Abstract

General Background: Islamic inheritance law is fundamentally oriented toward justice and the protection of vulnerable family members, yet its practical application often raises challenges in contemporary contexts. Specific Background: In Indonesia, grandchildren whose parents predeceased the testator are frequently excluded from inheritance despite close kinship ties, prompting the emergence of the substitute heir doctrine in Article 185 of the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI). Knowledge Gap: Although this doctrine is normatively applied, its Qur’anic foundation—particularly the interpretation of QS. an-Nisā’ (4):33—and its ijtihad construction remain contested, as classical jurists largely rejected the notion of heir substitution. Aims: This study aims to analyze the Qur’anic implementation in the concept of substitute heirs, examine Hazairin’s ijtihad, and assess its legal implications in Indonesian inheritance law. Results: The findings demonstrate that the substitute heir concept represents a synthesis of Qur’anic reinterpretation, customary law, civil law influences, and Hazairin’s bilateral inheritance theory, positioning mawālī as descendants of predeceased heirs. Novelty: The study highlights that this concept constitutes not merely social adaptation but a reconstructive Qur’anic ijtihad strengthening the protection of orphaned grandchildren. Implications: The research underscores the need for firmer and more consistent enforcement of substitute heir provisions to ensure justice and legal certainty in inheritance distribution in Indonesia. Highlights: Emphasizes the role of ijtihad in reconstructing Qur’anic interpretation to address contemporary inheritance issues. Highlights the protection of orphaned grandchildren through the substitute heir concept in Indonesian Islamic law. Stresses the need for consistent legal enforcement to ensure justice and certainty in inheritance distribution. Abstract

General Background: Auditing quality increasingly depends on the robustness of professional judgment, especially in the identification of key audit matters that influence users’ trust in financial information. Specific Background: In Uzbekistan, audit reports frequently present key audit matters in generalized terms, limiting transparency and reducing alignment with ISA 701 standards. Knowledge Gap: Limited empirical evidence exists on how cognitive processes, analytical rigor, and evidence-based assessment shape auditors’ professional judgment in national practice. Aims: This study analyzes how auditors in Uzbekistan develop key audit matters, evaluates the cognitive and methodological criteria they apply, and proposes a structured framework to enhance judgment quality. Results: Empirical analysis of 20 major organizations shows significant variation in judgment quality, with superior performance linked to rigorous risk selection, comprehensive documentation, and strong skepticism, while deficiencies often arise from insufficient transparency and weak analytical depth. Novelty: The study introduces a multi-factor evaluation model combining cognitive appraisal, analytical criteria, and evidence-based assessment to quantify judgment accuracy. Implications: Adoption of systematic decision indicators can reduce subjectivity, enhance consistency across audit practices, increase the credibility of audit reports, and accelerate convergence with international standards in Uzbekistan’s auditing profession.Highlight : Professional judgment determines the depth and credibility of key audit matters. Evidence quality and structured analysis reduce subjectivity in audit conclusions. Cognitive and skeptical approaches strengthen alignment with ISA 701 standards. Abstract

General Background: Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder in which cognitive decline is closely linked to blood–brain barrier dysfunction. Specific Background: Tight-junction proteins such as Claudin-5 and Angulin-1 play key roles in maintaining barrier integrity, yet their involvement in Alzheimer’s pathology remains insufficiently clarified, and evidence on associated micronutrient alterations is still limited. Knowledge Gap: Despite emerging data suggesting barrier disruption and B-vitamin deficiencies in Alzheimer’s disease, the combined diagnostic relevance of Claudin-5, Angulin-1, and vitamins B9 and B12 has not been systematically examined. Aims: This study investigates the relationship between Claudin-5 and Angulin-1 in Alzheimer’s disease and evaluates differences in serum vitamin B9 and B12 levels between affected individuals and healthy controls. Results: Serum analyses revealed significantly reduced Angulin-1, Claudin-5, vitamin B9, and vitamin B12 levels in Alzheimer’s patients, alongside marked alterations in lipid profiles. ROC analysis demonstrated exceptionally high diagnostic performance for all measured biomarkers. Novelty: This work provides integrated biochemical evidence linking tight-junction protein depletion with B-vitamin deficiencies in Alzheimer’s disease, suggesting a coordinated disruption of vascular and metabolic pathways. Implications: The identified biomarkers show strong potential for non-invasive diagnostic applications and may guide the development of therapeutic strategies aimed at restoring barrier integrity and micronutrient balance.Highlight : Claudin-5 and Angulin-1 show significant reductions in Alzheimer’s patients, reflecting impaired tight-junction function in the blood–brain barrier. Abstract

General Background: Song lyrics function as cultural texts reflecting emotional experiences and symbolic representations of relationships. Specific Background: NIKI’s The Apartment We Won’t Share depicts romantic separation through narratives of emotional loss, identity change, and relational uncertainty. Knowledge Gap: Prior lyric studies mainly examine emotional themes without exploring unstable meaning formation through Jacques Derrida’s différance perspective. Aims: This study examines representations of relationship failure in NIKI’s lyrics using différance to identify shifting meanings. Results: The analysis shows that relationship failure is portrayed as a continuous process shaped by delayed meaning, lingering memories, and evolving emotional interpretation. Symbols such as the unshared apartment, unborn child, and post-breakup identity reflect prolonged experiences of loss. Binary oppositions including hope versus reality, desire versus necessity, and freedom versus attachment demonstrate unstable interpretations shaped by past relational experiences. Novelty: This study applies différance to interpret romantic separation as ongoing semantic deferral rather than emotional finality. Implications: The findings enrich literary and cultural studies by providing philosophical insight into contemporary song lyrics and expanding understanding of symbolic narrative ambiguity and emotional representation in popular music. Highlights: Romantic Separation Is Portrayed as Ongoing Meaning Reconstruction Rather Than Final Emotional Closure. Symbolic Lyrical Elements Represent Memory Persistence and Identity Uncertainty After Breakup. Binary Oppositions Reveal Continuous Semantic Ambiguity Within Relational Narratives. Abstract

General background: Illegal land occupation along riverbanks remains a persistent challenge in urban areas, threatening ecological functions and legal order. Specific background: In the Sepak Gabus River, Bekasi Regency, hundreds of buildings have been constructed without legal rights, violating Government Regulation in Lieu of Law No. 51 of 1960 and disrupting the river’s environmental capacity. Knowledge gap: Existing studies mainly adopt normative approaches, leaving limited empirical analysis on how legal enforcement, institutional capacity, and community dynamics interact in real implementation. Aims: This study examines the legal basis, enforcement mechanisms, and barriers faced by local government in addressing unlawful land occupation in riverbank areas. Results: Findings show that all structures lack valid land rights, while enforcement remains ineffective due to inconsistent implementation, limited relocation facilities, social resistance, weak coordination, and a permissive legal culture shaped by long-term state neglect. Novelty: This research integrates empirical field data with Roscoe Pound’s social engineering theory and Soekanto’s law-effectiveness framework to explain why regulatory enforcement fails in environmentally critical zones. Implications: Strengthening inter-agency coordination, ensuring adequate relocation support, and fostering legal awareness are essential to restore riverbank ecological functions and enhance sustainable land governance. Highlights: The study reveals that all riverbank structures lack legal land rights and constitute illegal occupation. Law enforcement remains weak due to limited facilities, inconsistent action, and community resistance. An integrated strategy is required to restore ecological functions and improve legal compliance. Abstract

General Background: Since the Reform Era, Indonesia has undergone extensive political and constitutional transformation that renewed demands to reorganize national governance through amendments to the 1945 Constitution. Specific Background: The re-emergence of constitutional amendment discourse after 27 years of Reform raises concerns about unstructured changes that may weaken constitutional authority and threaten national integrity. Knowledge Gap: Indonesia has not yet established explicit constitutional provisions identifying which foundational norms must remain unamendable. Aims: This study aims to formulate a normative framework for determining non-amendable constitutional provisions to ensure orderly amendments and preserve constitutional stability. Results: The findings show that the MPR must adopt fundamental agreements protecting the following from amendment: the Preamble, the state ideology, the goals of the state, the form of the state, the separation of powers under checks and balances, human rights guarantees, and procedures for constitutional amendment in emergencies. Comparative analysis shows that many countries, including Germany, France, Portugal, Spain, and Turkey, maintain similar immutable clauses. Novelty: This study offers a comprehensive normative construction of unamendable provisions within Indonesia’s constitutional framework. Implications: Explicitly regulating immutable constitutional clauses is essential to safeguard constitutional supremacy and prevent national disintegration. Highlights: Identifies core constitutional elements that must remain unamendable to preserve state integrity. Highlights the need for structured and principled constitutional amendment procedures. Shows that Indonesia aligns with global constitutional practices protecting foundational norms.
