Abstract

A fishery commodity that is one of the leading commodities for fisheries in Barru Regency is anchovies (Stolephorus sp.). Salted fish is a processed fish that is preserved with the addition of crystal salt. Blanching is a heat process that uses hot water or steam, and this heating generally takes place at a temperature of 85°C.  This study aims to determine the nutritional content of dried anchovies (Stolephorus sp.) using the blanching method.  This research will be carried out in April 2025. This test was carried out at the Fisheries Product Biochemistry Laboratory of the Pangkajene and Islands State Agricultural Polytechnic. This research method uses experimental laboratories with two treatments and 3 repetitions. Sample A (blanching method), sample B (without blanching method), analysis data using the Anova test. The results showed that the dry anchovy blanching method improved the chemical quality of dried anchovies, where the value of moisture content (A 31.93%), ash content (16.34%), and protein content (72.50%) was higher and had a real effect on the blanching method (P<0.05). In conclusion, dried anchovies blanching method affects chemical quality

Abstract

The availability of K. Alvarezii seaweed seeds in terms of adequate quantity, quality and continuity is one of the fundamental problems for the development of its cultivation. This study aims to determine the growth rate of seaweed tissue culture seeds, K. alvarezii with treatment on local seeds. Seaweed seedlings after being weighed are planted using the long line method and measured in weight after 30 days of maintenance. Sampling of water quality parameters is carried out every week periodically. At the end of the maintenance period, weighing is carried out to determine the absolute weight growth, daily weight and daily specific growth. The data from weighing and observation were analyzed descriptively, quantitatively, and qualitatively. The results obtained showed excellent growth and almost uniform seed size in tissue culture seed yields. All water quality parameters are in the decent to optimal range. Tissue culture seeds are considered suitable for development in the waters of Fiditan Village, North Dullah Island District, Tual City.

Abstract

Abstract

Nickel mining plays a strategic role in supporting the national economy, particularly for the metal and renewable energy industries. However, mining activities also generate significant environmental impacts, especially land degradation and the decline of aquatic resource quality due to increased sedimentation, alterations in the physical and chemical properties of soil and water, and the introduction of heavy metals into aquatic systems. These conditions directly disrupt aquatic ecosystems and reduce biodiversity. This article aims to review rehabilitation and conservation strategies for aquatic resources in post-nickel mining areas through a literature review approach. The study employed a descriptive qualitative method by analyzing relevant national and international scientific publications focusing on land reclamation, revegetation, water quality management, and post-mining aquatic ecosystem restoration. The review results indicate that effective rehabilitation of aquatic resources requires an integrated approach, including land reclamation to stabilize soil conditions, revegetation using adaptive plant species to improve soil fertility and control erosion, and water quality management through sedimentation ponds, constructed wetlands, and riparian vegetation. The implementation of these strategies has been shown to reduce sediment and heavy metal loads, improve water quality, and support the recovery of aquatic ecological functions. Furthermore, community involvement and sustainable management practices are essential to ensure long-term rehabilitation success. With well-planned and sustainable rehabilitation efforts, post-nickel mining areas have the potential to be restored into healthy and productive aquatic ecosystems that provide ecological as well as socio-economic benefits for surrounding communities

Abstract

Urban activities are one of the main factors that put significant pressure on river ecosystems through the disposal of domestic waste, industrial waste, and surface runoff that carry various types of pollutants, along with population growth, increased economic activity, and uncontrolled land-use changes. These conditions have an impact on the decline in water quality which is characterized by an increase in the load of organic matter, nutrients, and harmful substances, thereby triggering the degradation of river habitats in the form of excessive sedimentation, damage to riparian vegetation, and changes in the physical structure of river channels, which ultimately lead to a decrease in aquatic biodiversity, both in terms of number and species composition. Many aquatic organisms, such as fish and macrozoobentos, are becoming increasingly vulnerable to pollution and habitat loss, resulting in population declines and even local extinctions. Based on these conditions, this article aims to examine the concept of conservation and rehabilitation of river aquatic resources affected by urban waste through a national literature review approach. The method used is a literature study of Indonesian scientific journals, reference books, and official government documents related to environmental and water resources management. The results of the study show that urban river conservation and rehabilitation efforts require an integrated approach that includes pollution control through effective waste management, restoration of river and riparian habitats, and sustainable management of watersheds, supported by strong environmental policies, consistent law enforcement, and active community participation to ensure the sustainability of the ecological function of rivers
