Abstract

Al-Qur’an and Hadith the two main sources of Islamic teaching do not mention any kind of state that moslems should build whether it be monarchy state or democratic one. More than that, both sources do not either tell the way to choose a leader. Al-Qur’an only tells that the public affairs should be discussed among the moslems particularly their prominent figures. So it was the creativity and improvisation of the disciples of the late prophet when they chose the first four caliphs. On the other hand, the Syiah community established their belief that leadership (imamah) of moslems community does not belong to any moslem but it belongs to Ali Bin Abi Thalib and his descendants. Then the imamah transformed to the concept of Wilayatul Faqih in the modern Islamic Republic of Iran. This study describes how the concept of imamah growed and transformed to theory of wilayatul faqih in Syiah community of Iran

Abstract

This study examines the significance of Islamic education in forming national character. By exploring the historical context, conceptual framework, and values of Islamic education, this research demonstrates the vital role of Islamic education in shaping the character, values, and worldview of individuals and communities. The study argues that Islamic education provides a moral and spiritual foundation for individuals and societies, promoting integrity, justice, compassion, responsibility, and unity. The results of the study show that Islamic education consistently educates values such as honesty, responsibility, truth, justice and respect for others, which are very important in the formation of individual character with integrity. Islamic education also plays a role in strengthening students' cultural and religious identity, promoting tolerance, mutual respect and social solidarity amidst the cultural and religious diversity of Nigerian society. Not only that, the integration of modern knowledge and life skills in the Islamic education curriculum ensures that individuals develop not only moral qualities but also relevant competencies to face global challenges. However, challenges such as limited competent human resources, relevance of the curriculum to the needs of the times, and lack of funds and infrastructure, are obstacles that need to be overcome. The findings of this research have implications for education policymakers, practitioners, and scholars seeking to promote holistic and balanced education that fosters national character and social cohesion.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of the Independent Curriculum at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Makamhaji Kartasura known as "SMP Muhammadiyah Duta", a small school with fewer than 50 students. Despite its limited resources, the school endeavors to optimize the learning goals of the Independent Curriculum introduced by Indonesia’s Ministry of Education and Culture. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis involving the principal, two teachers, and six students across grades 7–9. The findings reveal that the Independent Curriculum is applied progressively, with a focus on aligning educational strategies with local potential and student needs. The curriculum emphasizes adaptable and flexible lesson planning, integrating Islamic values across subjects, and continuous assessments to ensure learning objectives are met. Key outcomes include a learning design that holistically develops student competencies in knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Project-based learning and problem-solving activities enhance critical and creative thinking skills. The research underscores the vital role of parental and community involvement in supporting the learning process. This study contributes valuable insights into the practical implementation of the Independent Curriculum in small schools and provides a reference for other institutions aiming to adopt this model. It highlights the potential of well-designed curricula to foster independent, creative learners equipped to address future challenges effectively.

Abstract

Product recalls are critical events that can significantly impact consumer emotions and long-term brand perception. When a recall occurs, consumers often experience fear, disappointment, anger, and even embarrassment, which can erode trust and loyalty toward the brand. These emotional responses are heightened when the recall involves health or safety risks. This study explores the psychological dimensions of consumer emotions during product recalls and analyzes the strategies companies can employ to manage these emotions effectively. The objective of this research is to examine the types of emotional responses consumers exhibit post-recall, the behavioral outcomes influenced by these emotions, and how brands can recover from such crises. Employing a qualitative methodology, the study uses secondary data from academic literature, market reports, case studies, and media articles. Key examples, such as the Tylenol crisis and Toyota’s recalls, are analyzed alongside local contexts in Indonesia and Rwanda, highlighting cultural variations in consumer reactions. The findings reveal that effective communication, personalized outreach, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives are critical in mitigating negative emotions and rebuilding trust. Poorly managed recalls, on the other hand, exacerbate consumer frustration and lead to long-term reputational damage. Companies that engage consumers in the recovery process often achieve better outcomes in restoring loyalty. This study concludes that managing consumer emotions during a recall is as important as resolving the technical issue itself. By adopting a consumer-centered approach to crisis management, brands can turn challenges into opportunities to strengthen their relationships with customers.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of Islamic environmental ethics, as articulated by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), in fatwas on environmental protection. Indonesia, with its large Muslim population, faces significant ecological issues, including climate change, forest burning, and resource depletion. Recognizing the urgency of these problems, MUI has issued several fatwas on topics such as environmentally friendly mining, wildlife conservation, waste management, forest burning, and climate change. This research aims to assess the effectiveness of these fatwas in fostering sustainable environmental practices among Indonesian Muslims, examining their alignment with Islamic teachings and their impact on public attitudes, behaviors, and policy. This study employs a qualitative research design, utilizing document analysis and content analysis to explore the content and reception of MUI’s fatwas. By analyzing the fatwas’ theological foundations and practical implications, the research seeks to understand how Islamic environmental principles can mobilize religious communities to protect the environment. The results indicate that the fatwas are structured around Islamic principles, citing Qur'anic verses, Hadiths, and scholarly opinions, and provide recommendations for various stakeholders, including government officials, communities, and entrepreneurs. These fatwas emphasize collaborative efforts and advocate for responsible resource use and conservation, demonstrating that Islamic environmental ethics offer a valuable framework for addressing Indonesia’s environmental crises and promoting sustainable practices.

Abstract

The main problem in this study is how the virtue values taught in Surah Al-Baqarah verse 177 can be applied as a guideline for the formation of individual character in the context of Islamic education. This study uses a qualitative method with a thematic interpretation approach, studying in depth the content of verses through the analysis of the Qur'an text and supporting literature. The results of the study show that this verse emphasizes the importance of true virtues which include faith, deeds, and noble morals, such as patience, honesty, trust, and humility. These values contribute to the formation of character that includes an individual's relationship with God, others, and himself. The implementation of these values in Islamic education can create intellectually intelligent individuals with noble character, as well as build a harmonious society and obey Allah.

This education offers a holistic approach that aims to create individuals who not only understand the teachings of the religion but are also able to apply them in various aspects of life. Thus, Islamic Religious Education has a strategic role in shaping Islamic character, especially in the challenging modern era. This article also identifies key challenges in the implementation of PAI, such as the relevance of the curriculum to the needs of the era of globalization, as well as providing solutions based on an integrative and contextual approach. This study concludes that PAI plays an important role as an instrument for the formation of a generation with Islamic character, noble character, and firm faith, as well as being able to make a positive contribution to modern society.
