Abstract

Vocational High Schools (SMK) are formal education mandated by law to prepare human resources ready to enter the workforce and become productive workers. Career choice is a crucial process that reflects an individual's readiness to determine a future direction that aligns with their potential and life goals. Career interest is a person's desire to make choices in carrying out tasks within their field and responsibilities. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between career interest and career choice. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational approach, using a questionnaire as the data collection technique. Respondents were 10th-grade students. The methods used included instrument testing (Validity and Reliability), prerequisite testing (Normality and Linearity), and hypothesis testing (Product Moment Correlation, Chi-Square, and Determination). SPSS 20.0 software was used for analysis. The results of this study indicate that there is a positive and significant relationship between career interest and career choice of students at State Vocational High School 1 Padang Panjang, the alternative hypothesis (H₁) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H₀) is rejected. In addition, the regression results show that career interest contributes 16.9% to career choice. Overall, the analysis results show that career interest has a positive and insignificant relationship with career choice, which is included in the weak category.

Abstract

The Society 5.0 era brings significant changes to various aspects of life, including education, with demands for the younger generation to be career-ready and adaptive, innovative, and competitive. The main challenges faced by students include low digital literacy, weak non-technical skills, and the gap between education and the needs of the workplace. This study aims to analyze the strategies of Guidance and Counseling (BK) teachers in developing students' career readiness to face the challenges of Society 5.0. The research method used a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach by examining various scientific articles, academic books, and relevant research reports published between 2015 and 2023. The results of the study indicate that effective strategies of BK teachers include the use of digital technology in counseling services, strengthening soft skills, collaboration with parents and industry, and integrating career-based implementations. Obstacles found include limited facilities, teacher workload, and low digital-based counseling training. Therefore, increasing the professional capacity of BK teachers and supporting educational policies is essential. This study concludes that BK teachers play a role as agents of change in preparing students to be ready to face the challenges and take advantage of the opportunities of the Society 5.0 era.

Abstract

Self-regulated learning (SRL) is an important skill that students, especially Guidance and Counseling students, must possess because it relates to the ability to manage their learning process independently. However, in practice, students are still found to be unable to optimize this skill. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and self-regulated learning in Guidance and Counseling students of UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar, class of 2022. Self-efficacy in this study is examined through three aspects: level, generality, and strength, while self-regulated learning through aspects of metacognition, motivation, and behavior. The research method used is quantitative with a correlational type. The population in this study were Guidance and Counseling students of UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar, class of 2022, with total sampling. The research instrument was a Likert Scale compiled based on the indicators of the two variables. Data analysis was carried out using product-moment correlation through the SPSS version 21 program. The results showed that, in general, the level of self-ability and self-regulated learning of guidance and counseling students was in the high category. The correlation coefficient value obtained was r = 0.686 with a significance level of 0.000 (p < 0.05). This indicates a significant positive relationship between self-efficacy and self-regulated learning. Thus, the higher a student's self-efficacy, the higher their ability to manage the learning process independently. The findings of this study strengthen previous literature and contribute to the development of learning strategies and guidance services that emphasize increasing students' self-confidence and learning regulation skills.

Abstract

Group counseling is one of the core services in guidance and counseling designed to help individuals gain self-understanding, develop their potential, and cope with various personal, social, and academic challenges. One effective approach in conducting group counseling is the behavioral approach. This approach is grounded in the principle that human behavior is shaped through learning processes; therefore, maladaptive behaviors can be modified into more positive ones through practice and reinforcement. In its implementation, the behavioral approach employs several techniques such as reinforcement, modeling, role playing, behavior rehearsal, and systematic desensitization. Through group dynamics, individuals learn to imitate constructive behaviors, receive feedback from peers, and establish new habits that support psychological well-being. Thus, behavioral-based group counseling serves not only as a therapeutic medium but also as an effective social learning environment that fosters discipline, responsibility, and adaptive behavior among participants. Abstract

Divorce mediation in Religious Courts has thus far been more oriented towards formal legal settlements, even though domestic conflicts also touch on psychological and emotional aspects that require a family counseling approach. This article aims to analyze the potential for integrating Salvador Minuchin's family systems theory into the practice of divorce mediation in Religious Courts. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review of mediation regulations, religious court practices, and family systems theory. The analysis is conducted using Minuchin's theory, which emphasizes the balance of structure, subsystem boundaries, and communication patterns within the family. The results of the study show that Minuchin's theory is relevant to strengthening the effectiveness of mediation by shifting the orientation of resolution from legalistic to restorative aspects. Counseling techniques such as active listening, reframing, and empathy building can be integrated into the mediation process to help couples re-understand their roles and relationships. Thus, mediation in the Religious Court is not only a forum for resolving legal disputes but also a platform for reconstructing the family system towards harmony and family integrity.

Abstract

This study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the psychological condition of the community through a screening program conducted within a community-based service framework. The screening utilized eight instruments measuring psychological flexibility, academic hope, psychological well-being, DASS, test DAMAI, prosocial self-efficacy, multicultural competence, and career interest. A quantitative descriptive method was applied using percentage, frequency, and mean analyses to map respondents’ psychological characteristics. The findings indicate that career planning interest was the most frequently selected domain, reflecting an increasing awareness of the importance of direction and purpose in personal development. In contrast, low participation in prosocial self-efficacy and multicultural competence assessments highlights the need to strengthen social and cultural literacy to support holistic psychological well-being. The results confirm that community-based screening effectively facilitates early detection of psychological conditions while fostering collective awareness of mental health. This study contributes to the development of counseling programs, educator training, and community interventions that promote psychological literacy. Future studies are recommended to employ larger samples and longitudinal measurements to obtain more comprehensive and sustainable insights into community psychological dynamics

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development of research on art counseling in the 2020–2025 period based on data from the Scopus database. This study uses a bibliometric approach to map publication trends, source journals, country and institutional collaborations, and scientific fields that contribute to the development of art counseling. The analysis results show that there are 158 scientific articles that meet the criteria, with the document type being all journal articles. Publications on art counseling show a steady upward trend throughout the study period. The most productive journal is the Journal of Creativity in Mental Health, followed by AIDS and Behavior and AIDS Care: Psychological and Socio-Medical Aspects of AIDS/HIV. The country with the highest number of publications is the United States, followed by South Africa, the United Kingdom, China, and Canada. The majority of research is in psychology (46.9%), followed by medicine (31.8%) and social sciences (16.3%), with dominant funding support coming from United States health agencies such as the NIH and USAID. These findings indicate that art counseling is developing as a powerful interdisciplinary approach, especially in the context of mental health, psychosocial interventions, and trauma recovery, and open up opportunities for broader research development in the field of counseling and counselor education in the future.

Abstract

Suicide is an unresolved global crisis. Trends indicate that suicides are increasingly being committed by adolescents, with over 51% of suicides occurring in those under 45. Previous research has noted that individuals who have attempted suicide have a negative and pessimistic outlook on life. This study aims to describe the meaning of individuals' experiences in postponing suicide. Suicide attempters were selected through snowball sampling. Data collection was conducted through phenomenological interviews and participant observation. Data analysis used descriptive phenomenological analysis to elicit the essence of suicidal experiences into phenomenological themes. This study identified three themes that can facilitate suicidal ideation: spirituality, family and hope. The implication of this research is that suicide prevention efforts can consider these findings as protective factors for individuals at risk of suicide and build support networks for suicide survivors.
