Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of strengthening students' environmental character amid increasing ecological problems that have not been balanced by concrete behavioral awareness. This study aims to analyze the internalization process of environmental ethics (adab al-bī’ah) among Adiwiyata-based madrasah students through an experiential learning model utilizing natural realia media. A qualitative descriptive approach with a retrospective case study design was employed at MIN 3 Bondowoso. Data were gathered reconstructively post-learning activities through in-depth interviews with the fifth-grade homeroom teacher, students, and parents, and were validated through post-learning daily observations and documentation. Data trustworthiness was ensured using source triangulation. The findings indicate that the experiential learning model utilizing natural realia media successfully develops students' ecological awareness holistically. The internalization of adab al-bī’ah is consistently mapped through students' reflective memories, forming three active dimensions of post-activity behavior: hifzh al-bī'ah (preserving school environmental sustainability), ihsān ilā al-hayawān (developing active empathy toward animals), and daily self-regulation. The synergy between the reflection of realia-based learning and the Adiwiyata school culture is proven to accelerate the transformation of theoretical ecological knowledge into consistent pro-environmental behavior that extends to the students' home environments.

Abstract

This article was written using a literature study method focusing on the impact of students’ mathematics anxiety on their learning outcomes. Mathematics anxiety is one of the factors that can affect students’ learning outcomes. The analysis resulted in an understanding of anxiety and mathematics anxiety, the factors causing mathematics anxiety, and efforts to overcome students’ mathematics anxiety. Anxiety is an emotional process that occurs when a person experiences worry and uneasiness, resulting in emotional distress. Mathematics anxiety refers to feelings that arise when a person is confronted with situations related to mathematics, whether during the learning process, mathematics tests, or in everyday life involving mathematical calculations. Three factors influence mathematics anxiety: personality factors, intellectual factors, and environmental factors. Efforts that students can undertake to reduce the mathematics anxiety they experience include reducing negative thoughts about mathematics, developing confidence in their own abilities, and creating a relaxed and calm learning environment.

Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving skills are the primary focus of this study, given students’ still-low ability to solve mathematical problems. One reason for this low proficiency is the prevalence of conventional teaching models, which do not sufficiently develop higher-order thinking skills. Brain-Based Learning (BBL) is a teaching model based on the brain’s processes of receiving and processing information, with the goal of maximizing student participation and understanding. This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method in accordance with the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines. The data were obtained from a search of scientific articles in the Google Scholar, Publish or Perish, OJS Jurnal, and Garuda databases. Ten articles were deemed eligible for analysis after undergoing a screening process based on inclusion and exclusion criteria and the PRISMA flowchart. The results of the study indicate that students’ ability to solve math problems at various educational levels is positively influenced by the systematic implementation of BBL. This improvement is evident in the ability to identify problems, formulate solutions, apply those solutions, and evaluate the results. Therefore, this study can serve as an empirical foundation for further, more in-depth research on the application of BBL in mathematics education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities and their relationship with learning outcomes in mathematics education. The method employed was library research using a qualitative approach through a literature review. The data sources consisted of 16 relevant scientific articles, with 10 primary articles analyzed in depth. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities generally remain at a moderate to low level. Students tend to be able to understand problems but experience difficulties in planning strategies, carrying out solutions, and reviewing their answers. These abilities are influenced by internal factors, such as cognitive style, learning independence, learning interest, and self-confidence, as well as external factors, such as learning models and methods. Furthermore, a significant relationship was found between mathematical problem-solving abilities and students’ learning outcomes, indicating that the higher the problem-solving ability, the higher the learning outcomes achieved. Therefore, innovative and student-centered learning is needed to improve students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities, which can consequently have a positive impact on their learning outcomes.

Abstract

Speaking is one of the most essential yet most challenging skills for EFL learners. Limited practice opportunities and high anxiety in formal classrooms remain major barriers for Indonesian students. Although previous studies by Armita (2019) and Atika (2024) have examined students' perceptions of English Club extracurricular activities, those studies were conducted at the senior high school level, leaving a gap at the junior high school level within a pesantren environment. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with 16 Grade VIII students at MTS Al-Islah Jenggawah selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through non-participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and document review, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model with source and method triangulation. The findings revealed that the English Club was implemented through five systematic stages — warm-up, main activity, presentation, feedback, and closing — using materials progressively contextualized to students' daily and pesantren life. Students held both positive perceptions, including a comfortable atmosphere, increased confidence, and vocabulary development, and negative perceptions, including public speaking anxiety, limited vocabulary, and insufficient meeting frequency. It is concluded that the English Club has been implemented effectively and contributed positively to students' speaking development, although vocabulary-building activities, graduated speaking tasks, and increased meeting frequency are recommended for further improvement.

Abstract

Character education has become a central issue in contemporary education due to the increasing moral crisis and the decline of social ethics. From an Islamic perspective, character education cannot be separated from the concept of akhlaq (moral conduct), which constitutes the primary objective of education. This article aims to analyze the integration of character education within the philosophy of Islamic education through a library research approach. The findings indicate that the philosophy of Islamic education provides ontological, epistemological, and axiological foundations for character formation. This integration is reflected in the objectives of Islamic education, the concept of insān kāmil (the complete human being), exemplary based teaching methods, and the internalization of spiritual values in the educational process. Through this integration, Islamic education is capable of producing generations who are knowledgeable, faithful, and possess noble character.
