Abstract

Stunting remains a public health problem in Kabinuang Village, North Dampal District, influenced by weak coordination between village officials, suboptimal public administration management, and low community participation in health programs. These conditions have resulted in the suboptimal implementation of stunting prevention programs at the village level. This community service activity aims to assess and strengthen the role of village public administration in supporting the effectiveness of sustainable stunting prevention programs. The method used was participatory action research involving village officials, health cadres, and the community through training on administrative management and program planning, mentoring for the implementation of toddler nutrition programs, and participatory discussions with residents and relevant stakeholders. The results of the activity showed an increase in the understanding and capacity of village officials in administrative management and program planning, improved cross-sector coordination, and the formation of a more effective communication forum. Furthermore, community participation has increased, particularly in monitoring toddler nutritional status and supporting stunting prevention programs. The conclusion of this activity indicates that strengthening village public administration through a participatory approach can increase the effectiveness and sustainability of stunting prevention programs at the village level.

Abstract

The community service program in Lais Village, Dondo District, Tolitoli Regency was carried out to enhance community skills in processing fish into value-added shredded fish (abon) products. The region has abundant fish resources, but utilization remains limited to selling fresh fish at low prices with a high risk of spoilage. The program applied methods such as socialization, technical training, and business management assistance. The results showed significant improvements in participants’ technical skills in fish processing, more hygienic packaging practices, and a better understanding of cost calculation and marketing strategies. The shredded fish produced had good taste, a shelf life of up to two months without preservatives, and strong potential for both traditional and digital marketing. The program provided positive socio-economic impacts by creating additional household income opportunities and fostering community self-reliance. With government policy support, abundant raw material availability, and increasing consumer demand for practical food, shredded fish products have strong potential to develop into sustainable and competitive small-scale businesses.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the world's largest coconut producers, with vast potential for both traditional and modern industrial uses. Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO), a coconut derivative with high economic value and health benefits, is known for its high lauric acid content, stability against thermal degradation and oxidation, clear color, distinctive coconut aroma, and relatively long shelf life. Furthermore, VCO offers various health benefits, including improving digestive function, lowering cholesterol levels, and increasing the body's resistance to disease. However, this potential has not been optimally utilized by rural communities, including those in Bambapula Village, North Dampal District, Tolitoli Regency, Central Sulawesi, where coconut raw materials are abundant but knowledge and skills in processing value-added products are limited. Therefore, this community service activity aims to improve community knowledge and skills in producing VCO in a simple, hygienic, and economically valuable way through training. The implementation method includes counseling on the potential and benefits of VCO, practical training in VCO production, and assistance in product packaging and storage. This three-day activity, held from August 13–15, 2025, took place at the Bambapula Village Office. The results showed an increase in participants' understanding and skills in the VCO production process, as well as growing community interest in developing coconut-based home businesses. This activity is expected to encourage increased added value for local commodities, support the economic independence of village communities, and contribute to the development of a local-based economy.

Abstract

Bunobogu Village is located in Buol Regency and represents a transitional area from rural to urban settings. This transformation is influenced by improved internet access and the introduction of external lifestyles and cultures brought by community members returning from migration. These changes make Bunobogu Village vulnerable to negative cultural influences, particularly drug abuse and promiscuous behavior. The majority of the population consists of young people, especially adolescents and young adults, who are the most vulnerable group to drug abuse and free association. Furthermore, most residents have a lower–middle economic status, which increases the risk of adolescents engaging in drug abuse and promiscuity as a means of coping with economic and social pressures. As a preventive effort, students participating in the Community Service Program (KKN) of Madako University conducted community service activities focused on the education sector, specifically at SMA Negeri 1 Bunobogu. The program was centered on socialization regarding drug abuse and the dangers of promiscuous behavior using an educational approach through material presentations, interactive discussions, and question-and-answer sessions. The results of this community service activity indicate an improvement in students’ understanding and awareness of the negative impacts of drug abuse and promiscuous behavior, as well as the importance of maintaining healthy and ethical conduct. This program is expected to serve as an initial step in fostering a knowledgeable, responsible, and resilient young generation capable of facing social challenges in the modern era.

Abstract

Tattiri Waterfall in Banagan Village, North Dampal District, is a natural destination with significant potential for development as a leading tourist attraction. However, limited facilities and infrastructure are a major obstacle to optimally utilizing this potential. This community service project aims to describe the efforts that have been and are being made to develop supporting infrastructure around the waterfall area, as well as to identify the obstacles encountered in this process. The method used is a qualitative approach, with data collection through interviews, field observations, and review of related documents. The results of the community service program show that there are initiatives from KKN students in the form of building signage and waste disposal areas. However, most of these facilities are still temporary and do not meet standards of comfort and safety for visitors. The main obstacles faced are limited budget and the lack of integrated planning based on local potential. Therefore, synergy is needed between the village government, the community, and other stakeholders in designing sustainable facilities and infrastructure development, so that the Tattiri Waterfall area can develop into a viable and competitive tourist destination.
