Abstract

General Background Career preparation represents a central developmental task during early adulthood, particularly for university students approaching graduation who must make informed occupational decisions aligned with personal competencies and labor market demands. Specific Background Final-year students frequently encounter uncertainty in career planning, limited occupational information, and difficulty making independent career decisions, indicating varying levels of career maturity. Future Time Perspective is considered a psychological construct reflecting individuals’ perceptions of opportunities and limitations related to their future goals and planning processes. Knowledge Gap Although career maturity has been widely discussed, empirical examination of its statistical relationship with Future Time Perspective among final-year university students remains limited within specific institutional contexts. Aims This study aims to investigate the relationship between Future Time Perspective and career maturity among final-year students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo. Results Using a quantitative correlational design with quota sampling involving 162 students, data analyzed through Spearman correlation revealed a significant positive relationship between Future Time Perspective and career maturity (r = 0.761, p < 0.001). Abstract

General Background Child development requires structured education, supervision, and moral guidance, particularly for children living in orphanages who often experience social, emotional, and behavioral challenges due to disadvantaged family backgrounds. Specific Background Orphanages function not only as social welfare institutions but also as environments responsible for shaping behavior through organized caregiving systems and educational programs. The Putra Kediri Orphanage applies behavioristic principles, especially classical conditioning, to address negative behavioral patterns among foster children. Knowledge Gap Previous studies on orphanage care primarily discuss character education and religious guidance but rarely examine the integrated practical application of behavioristic theory within caregiving strategies. Aims This study aims to identify and analyze caregiver strategies used to transform children’s behavior through structured interventions grounded in classical conditioning theory. Results Using a case study approach with Miles, Huberman, and Saldana data analysis, findings reveal that behavior transformation is achieved through interconnected strategies including in-depth interviews, continuous supervision, environmental regulation, weekly evaluations, reward and punishment systems, counseling interventions, religious education, life-skills training, leadership programs, and social awareness activities, which collectively reduce negative behavior and support academic and personal development. Novelty The study demonstrates a comprehensive integration of classical conditioning principles into daily caregiving practices within an orphanage setting through coordinated behavioral management and developmental programs. Implications These findings provide a structured caregiving framework that can inform behavioral management models and institutional child development practices in social welfare institutions seeking systematic approaches to positive behavioral formation. Highlights: Integrated Supervision and Structured Evaluation Support Consistent Behavioral Transformation Among Foster Children. Combined Counseling, Religious Instruction, and Developmental Programs Foster Moral and Personal Growth. Controlled Residential Environments Help Maintain Stability and Reduce Recurrence of Maladaptive Conduct. Abstract

General Background: Violence by security forces during public demonstrations remains a critical human rights concern, particularly when it results in civilian deaths. Specific Background: In Indonesia, several incidents involving police shootings during protests—most notably historical cases such as the 1998 Semanggi tragedy—have raised questions about the proportional use of force and adherence to operational procedures. Knowledge Gap: Despite public attention, there is limited analytical discussion grounded in legal perspectives regarding the accountability of police officers who use lethal force during riot control situations. Aims: This study analyzes the death of a student shot by a police officer during a riot, focusing on procedural compliance, legal responsibility, and avenues for justice for victims’ families. Results: The analysis indicates that the use of live ammunition against unarmed demonstrators violates established protocols, which prioritize non-lethal crowd-control measures, and such actions should be subject to legal investigation regardless of intent. Novelty: The study integrates expert legal opinion with historical context to clarify the standards governing police conduct during demonstrations and the legal consequences of procedural violations. Implications: Strengthening regulatory frameworks, improving dissemination of operational guidelines to officers, and ensuring transparent investigations are essential to prevent recurrence, uphold the rule of law, and maintain public trust in law enforcement institutions. Highlights: Lethal weapons were deployed contrary to prescribed non-deadly crowd-management rules. Families of victims retain the right to pursue justice through formal legal channels. Transparent investigation and regulatory revision are necessary to prevent future incidents. Keywords: Police Use Of Force; Live Ammunition; Student Protest; Legal Accountability; Crowd Control

Abstract

General Background: The rapid growth of social media has generated new forms of online economic activity, including live streaming that enables users to solicit virtual gifts convertible into monetary value. Specific Background: On the TikTok Live platform, such activities have increasingly involved the use of vulnerable groups—elderly persons, children, and individuals with disabilities—raising concerns about public order violations and exploitation resembling online begging. Knowledge Gap: Existing legal studies primarily address exploitation in offline contexts, while juridical analysis linking current regulations to digital gift-solicitation practices remains limited, particularly regarding enforcement and legal responsibility in Indonesia. Aims: This study examines the legal consequences of exploitative gift requests on TikTok Live and identifies relevant regulatory frameworks governing such conduct. Results: Using a normative juridical method with a statutory approach, the research finds that these practices may violate provisions related to begging, child protection, human trafficking prevention, and protection of persons with disabilities, with possible sanctions including criminal penalties, civil liability, and platform-based restrictions such as removal from monetization programs. Novelty: The study connects traditional legal norms on public order and exploitation with emerging digital behaviors on live streaming platforms. Implications: Strengthening law enforcement, regulatory oversight, and community awareness is essential to protect vulnerable populations and ensure accountability for both content creators and service providers in the digital environment. Highlights: Virtual gift solicitation involving marginalized individuals can constitute unlawful conduct under multiple statutes. Sanctions extend beyond criminal punishment to include civil claims and platform monetization restrictions. Regulatory oversight is necessary to safeguard at-risk populations within live streaming ecosystems. Keywords: TikTok Live; Online Begging; Vulnerable Groups; Legal Consequences; Digital Exploitation

Abstract

General Background: Criminal justice systems rely on multiple law enforcement actors, including advocates, to safeguard legal rights and uphold fairness during judicial processes. Specific Background: In Indonesia, advocates serve as legal counsel responsible for defending defendants, ensuring due process, and maintaining adherence to professional ethics while operating alongside police, prosecutors, and judges. Knowledge Gap: Despite their formal status as law enforcers, limited empirical insight exists into the practical challenges advocates face, particularly regarding ethical dilemmas, institutional pressures, and evolving legal contexts. Aims: This study seeks to explore advocates’ roles, challenges, defense strategies, and perspectives on legal reform in criminal cases through an in-depth interview with a legal practitioner. Results: Findings indicate that advocates encounter bureaucratic obstacles, public pressure, threats, and potential interference from other authorities, which may compromise professional independence. Effective defense relies on comprehensive investigative approaches, strong client communication, and strict adherence to ethical standards. The study also highlights the necessity of legal accompaniment for suspects facing serious charges and underscores concerns about outdated legislation in addressing modern crimes such as cyber offenses. Novelty: By presenting practitioner-based insights, the study illuminates the intersection of professional ethics, procedural justice, and legislative adequacy within real criminal case handling. Implications: Periodic legal reform, clearer recognition of advocates’ institutional position, and inclusion of legal practitioners in legislative processes are essential to build a responsive and equitable criminal justice system. Highlights: Legal practitioners confront administrative complexity, societal pressure, and security risks during case handling. Thorough evidence gathering and close client consultation form the basis of defense preparation. Regulatory updates are required to address technological developments and reduce discriminatory provisions. Abstract

General Background Narcotics abuse constitutes a serious criminal and public health problem in Indonesia, threatening social stability, security, and community welfare. Specific Background In Sidoarjo, East Java, reported cases of narcotics misuse have risen in recent years, particularly among adolescents and individuals of productive age, prompting intensified law enforcement and preventive measures by the local police narcotics unit. Knowledge Gap Despite the growing concern, limited documentation exists regarding operational practices, legal procedures, and challenges faced by regional police institutions in addressing narcotics crimes at the local level. Aims This study aims to describe the role, legal framework, and operational actions of the Sidoarjo City Police Narcotics Unit in handling narcotics abuse crimes based on an interview with a senior operational officer. Results The findings indicate that the police conduct both repressive enforcement against dealers and preventive activities, while drug users may undergo an assessment process leading to rehabilitation rather than imprisonment in accordance with national narcotics law. However, the unit encounters complex challenges, including sophisticated trafficking methods, resource limitations, and the involvement of diverse social groups. Novelty This work provides primary qualitative insight derived from practitioner testimony, offering a grounded depiction of institutional practices and challenges in a specific regional context. Implications Strengthening public education, increasing operational resources, advancing investigative capabilities, and fostering cross-sector collaboration are necessary to address narcotics abuse comprehensively at the community level. Highlights: Drug users may receive treatment placement following an integrated assessment rather than custodial sentencing. Trafficking networks employ increasingly sophisticated methods that complicate investigations. Multi-stakeholder cooperation and community participation are considered essential for suppression efforts. Keywords: Narcotics Abuse; Law Enforcement; Police Role; Rehabilitation Policy; Indonesia

Abstract

General Background: Juvenile delinquency represents a growing social concern characterized by behaviors that violate social norms, laws, and community expectations during adolescence. Specific Background: Internal factors such as emotional maturity and external factors such as parenting style are frequently associated with adolescent behavioral development, particularly within family environments that shape emotional regulation and social adjustment. Knowledge Gap: Despite increasing reports of adolescent delinquency, empirical evidence simultaneously examining authoritarian parenting and emotional maturity in relation to delinquent behavior tendencies among Indonesian high school students remains limited. Aims: This study aimed to determine the relationship between authoritarian parenting and emotional maturity with tendencies toward juvenile delinquent behavior among senior high school and vocational students in Krian District. Results: Using a quantitative correlational design with quota sampling of 337 students and multiple linear regression analysis, findings indicated that authoritarian parenting and emotional maturity jointly showed a significant relationship with juvenile delinquency tendencies, accounting for 53% of variance. Authoritarian parenting demonstrated a stronger positive relationship with delinquent behavior, whereas emotional maturity showed a significant negative relationship. Novelty: The study provides integrated empirical evidence highlighting the simultaneous contribution of parenting style and emotional developmental factors within a single regression model among adolescents in a local educational context. Implications: These findings underscore the importance of reducing authoritarian parenting practices and promoting emotional maturity development through family and school-based interventions to address adolescent delinquency tendencies and support healthier psychosocial development. Highlights: Parenting Characterized by Strict Control Is Strongly Associated With Higher Levels of Rule-Violating Conduct Among Students. Higher Emotional Regulation Capacity Corresponds With Lower Likelihood of Problematic Adolescent Actions. Combined Psychological and Family Variables Explain More Than Half of Behavioral Variation Observed in Participants.
