Abstract

The specimens of Caulerpa racemosa ,Codium edule, Halimeda tuna, Ulva reticulata, Dictyota dichotoma, Sargassum crassifolium, and Turbinaria ornata were collected from the Sumba Islands waters, Indonesia. The crude methanol extracts of those specimens, n-hexane, dichloromethane and water fraction of Sargassum crassifolium were tested for antioxidant activity using the thiocyanate method. The methanol extracts of Caulerpa racemosa, Halimeda tuna, Ulva reticulata, Dictyota dichotoma, Sargassum crassifolium, and Turbinaria ornata showed antioxidant activity, but extracts of Codium edule did not show antioxidant activity. All of the Sargassum crassifolium fractions were active, but the water fraction of this extract was more active than the other fraction.

Abstract

Although a lot of experimental data can be found, the variety of products and the differences in measurement method make limitation on the value of the available data, especially for Indonesia’s products. These data are needed to get information about temperature change when a product was processed by heating or cooling. The data are important for optimizing the efficiency of energy used in the process. The objective of this study is to determine thermal diffusivity and conductivity of mahkota dewa or crown of god (Phaleria macrocarpha). The values were determined numerically with indirect methods. The result shows that thermal conductivity of mahkota dewa is 0.1359 W/moC, while its thermal diffusivity is 4.11x10-8 m2/s.

Abstract

The west coast of Lampung area is included of high potential of disasters, both earthquake and tsunami. The Sumatera active fault zone and subduction zone are located in the area and as a source of earthquake hazards. The big earthquakes had struck in the in 1933 and 1994, causing great damages and manycasualties. Tectonic earthquake accompanied by tsunami causes sea water demolished main land kilometers away in the lowland topography of west coast of Lampung. The accuracy data of earthquake and tsunami disasters reduction are needed for disaster mitigation, land use management,regional planning and sustainable development in west coast of Lampung. All aspects of disaster risk reduction are well considered in order to minimize possible vulnerabilities and disaster risks throughout the society, activity, and place.

Abstract

The chitosan – Garcinia Mangostana extract nanoparticles has been prepared by ionic gelation reaction by mixture 0.2 % chitosan solution in acetic acid with Garcinia Mangostana extract and it’s continued by reaction process with 0.1 % sodium tripolyphosphate. The particle size of material was determined by Particle Size Analyzer (PSA) that it showed in the range of 200 – 500 nm. The color, pH, water, α- mangostin, mercury, arsenic, cadmium, lead, totally microbe aerobic, totally mold and yeast, and solvent residue contents of nanoparticles were also examined by many methods that these resulted are yellow, 4.50 – 5.50, 89 – 90 %, 1.05 %, < 0.005 ppm, < 0.01 ppm, < 0.01 ppm, < 0.05 ppm, < 10 CFU/g, < 10 CFU/g and not detected, respectively. The other characterization was also observed that it’sincluded stability andTLC chromatogram. A mixture of nanoparticles with cosmetics bases was showed that it’s increased stability, homogeneity and easy to formed.

Abstract

Kaolin is one of a very important raw material for fine porcelain ceramic production and the kaolin resources can be found in many places in Indonesia. Kaolin characteristic tests which include (chemical, physical, furnace, mineralogy, grain size) showed that the sample 1 and 2 do not meet the standard of porcelainceramic raw material. Fe2O3 concentrations of sample 1 and TiO2 concentrations of sample 2 were below SNI standard. In order to meet the SNI standard for isolator, post processing are required. These can further be important for the development of medium to high voltage isolator industries in Indonesia.

Abstract

The research of this final task discusses the piping stress analysis on suction oil pipeline pumps with a comprehensive method using CAESAR II software. The purpose is to determine the distribution and magnitude of the stresses, forces, moments, and optimization of piping system. One of the methods to provide protection against multiple failure modes is by performing piping stress analysis. Simulation modeling is done to analyze piping system reaction to the thermal response, pressure, dead weight, wind loads, and seismic loads. This analysis also involves evaluation of forces and moments acting on the piping system that is connected to the nozzle equipment. From the analysis report, distribution of stresses, forces, and moments acting on the piping system are obtained, and showed the result has optimized. Occurrence of shift and magnitude of the forces and moments act on the piping element is not locked up on several nodes so it is not cause increased the larger stress. The highest stress is on node 460, load case 39 (expansion loads) with code stress = 319.8 N/sq.mm, allowable stress = 320.3 N/sq.mm,thus 319.8 N/sq.mm ≤ 320.3 N/sq.mm. In general, the optimization result in the piping system due to the loading factor complied to the allowable requirement, i.e: stresses, forces, and moments acting on the pipingsystemdoes not exceed the allowable stress and allowable nozzle loads based on ASME Code B31.3 and API Standard 610.Penelitian tugas akhir ini membahas analisis tegangan perpipaan pada suction oil pipeline pumps dengan metode komprehensif menggunakan perangkat lunak CAESAR II. Dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui distribusi dan besarnya tegangan, gaya-gaya, momen-momen dan optimalisasi pada sistem perpipaan. Salah satu metode untuk memberikan perlindungan terhadap beberapa mode kegagalan dengan melakukan analisis tegangan perpipaan. Simulasi pemodelan dilakukan untuk menganalisis sistem perpipaan terhadap respon termal, tekanan, bobot mati, beban angin, dan beban seismik. Analisis ini juga melibatkan evaluasi gaya-gaya dan momen-momen yang bekerja pada sistem perpipaan yang terhubung ke nozzle equipment. Dari laporan analisis diperoleh distribusi tegangan, gaya-gaya, dan momen-momen yang bekerja pada sistem perpipaan dan diperoleh hasil optimal. Terjadinya pergeseran dan besarnya gaya-gaya dan momen-momen yang bekerja pada elemen perpipaan tidak tersekap pada beberapa node sehingga tidak menyebabkan tegangan berkembang menjadi lebih besar. Tegangan tertinggi pada node 460, load case 39 (expansion loads) dengan code stress = 319.8 N/sq.mm, allowable stress = 320.3N/sq.mm sehingga 319.8 N/sq.mm ≤ 320.3 N/sq.mm. Secara keseluruhan hasiloptimalisasi pada sistem perpipaan akibat dari faktor pembebanan telah memenuhi persyaratan allowable, yaitu tegangan, gaya-gaya, dan momen-momen yang bekerja pada sistem perpipaan tidak melebihi dari allowable stress dan allowable nozzle loads berdasarkan pada ASME Code B31.3 dan API Standard 610.Keywords: stress analysis,CAESAR II, optimalisasi, piping system

Abstract

Temulawak is a plant propagated vegetatively with rhizomes. Its rhizome undergoes a dormancy phase in dry season and this phase will break up in wet season. The objective of this study is to know the dormancy breaking by soaking the temulawak rhizome in stimulating biology liquid (0, 2, 4, 6 ml/l) and commercial auxin liquid (0, 10, 20, mg/l). The result showed that both liquid could stimulate the dormancy breaking. However those treatments were not different with control (biology liquid 0 g/l and commercial auxin 0 mg/l ). The number of shooting rhizomes, total shoots, rooted rhizomes and total roots in all treatment were not significantly different from the control.

Ship resistance is very importance to learn as we need to calculate the main power of the ship to reach the defined speed. In fact ship resistance has several components, which one and each other make interaction and mechanism in the emerging of ship resistance. This paper will focus on the explanation of the component of ship resistance in the case of high speed vessel.

Abstract

The increasing trend of CO2 emission globally, has been creating climate change in some areas in the world. The impact of climate change could cause disaster for human life such as drought and flood, health deseases, etc. Currently many programs and schemes are introduced to reduce CO2 emission. The low carbon development is one of those programs which is the economic development has to take into acount the CO2 emission reduction. This study found 90 % of the CO2 emision came from forestry sector, especially deforestation and fires. The recent CO2 emission was 70,3 MtCO2e in 2005 and estimated 79 MtCO2e in 2020, then finally will be 93,5 MtCO2e. Therefore mitigation actions should be focused on the forestry sector, these are reforestation & afforestation, REDD, mangrove rehabilitation, agroforestry development, and fire protection. These action programs potentially could reduce the CO2 emission as high as 76,8% in 2030.

Abstract

Industry sector especially small industry sub-sector is one of dominated activities in rural area of Lombok Tengah Regency. From these small industries, industry of ketak, tenun and gerabah have big role and contribution for the economic development in this area. However, recently they are still facing constraints or obstacles mainly in order to improve and develop their production factors such as labor, capital, natural resources/raw material, technology, and marketing. It is needed to make constructive efforts for improving the production factors performance of these three kinds of small industries in order to improve the product competitiveness and the welfare of the industrial agents in Lombok Tengah Regency.
