Abstract

The significant difference between the number of public facilities in regencies/cities and the number of public facilities in Central Java Province, which is feared to result in high inequality, is the focus of this study. The objective of this research is to determine the level of inequality in public facilities and the factors that influence the inequality of public facilities in Central Java Province. Secondary data is utilized and analyzed using the Modified Williamson Index approach and Multiple Regression Analysis. The variables employed include population growth rate, transfer income, and the Human Development Index (HDI). The analysis of the Modified Williamson Index reveals an inequality level of public facilities in Central Java Province of 0.21. The highest level of inequality in public facilities is found in Cilacap Regency, Boyolali Regency, and Kebumen Regency. The factors influencing the inequality of public facilities include the significant variable of transfer income in relation to the level of inequality in public facilities. However, the variables of population growth rate and the Human Development Index (HDI) are not significant factors in relation to the inequality of public facilities.

This paper study whether the price of coconut oil, the price of crude palm oil, the price of virgin olive oil, and gross domestic product influence the quantity export for Indonesian and Philippines coconut oil. Using multiple linear regression, the results indicate that in the Philippines the variables used in the study (price of coconut oil, price of crude palm oil, price of virgin olive oil and Philippines GDP) have no significant impact on export quantity for Philippines. While coconut oil export quantity for Indonesia is significantly influenced by Indonesia GDP.Keywords: export of coconut oil, crude palm oil, virgin olive oil, gross domestic product

Abstract

The tourism sector is one of the essential sectors that drive economic growth. There are many tourist destinations in Madura Island that have uniqueness, where the tourism is based on beaches, culture, history, and even religion. However, the existence of tourist destinations has not been widely felt by the Madurese community economically. Therefore, tourism development in Madura needs attention, considering the tourism sector plays a vital role in encouraging economic growth. This research uses scalogram analysis and K-Means Clustering analysis. The scalogram analysis consists of Location Coefficient (LC) analysis which reflects the level of importance of a facility in an area, and functional index analysis, which is used to measure the hierarchy of facilities in each district or region. Meanwhile, the K-Means Clustering analysis is intended to see the Madura tourism clusters. This study indicates that Sumenep Regency can be the centre of tourism growth in attractions, amenities, and accessibility. The analysis shows that Sumenep Regency is the closest distance to the cluster centre or can be categorized as an advanced cluster. Then, Pamekasan Regency is a less developed cluster because it is far from the cluster centre. This research provides some recommendation in increasing economic growth in Madura.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the digitization process in service systems and manufacturing industries in most countries, although at varying speeds. This was triggered by social distancing requirements and other COVID-19-related regulations imposed by governments around the world, including Indonesia. Digital technology is widely regarded as a promising means of promoting gender equality in education, the labor market, access to finance, and health care. This study is aimed at examining whether there are significant differences between female and male workers in the labor market and the digital access they have during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research design used is quantitative. The objects in this study are female and male workers in the province of Bali.  In general, the results here confirm indications of increasing gender inequality in Bali. Gender issues are often ignored in gender-related research because technology is believed to be gender-neutral. Male workers have higher productivity than female workers in the labor market. The gender approach argues that technology is not neutral, but dependent on culture. Technology reflects the society that creates it. Access to (and effective use of) technology is affected by a spectrum of exclusions that intersect including gender, ethnicity, age, social class, geography, and disability. The power relations that exist in society determine the enjoyment of the benefits of ICTs, therefore they are not gender-neutral.

Income inequality is now an issue bordering not only the developing countries, but also the emerging and the developed ones as well. The results obtained from the estimated model enabled to draw some interesting conclusions. Firstly, quality of the rule of law determines income inequality, secondly, trade liberalisation conditions income, thirdly, level of financial development determines inequality of income and finally, education level in emerging countries decreases level of income inequality, while it increases the level of inequality in the developed countries of the continent.

Abstract

In informal sector, labor is unnecessary to have a higher degree and special skill. So that, working in informal sector is one of the solutions for labor with low skill to gain an income and move out from poverty. This research aims to analyse determinant factors of labor income in informal sector, focused on demographic and social economics variables. By using SAKERNAS data from Indonesian Statistics, this research is adopted Mincer Wage Equation and conducted by Ordinary Least Square Method. The result shows that Mincer Equation still a robust model for modelling wage factor. Labor with more educational backgrounds come up with higher income since the education will refine the workability and capability to improve productivity. In the other hand, labor in informal sector who live in the village earn more income than those who work in the city area. This conclude that by right policy, informal sector can develop higher income as high as formal sector.
