Abstract

Turida Hamlet located in Turida Barat, Sandubaya District, Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara has potential diversity of homegarden plants. This study aims to analyze the level of species diversity of homegarden plants in the area. The method used was direct observation of plants found in community homegardens. The collected data were analyzed using the Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H’). The results showed that there were 15 plant species with varying number of individuals. The diversity index (H’) value obtained was 2.55, which is categorized as moderate diversity. In addition, the evenness index (E) value of 0.76 indicates that the distribution of individuals among species is relatively even and there is no significant dominance by certain species. Therefore, the homegarden plant community in Turida Hamlet has moderate diversity with relatively stable ecosystem conditions.

Abstract

Air pollution is an increasing environmental problem due to human activities, such as industry and transportation, which produce various hazardous pollutants. One method that can be used to monitor air quality is biomonitoring using living organisms, such as bryophytes (Bryopsida). This study aims to determine the role and working mechanism of bryophytes as bioindicators of air pollution. The method used is a literature review by examining various relevant national and international scientific references, then analyzed descriptively. The results of the study indicate that bryophytes have the ability to absorb and accumulate air pollutants such as heavy metals (Pb, Cd, Hg) and pollutant gases (SO₂ and NOx) directly through their entire body surface. In addition, bryophytes are also very sensitive to environmental changes, so changes in their condition and presence can reflect the level of air pollution. Thus, bryophytes can be used as effective, efficient, and accurate bioindicators in air quality monitoring.

Abstract

Dasan Cermen Hamlet, located in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, has a significant potential for diverse yard plant diversity. This study aims to analyze the level of yard plant species diversity in the area. The method used was direct observation of plants found in community yards. The data obtained were analyzed using the Shannon-Wiener Index (H). The results showed several plant species with varying numbers of individuals. The diversity index (H) value of 1.37 is categorized as moderate. This indicates that the yard plant community in Dasan Cermen Hamlet has a fairly stable ecosystem.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the reproductive biology of the pennywort (Centella asiatica). The methods used were observation and experiments conducted in Kediri Village, West Lombok Regency. The results indicate that Centella asiatica can reproduce both generatively and vegetatively. Generative reproduction occurs through flower formation, pollination, and seed formation, but is not the primary method of reproduction. Vegetative reproduction occurs through stolons, which grow creeping and form new individuals at each node, making them more dominant due to their speed and efficiency. Thus, this reproductive ability demonstrates Centella asiatica's high adaptability to the environment.

Abstract

Muntingia calabura (kersen) is a tropical plant with high adaptability that reproduces generatively through seeds. This study aimed to determine the generative reproduction process of kersen through natural seed germination and to observe the early growth and adaptive response of the plant after being transplanted into planting media. The method used was observation with a descriptive approach. The study was conducted for approximately 14 days, using young plants resulting from natural germination as the research objects. The procedures included collecting seedlings, transplanting them into planting media, and observing plant growth. The results showed that the plant did not exhibit significant height growth, remaining at approximately 15 cm, and the number of leaves decreased from 8 to 6 due to leaf yellowing and abscission. This condition indicates the occurrence of transplant shock after relocation to new planting media. However, the plant maintained an upright stem, indicating its ability to survive. Therefore, generative reproduction through seeds is the main mechanism of kersen propagation, although early plant growth is strongly influenced by environmental conditions and adaptation processes.
