Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya hubungan antara gaya kepemimpinan, tingkat hierarki moral, dan motivasi terhadap komitmen guru. Sampel diambil dengan teknik proportional sampling dengan jumlah sebesar 450 orang guru dari populasi 796 guru SMA PNS di Samarinda. Data dikumpulkan dengan pemberian angket dan analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis jalur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) gaya kepemimpinan berpengaruh terhadap komitmen guru yang berarti peningkatan gaya kepemimpinan akan meningkatkan komitmen guru; (2) tingkat hierarki moral memiliki pengaruh pada komitmen guru yang berarti meningkatnya tingkat hierarki moral akan mengakibatkan peningkatan komitmen guru; (3) motivasi kerja guru memengaruhi komitmen guru yang berarti tingginya motivasi kerja akan menyebabkan tingginya komitmen; (4) gaya kepemimpinan berpengaruh terhadap motivasi kerja guru yang berarti peningkatan gaya kepemimpinan akan meningkatkan motivasi kerja guru; dan (5) tingkat hierarki moral memengaruhi motivasi kerja guru yang berarti meningkatnya tingkat hierarki moral akan meningkatkan motivasi kerja guru. Peningkatan aspek-aspek tersebut akan memperkuat komitmen para guru terhadap sekolah. Kata Kunci: komitmen, gaya kepemimpinan, tingkat hierarki moral, motivasi THE INFLUENCE OF THE LEADERSHIP STYLES, MORAL HIERARCHY LEVELS, AND MOTIVATION TOWARDS TEACHER’S COMMITMENT Abstract: This study was aimed to find out the influence of the leadership styles, moral hierarchy levels, and motivation towards teachers’ commitment. The sample taken using the proportional sampling technique consisting of 450 teachers out of 796 senior high school teachers in Samarinda. The data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using the path analysis. The findings showed that (1) the leadership styles influence the teachers’ commitment, meaning that an improvement in the leadership styles would improve the teachers’ commitment; (2) the moral hierarchy levels influence the teachers’ commitment, meaning that an improvement in the moral hierarchy levels would improve the teachers’ commitment; (3) the motivation influence the teachers’ commitment, meaning that the higher the motivation is, the higher the teachers’ commitment is; (4) the leadership styles influence the teachers’ motivation, meaning that an improvement in the leadership styles would improve the teachers’ motivation; and (5) the moral hierarchy levels influence the teachers’ motivation, meaning that an improvement in the moral hierarchy levels would improve the teachers’ motivation. Abstract

Ilmu kimia berkaitan dengan hitungan-hitungan yang perlu diselesaikan secara matematik yang meliputi penjumlahan, pengurangan, perkalian, pembagian, akar, logaritma, diferensial, inteftal, persamaan, grafik, deret, dan sebagainya. Mengingat luasnya peranan matematika dalam illmu kimia, maka pada kesempatan ini hanya kaan dibicarakan beberapa unsur matematika yang seringkali dijumpai dalam ilmu kimia.

Abstract

Counseling competence is a set of essential abilities which is prominent to be employed in conducting counseling. This counseling competence research took students of counseling as a counselor candidate. This study aims to analyze the correlation between basic knowledge, basic communication skill, and cultural skill to the counseling competence. This work used Ex Post Facto Causal Relationship Explanatory research design. The research subjects were 120 students of Department of Guidance and Counseling from three State Universities in Java Island. Samples were taken by using cluster random sampling technique. The data analysis was conducted through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique. The research results show that there is a significant relationship between knowledge, basic attitude, basic communication skill and cultural skill to the counseling competence. The implication of this research finding to the education of the Department of Guidance and Counseling is the significance of considering the factors forming the academic counseling competence to produce the professional counselor candidate.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan ada tidaknya pengaruh kepemimpinan transformasional kepala sekolah, moral kerja guru, dan kepuasan kerja guru terhadap kinerja guru. Populasi penelitian meliputi 81orang guru sekolah dasar negeri di Kota Merauke. Tabel Krecjie digunakan sebagai pedoman untuk memilih sampel, yakni 69 orang guru, atau 85,19% populasi. Data penelitian yang terkait dengan variabel kepemimpinan transformasional kepala sekolah, moral kerja guru, kepuasan kerja guru, dan kinerja guru dijaring dengan menggunakan instrumen yang berupa kuesioner. Selajutnya, data dianalisis menggunakan path analysis dengan bantuan program komputer SPSS for Windows Release 15. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan manajerial kepala sekolah, moral kerja guru, dan kepuasan kerja guru berpengaruh secara positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja guru. Abstract

Abstract: Developing a Video-Based Coaching Program Package to Improve Science Teachers’ Teaching Competencies. A number of programs have been launched by the government to improve teachers’ teaching competencies. It seems, however, there is no significant improvement in the practice. This paper presents results of a three-year research project employing the Research and Development (R D) design. In the first year, a needs assessment was conducted to identify teachers’ needs for their professional development. Based on the results of the first year, a video-based coaching package was developed in the second year. In the final year, an experimental study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of the coaching package. The study reveals that through the coaching package there is improvement in teachers’ ability to reflect on their own practice as well as their teaching competencies. Abstract

Abstract:The objective of the research is to identify the causes of secondary school students’ failure to acquire English effectively. This qualitative research involves a number of students, teachers from lower and upper secondary schools, lecturers and English department students. Findings of this research reveal issues such as English teacher quality, English study program graduates quality, lack of English learning hours at school, the absence of extra-curricular activities for English exposure and English speaking environment, English national exam, the underuse and inexistence of facilities and ineffective monitoring system as the major contributors of students’ English learning ineffectiveness. This study, therefore, recommends the relevant ministries to cope with these issues urgently or else this unfavorable situation will remain unchanged in future years. Keywords: English, teaching, learning, quality, policy, change PERUBAHAN KEBIJAKAN TERHADAP PENDEKATAN PENGAJARAN BAHASA INGGRIS DI SEKOLAH MENENGAH DI INDONESIA Abstrak: Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi hal-hal yang menyebabkan gagalnya siswa SMP dan SMA menguasai bahasa Inggris. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan melibatkan sejumlah siswa, guru bahasa Inggris SMP dan SMA, dosen, dan mahasiswa pada program pendidikan Bahasa Inggris. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan isu-isu meliputi kualitas guru bahasa Inggris, kualitas mahasiswa pada program studi bahasa Inggris, kurangnya jam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di sekolah, ketiadaan kegiatan ekstrakurikuler bahasa Inggris dan lingkungan berbahasa Inggris di sekolah, keberadaan ujian nasional, minimnya penggunaan fasilitas serta ketiadaan fasilitas tersebut, dan tidak efektifnya sistem monitoring merupakan hal-hal yang paling berkontribusi terhadap ketidakefektifan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di sekolah. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan kepada kementerian terkait untuk dapat mengatasi persoalan tersebut sesegera mungkin atau jika tidak, kondisi yang kurang menguntungkan ini akan tetap terus bertahan di masa yang akan datang. Abstract

Proses pernbelajaran anak usia awal sebaiknya terintegrasi, yaitutidak mernandang bidang studi secara terpisah, tetapi saling terikat satusarnalain. Anak dipandang sebagai orang yang baru pertarna rnelihatdunia. Bagi rnereka tidak ada keterpisahan antar IPA, IPS, rnaternatika,bahasa, dan lain-lain. Anak belajar sernua itu pada saat yang sarna darihasil interaksinya dengan lingkungan. Oleh karena itu pendekatanpernbelajaran terintegrasi lebih terasa pas digunakan untuk pernbelajarananak usia awal.Ide inilah yang barangkali rnengilharni penyusunan kurikulurn SDunluk tidak rnernasukkan rnata pelajaran IPA secara eksplisit kedalarnkurikulurn SD 1994 untuk kelas satu sarnpai dengan kelas tiga. Ketidaktercanturnan IPA tersebut hendaknya tidak diartikan bahwa rnata pelajaranIPA dihapus, tetapi IPA diintegrasikan kedalarn rnata pelajaran lainseperti agarna, bahasa Indonesia, rnaternatika, dan lain-lain. Konsentrasinya,guru harus marnpu rneng-integrasikan IPA kedalarn rnatapclajaranlain, kalau tidak il1gin IPA benar-benar terhapus.Salah satu cara untuk rnernungkinkan teIjadinya pernbelajaran IPAterintegrasi ialah rnelalui Ternatik Unit. TU rnerupakan serangkaianterna-tcma tersebut digunakan sebagai topik-topik dalam proses pembelajaran.Oleh karena sernua tema berasal dari satu terna pokok, makaproses pernbelajaran terasa lebih padu. Dengan pengambilan terna pokokyang rnenarik yang sedang teIjadi dan menyentuh kehidupan anak, rnakaproses pembelajaran rnenjadi lebih bermakna dan lebih rnudah dipahamioleh anak.

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to reveal : (1) the teaching competencies level of High School Economics teachers in Purworejo regency, (2) the contributionof the educational background, the teaching experience and the working spirit toward the teaching competencies of High School Economic teachers in Purworejo regency.This research was an ex-post facto study which the subjects of all High School Economic teachers at Purworejo regency. The sample of this research was 40 teachers, which determined based on Krejcie formula, and the proportional random sampling technique. The data collecting instrument was a Likert scale question, each of which had been tested by factor analysis, Alpha Cronbach and split-half Spearman-Brown technique for fulfilled the requirements of validity and reability. The data analysis used a descriptive and inferential analysis.The result of the descriptive analysis showes that the teaching competenciesof High School Economic teachers in Purworejo regency are 17,5% in high category; 65,0% in sufficient category; 17,5% in poor category. The result of the partial correlation analysis shows : (1) the educational background is not provides a significant contribution to the teaching competencies of High School Economic teachers in Purworejo regency, (2) the teaching experience provides a positive and significant contribution i.e 17,58% to the teaching competencies of High School Economic teachers in Purworejo regency, (3) the working spirit providesa positive and significant contribution i.e 26,2% to the teaching competencies of High School Economic teachers in Purworejo regency. The result of multiple regression analysis indicates that there are a positive and significant contribution of the teaching experience and the working spirit i.e 41,6% simultanneously to the teaching competenciesof High School Economic teachers in Purworejo regency. Thus, it can be concluded that in general the teaching competencies of High School Social Studies teachers in Purworejo regency is in sufficient category. There is a significant contribution of the teaching experience and the working spirit both individually and simultaneously toward the teaching competencies of High School Economic teachers in Purworejoregency.Key words: teaching competencies, educational background, teaching experience, working spirit

Abstract

 The political condition in Indonesia is poor at prescnt.This condition is caused by a lot of factors. The nlaill factor causing it is the existing poitical structure, which is clot functional. Another factor is the inappropriate practice of political education for society iin general and students inparticular. This present inappropriate political education iisfocussed on how to obtain power and how to guarantee nationalstability, so Ihat it does not reach the most fundamentaldimension of human life, namely, human rights. Therefore, it isabout time that the orientation of political education beextended.The political education should not be simply oriented ropolitical socialization of human rights. The reasons are that,firstly, political rights are just a small part of human rigl~ls,secondly, human rights are a dominant issue in the globali7ationera, and, thirdly, political education is essentially opening theconsciousness that the political field is not a means of actualizingpower values but rather a means of actualizing the noble valuesof humanism.One part of society to be the target of political educatio~~is college students, to whom the political education oriented tohuman rights can be performed through formal or nonformaleducation. In the college, political education is curricularlyintegrated in the general subject classes. In the course of theconversion of IKIP into a university, the MKU (short for MataKuliah Umum, meaning general subject classes) can be thestepping stones to initiate the implementation of politicalcducation oriented to human rights. There should be ways tointegrate the values of human rights into the general subjectclasses as a whole in order that these classes can equip studentsin becoming more mature and responsible in playing a part inthe political field so that it will finally help to bring the politicalcondition in Indonesia to becoming one more human.
