Abstract

Objective: This study aims to analyze the social dynamics underlying the conflict over the construction of the HKBP Maranatha Church in Cilegon City, identify the social and political factors that intensified the conflict, and examine the role of local government in facilitating conflict resolution. The study also considers the relevance of inclusive governance and peaceful conflict management to Sustainable Development Goal 16.  Method: This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis involving representatives of local government institutions, religious organizations, community groups, and parties directly affected by the conflict. The data were analyzed thematically and validated through source triangulation and member checking. Results:  The findings indicate that the conflict was shaped by prejudice, interreligious distrust, unequal access to decision-making, political intervention, and ambiguity in the implementation of government regulations. The local government performed several roles as mediator, facilitator, collaborator, controller, and monitor. However, the effectiveness of these roles was constrained by inconsistent institutional responses and unequal power relations between majority and minority religious groups.  Novelty: This study integrates structural conflict, symbolic interpretation, and local governance perspectives to explain how religious symbols, power inequalities, and administrative procedures interact in conflicts over houses of worship. It demonstrates that transparent regulation, inclusive dialogue, and equitable participation are essential for strengthening peaceful institutions in accordance with SDG 16.

Abstract

Objective: The study examines the effects of green accounting and corporate social responsibility disclosure on the stock prices of oil, gas, and coal companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. It also considers the relevance of corporate sustainability disclosure to Sustainable Development Goal 12, particularly the promotion of responsible and transparent business practices. Method: The study employed a quantitative explanatory design using secondary data obtained from annual reports, sustainability reports, PROPER assessments, GRI-based disclosures, and stock-price information. The population consisted of 87 energy-sector companies observed from 2019 to 2023. Purposive sampling generated a final sample of 10 companies and 50 firm-year observations. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, partial and simultaneous hypothesis tests, and the coefficient of determination. Results:  Green accounting had a statistically significant partial effect on stock prices, whereas corporate social responsibility disclosure did not demonstrate a significant partial effect. Simultaneously, the two disclosure variables did not significantly explain stock-price variation at the 5% significance level. The adjusted coefficient of determination was 8.0%, indicating that most stock-price movements were explained by factors outside the model. Novelty: The study integrates PROPER-based environmental performance, GRI-oriented CSR disclosure, and capital-market outcomes within Indonesia’s extractive energy sector. It demonstrates that sustainability information alone remains insufficient to explain investor valuation, highlighting the need for more comparable, decision-useful, and credible disclosure practices supporting SDG 12.

Abstract

Objective: The study aims to identify and synthesize the major factors contributing to Out-of-School Children (OSC) in Indonesia as evidence for supporting the implementation of the 13-year compulsory education policy mandated by Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 59 of 2024 concerning the National Long-Term Development Plan (2025–2045), which supports the realization of Golden Indonesia 2045. Method: The study employed a literature review with a meta-analysis approach. A total of 66 relevant research articles conducted across 34 provinces in Indonesia were analyzed, representing 854 out-of-school respondents. Data in the reviewed studies were collected through interviews and questionnaire surveys. The identified factors were synthesized and ranked based on their frequency of occurrence across the studies. Results: The analysis identified 25 factors influencing children to drop out of school or not continue their education. The six dominant factors were parents' economic constraints (81.8%), children's low interest and motivation to attend school (74.2%), unfavorable peer environment and unemployment (68.2%), limited parental attention to education (62.1%), parents' educational background (34.8%), and long distance between home and school (33.3%). The remaining 19 factors each contributed less than 30%. These findings indicate that economic, family, individual, and environmental factors simultaneously influence school participation. Novelty: The study provides a comprehensive synthesis of evidence from studies covering all 34 provinces in Indonesia and offers a national-level prioritization of the determinants of out-of-school children. The findings serve as an evidence-based reference for designing targeted interventions and educational policies to support the successful implementation of the 13-year compulsory education program through both formal and non-formal education pathways.

Abstract

Abstract. This research aims to examine and analyze the influence of competitive advantage, superior support and competitive pressure on the performance of SMEs. Apart from that, it also tests the variableof social media use which is conceptualized as a mediator. The research population is SMEs in Solo Raya. Respondents were 91 SMEs, determined by convenience and data collected through an online survey. The analysis technique used is PLS-SEM. The things that underlie this research are phenomena that occur in the business world as well as the results of previous research which shows that the use of social media in business in developing countries continues to develop. In the face of increasingly sharp competition, currently the use of social media is considered a key strategy in SMEs. The results of this research prove that competitive advantage, superior support, and competitivepressure have a significant effect on SME performance, as in the model conceptualized at the beginning.By including the social media adoption variable as a mediator, it can be shown that the influence of superior support on SME performance is mediated by social media adoption. Social media adoption isnot proven to mediate the effect of competitive advantage on SME performance, nor the effect of competitive pressure on SME performance.

Abstract

Objective: To investigate lecturers’ and students’ views of UNESCO core values in literature teaching and to examine how these values are manifested in literary learning at a Muhammadiyah University in East Java, Indonesia. Method: Employing a qualitative case study design involving three literature lecturers and thirty-one undergraduate students. Data were collected through questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, literary analysis activities, field notes, and document analysis. Results: The findings show that both lecturers and students strongly support the integration of UNESCO core values into literature teaching. Among the eight UNESCO core values, religiosity emerged as the most dominant value, reflecting the institutional philosophy of Muhammadiyah education. The values were integrated through literary analysis, classroom interaction, teaching materials, and lecturers’ role modeling. Literature classrooms also promoted empathy, tolerance, responsibility, compassion, and social awareness while maintaining literary appreciation and critical inquiry. Novelty: Offering a novel contribution by examining the integration of UNESCO Core Values into literature teaching within an Indonesian Islamic higher education context, demonstrating how literature can function as a vehicle for values-based education while advancing Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), particularly Target 4.7, which emphasizes education for sustainable development, global citizenship, cultural diversity, and the promotion of peace and human values. The findings extend the discourse on holistic education by illustrating how literary learning fosters students’ literary competence, ethical awareness, character development, and social responsibility within a faith-based university setting.
