Abstract

An earthquake is the result of a sudden energy release in earth crust, which creates waves, vibrations or shocks that happen on earth surface. The purpose of this study is to predict the number of earthquake in Aceh based on previous data using ARIMA (Box-Jenkins) method to see the accuracy level of earthquake prediction and strength. The data that were used is earthquake data in Aceh taken from January 2010 until August 2017 from BMKG website. The results show that the ARIMA diagnostic examination models ([2], 1, [1]) are the best models for observation data. Based on the results of earthquakes prediction in Aceh in 2018 by Arima method, the highest earthquake strength of 4,647 occurs in January 2018 and There is no earthquake strength that has tsunami potential.

Abstract

The following wall is one of the robotic navigation systems used in competitions, such as the Indonesian Smart Robot Contest where the wall follower type robot can follow the contours of the walls arena. This type was chosen because the race arena of the contest consisted of the walls that formed hallway and the room. Ability of a robot to complete its mission is the focus, for that reason, a reliable navigation system is necessary. Robot control cannot be separated from a control system that can process the received signal to become a command that can move the robot and perform the task as desired. By applying the Right Wall Follower algorithm, it is expected that the robot will be able to complete its mission. So it is seen as having intelligence, because it can avoid the wall in front and beside it.

Abstract

Bustanus Salatin or Taman Sari Aceh was one of the largest public open space more than twenty years ago. However, after more than one decade tsunami hit Banda Aceh, the park changed and got more amenities to support public activities inside. This research aims to assess function, quality of space, and activities whether it is related to socialecological and resilience of tsunami disaster. The methodology in this research were field survey, zone mapping and digital measurement. The findings of field survey were permanent buildings with different heights almost covered seventy five percent of park area. Overall physical conditions were not well maintained so the existing facilities become redundant and not well functioned. Furthermore, playground area was diminished because of new adding stage in the middle of park which influence social-ecology landscape and public activities. Moreover, the highest building should be evacuation space for resilience of tsunami disaster.

Abstract

The main component in the road's construction is its pavement. The pavement is used to protect subgrade soil as well as prevent it from the overload of the strain due to a big number of loading repetitions. It also used to lengthen the durability of the roads, therefor it minimizes the need of renovations. In this research, we use mechanistic approach namely KENPAVE program that analyze the response of the structure of each pavement layers. The objective of this program is to response to the result of pavement's structure which is horizontal and vertical tensile of strain, under both surface layer and upper subgrade layer. The following step is the calculation of loading repetition's value in the failure, in doing so, rutting damages are taken into account. Parameter study in this research is to vary vehicle's loading capacity, which is one of the mechanistic method parameter. Splitting variation of the vehicle's loading capacity into five variations from standard variation 265,5 KPa to 365,5 KPa, 465,5 KPa, 565,5 KPa, and 665,5 KPa. Next, the research will be inputting values to the KENPAVE program to collect strain's values and calculate loading repetition's values. The result found from through the research is that the more loading variations, the higher strain into the road pavement's structure, and the less loading variation, the lower strain take place. Strain values are also influenced by loading repetitions' values inversely proportional. The higher strain's value, the fewer sums of the loading repetitions.

Abstract

Banda Aceh is a city where the tourism sector is growing rapidly. The tourists from outside Aceh, especially those who are visiting Banda Aceh for the first time, will have little difficulty in accessing tourist locations in this city because they do not have detail information about the locations. The purpose of this study is to develop a mobile-based Geographic Information System on tourism in Banda Aceh, which can help tourists in choosing the tourist location they want to visit and recommend the nearest route from the user's position to the tourist spot, by using the shortest popular route search algorithm, Dijkstra's algorithm. In addition, this application uses Haversine Formula in calculating the distance between two location on a surface of earth. The results of this study are dual-language android-based applications that can inform tourist locations and display the nearest route from the user's position to the tourist spot.

Abstract

The concept of place identity examines the relationship between personal identity and physical location, emphasizing the importance of location in the lives of people and the communities that inhabit them. In the last twenty years, place identity has become an important issue in urban planning and design, especially in conservation or preservation. This research aims to identify the place identity of the Medan Post Office as one of the urban heritage in Medan City to maintain the historic building sustainably. Medan Post Office was chosen because it is located in the city center which is the center of accessibility with the area with the highest concentration of pedestrians and tourists so it is referred to as Medan’s Zero Point. This research used descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. This research combines qualitative and quantitative methods through direct observation and interviews as well as conducting questionnaires to obtain information on respondents’ characteristics and perceptions of place identity variables. The results showed that the place identity formed in Medan Post Office as an effort to maintain urban heritage is supported by self-efficacy and self-esteem variables as the strongest identities. In contrast, continuity and distinctiveness variables are the weakest identities. The self-efficacy variable becomes the strongest identity due to the accessibility indicator at Medan Post Office, followed by self-esteem with high evaluation value. However, the continuity variable that reflects the value of the place still needs to be improved because its value is the lowest. So it needs further development to increase the continuity or distinctiveness of the place following its potential as urban heritage. Abstract

In an intercity movement, the choice of mode plays a fairly important role, someone will move from one city to another will certainly consider many things. In traveling during the day or night on the Lhokseumawe Medan route or vice versa, travelers will be faced with a choice of land transportation modes, namely using the Putra Pelangi Bus and the Hiace Minibus. This study aims to determine the characteristics of mode users, factors that influence mode selection. Modeling analysis was carried out using multiple linear regression analysis method. Multiple linear analysis serves to measure the effect of the independent variables on the dependent variable. There are two regression models in this study, the first model based on the characteristics of the mode (Y1) and the second based on the characteristics of the passengers (Y2). The best model based on the characteristics of the mode is Y1= 0.656 + 0.021X1 + 0.108X2 + 0.019X3 + 0.130X4 with R2=0.962 and The best model based on the characteristics of the passengers is Y2= Y= 1,775-0,032X1+0,094X2-0,005X3+0,028X4+0,079X5+0,059X6-0,226X8 with R2=0.564.
