations from the geological map. Activity results in changes not only in land conversion but also in the condition of the physical properties of the soil. This study aims to determine the morphology and physical properties of the soil in post-mining excavation C in the Kalumata Village. The results of the research on the morphological characteristics of the three soil profiles in the post-mining area C have uniqueness and similarities. While the physical characteristics of the soil on the three soil profiles in the post-mining area C showed that the soil texture was dominated by the dust fraction, the bulk density tended to be low, the particle density was below the average for mineral soil particle density, high dominant porosity, and the lowest soil water content in the profile. III and the highest in profile I, as well as the fractionation of sand grains in each soil layer from profiles I II, and III, the proportion of sand is almost 100% dominating.
