Abstract

The ultimate goal of biodiversity offset is to avoid net loss and preferably net gain from species composition side, habitat structure, ecosystem function, community use, and cultural values related with biodiversity. The idea of biodiversity offset has created controversy for some conservation societies because there is concern that the use of this scheme may encourage governments to continue to allow projects that have a serious impact on biodiversity as long as the project offers compensation. This scheme could also allow the company to leave significant impacts on the project area as long as it holds conservation activities elsewhere. Therefore, the application of biodiversity offsets must strictly adhere to the mitigation hierarchy that places biodiversity offsets as the last resort after all possible efforts have been made to avoid and minimize the impact of the development project and restore biodiversity in the project area

Abstract

Lecturer performance data is an important data that must be possessed by every lecturer and institution, therefore efforts are needed to ensure quality management of the university. For this reason, it is necessary to get the right algorithm to secure data. The RSA (Rivest- hamir-Adleman) algorithm is one of the public key algorithms in the field of cryptography which is popular and widely used today. The number one factor that can be used to carry out prime numbers is a long time to do the factoring. Data that is encrypted with the RSA algorithm must be changed to universal code, namely ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) or the American Standard Code for nformation exchange are the International Standard in universal letters and symbol codes. Based on the Basic Tri Dharma of Higher Education, measurement of lecturer performance needs to be carried out in accordance with their original objectives. Data can be obtained from each lecturer up to date with good data security.

Abstract

Indonesia is an archipelagic country and has a long coastline. Beach tourism in Indonesia is very potential to be developed. Thus, it needs to be structured and developed in order to improve urban development. The tourism sector has important values and contributions with broad imensions, in economic, social-political, cultural, regional and environmental. The purpose of this research is to formulate the concept of Waterfront City in the development for the purpose of developing waterfront tourism. Analyzing the aspects needed for the construction of waterfront tourism in Lhokseumawe City. This paper raises the study of important aspects that need to be considered in the development of ourism areas, especially coastal tourism areas. The research was conducted with mixed methods, qualitative and quantitative. With this writing, it is expected to be an input to the tourism areas planning in Indonesia and in Lhokseumawe city in order to improve regional development, especially in the waterfront tourism sector. The conclusion with the existence of waterfront tourism planning, it is expected to have guidelines and important things related to regional development in order to increase economic growth

Abstract

Progressive deterioration (e.g., corrosion) of the ageing bridge infrastructure is the main cause of structural deterioration and early failure of bridge especially in the marine environment. This paper presents a reliability-based approach for predicting the residual life of a bridge subjected to progressive deterioration. Specially, this study mainly focuses on developing a numerical approach for assessing the time-dependent probability of failure of a bridges. The results ofstudy show that the increase of progressive deterioration rates has a great impact on the decrease of bridge residual life. Further, the proposed realibility-based approach demonstrates the potential use for assessing probability of failure as well as predicting the residual life of bridges.

Abstract

This study describes the processing of thermoplastic polypropylene from used plastic packaging with filler of palm oilbunches as a composite. Polypropylene material is crushed and melted using xylene solvent and then mixedhomogeneously with micrometer-sized filler, then presses using a hot press at a temperature of 165oC. Methods ofphysical and chemical modification of fibers with polypropylene matrix and the addition of several additives werecarried out to improve compatibility, mechanical properties, morphology, electrical properties and biodegradability ofcomposites. Analysis of mechanical properties obtained tensile strength of 13.053 MPa, elastic modulus of 455.252MPa, impact of 3019.1 J/m2. Infra reed (FT-IR) analysis shows that the -OH functional group of fibers places a positionadjacent to the polypropylene functional group. Surface structure analysis (SEM) showed that the fiber bond strengthbetween the matrix and the analysis of thermal properties showed a high melting temperature of 488.33oC

Abstract

In the image identification process, the determination of geometric coordinate transformations must be in line with thetwo images. To identify the tested image, the size of similarity is defined by the alignment quality of these two images, which measures the similarity between the tested and the fixed image. So that to detect PCB layout, it also be determinedby matching the PCB image reference feature with the tested PCB image based on differences in the imaging conditionsresult. Ideally, a good similarity measurement has almost a zero deferent value and a larger value for different images. Therefore, the Eucledian distance algorithm is proposed in this paper to detect similarity among PCBs layout with 15training image and 30 tested images samples. Each training image has a varying reduction quality of image. From thesimulation results can be concluded that this algorithm can be used in a detecting similarity of PCB layout

Abstract

The number of practical work reports that have been published by department makes a coordinator of on the job training have difficulty in determining the feasibility of the title of the on the job training report quickly. This happened because each report that was made must be unique in terms of the methods and objects that are examined in a particular institution/company. So that reports that have been published previously did not experience plagiarism. Winnowing algorithm is an algorithm used to detect the similarity of words/sentences in two or more texts that are compared. If there are two texts that are the same, a fingerprint will be formed. So that the practical work coordinator can determine the feasibility of the title of on the job training report quickly and the creation of an online-based on the job training report information system that can be accessed at any time.

Abstract

Enormous amount of Gayo Arabica coffee-by-products highlights its potential as source of renewable energy. Utilizing coffee skin as a raw material for bio-briquettes is considered as an effective way to minimize their wastage as landfill. This study aims to examine the characteristics of bio-briquettes produced through the cold-forming process at a pressure of 100, 150 and 200 kg/cm2 without binder. Prior to briquetting process, the raw material was sun-dried, ground and sieved to 0.841 mm. A mixture was then made by adding water followed by molding and drying processes. Characterization of the briquette employs a number of techniques including DSC, TGA, bomb calorimeter and proximate analyses as well as mechanical testing. The results show that the calorific value of the coffee-skin briquette is 4764 cal/g containing 16.5 wt% of moisture, 12 wt.% ash. The rate of combustion is 0.019 g/s with ignition time of 196 s. Varying briquetting pressure results in a change in ignition time of bio-briquettes as the density is increased. However, no significant change was observed on the rate of combustion upon increasing the briquetting pressure. This investigation concludes the potential use of coffee industry by-product as feedstock for solid

Abstract

This study aims to identify slope conditions along the shaft roads of Palopo-North Toraja using SRTM imagery related to landslide potential areas. The method used in identifying these areas comprises two approaches utilizing satellite imagery and field surveys. SRTM images are proposed to satellite imagery which was analyzed spatially by using the slope feature in the arc toolbox ArcGIS. On the other hand, field surveys were carried out by observing 19 location points which were used as observation stations in terms of recording coordinates and description of land cover, slope and landslide potential area. As the results, areas that experience cracks (landslide crawling) are founded from flat-slope to low-slope areas whereas medium-slope locations at 35,9% up to high-slope locations around 72,5% are landslides potential areas with the type of translation avalanche.
