Abstract

Anemia and neonatal jaundice are major contributors to infant mortality. This study investigates the effects of delayed umbilical cord clamping on neonatal hemoglobin levels and jaundice. Using a quasi-experimental posttest-only control design, 101 newborns were sampled and divided into immediate clamping (<3 minutes) and delayed clamping (>3 minutes) groups. Hemoglobin levels were measured within 24 hours, and jaundice was assessed on days 4-7. Results showed that delayed clamping significantly increased hemoglobin levels (P = 0.000) and reduced jaundice incidence (P = 0.010). The findings suggest that delayed clamping improves early infant health outcomes and should be adopted in health facilities. Highlight: Delayed clamping improves hemoglobin, reduces jaundice in newborns. Quasi-experimental design compares immediate vs. delayed cord clamping effects. Adopting delayed clamping enhances early infant health outcomes. Keyword: Anemia, neonatal jaundice, delayed cord clamping, hemoglobin levels, infant health

Abstract

This retrospective cohort study investigates the effectiveness of administering calcium and aspirin to pregnant women at risk of preeclampsia in reducing its incidence. Analyzing data from 143 pregnant women from January to December 2021, all subjects underwent preeclampsia risk screening. Chi-square analysis revealed a significant association (p < 0.001) between the consumption of calcium and aspirin and preeclampsia occurrence, with those receiving both supplements exhibiting a 3.8-fold decrease in incidence compared to those consuming calcium alone (OR: 3.8; 95% CI: 1.9-7.8). These findings underscore the potential of targeted supplementation with calcium and aspirin to mitigate preeclampsia risk, emphasizing the importance of early intervention in obstetric care. Highlight: Early intervention reduces preeclampsia risk. Statistical significance: calcium and aspirin association with preeclampsia. Targeted supplementation improves maternal health. Keyword: Preeclampsia, Calcium, Aspirin, Pregnancy, Prevention

Abstract

Hypnobirthing, a self-hypnosis practice aiding natural childbirth, lacks sufficient empirical evidence on its efficacy in mitigating labor pain, particularly during active phase I. This quasi-experimental study assessed hypnobirthing's effectiveness using a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design with 30 primi delivery mothers. Results indicated a significant reduction in pain levels (p = 0.000) among the hypnobirthing group compared to controls, emphasizing its potential as a non-pharmacological pain management tool. Integrating hypnobirthing into midwifery practice could enhance birthing experiences and mitigate risks associated with pathological labor, suggesting avenues for further research into its broader applicability and long-term effects. Highlight: Significant Pain Reduction: Hypnobirthing reduces active phase I labor pain significantly. Non-Pharmacological Tool: Effective alternative to pharmacological pain management during childbirth. Midwifery Practice: Enhances birthing experiences and reduces future pregnancy complications. Keywoard: Hypnobirthing, labor pain, active phase, quasi-experimental, midwifery

Abstract

This study investigated the effectiveness of curcuma (Curcuma longa) in increasing the body weight of underweight toddlers. Using a Pre-Experimental One Group Pretest-Posttest design, 20 underweight toddlers from Dharma Wanita Persatuan Gebang Kindergarten and TPA Al Ma’arif Sidoarjo were given 2.5 grams of curcuma mixed with water daily for two weeks. Body weight was measured before and after the intervention. The Paired Simple T-Test analysis showed a significant increase in body weight (p = 0.000). These results suggest that curcuma is an effective intervention for increasing body weight in underweight toddlers. Highlight: Administered curcuma to 20 underweight toddlers for two weeks. Significant weight gain observed (p = 0.000). Curcuma effective for increasing toddler body weight. Keyword: Underweight, Nutritional status, Toddlers, Curcuma, Body weight

Abstract

This study explores the use of IoT technology to enhance communication between Android smartphones and sumo robots, aiming to overcome the limited range of Bluetooth connections. By utilizing the NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller, the researchers achieved a connection speed of 4.6 seconds. Furthermore, the step-down circuit test with a 5Vdc power supply and the LiPo 3-cell battery test with a 12.54Vdc power supply yielded positive results. The Bts7960 driver was also successfully tested for clockwise and counterclockwise rotation. Finally, the maneuver test using the Blynk software showcased the robot's ability to respond to four commands—forward, backward, turn left, and turn right—via the IoT system. Highlights: Enhanced communication: Utilizing IoT technology enables improved communication between Android smartphones and sumo robots, expanding the range beyond the limitations of Bluetooth. Efficient connection: The implementation of the NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller achieves a speedy connection with a response time of 4.6 seconds, facilitating seamless remote control of the robot. Versatile maneuverability: With the Blynk software and IoT system, the sumo robot can execute four essential commands—forward, backward, turn left, and turn right—providing flexibility and control during operation Keywords: Sumo robot, IoT communication, Android smartphones, NodeMCU ESP8266, Blynk software.

Abstract

Development planning in developing countries still has a major role as a tool to encourage and control the development process more quickly and purposefully. The 2005-2024 RPJP states that one of the development missions is to realize a beautiful and sustainable Indonesia, and infrastructure development will lead to the concept of improving services for improving environmental quality in the future. In supporting economic and social activities in Sidoarjo Regency, it is necessary to improve good infrastructure facilities. The Sidoarjo district government made a policy for how access roads between villages and sub-districts are made with concrete road patterns. Concrete roads connecting villages and sub-districts can facilitate the flow of goods and people (increase mobility) by implementing efficient patterns of distribution services that can reach growth nodes. In this study using a qualitative research approach, with data analysis methods used to answer the first and second objectives used qualitative descriptive analysis. Highlights: Improved infrastructure: The concrete road development policy aims to enhance access between villages and sub-districts, facilitating the flow of goods and people, and improving mobility. Financial perspectives: The study explores the views of financiers regarding the concrete road development policy and its implications for funding and investment. Environmental considerations: The research investigates the environmental impacts of the concrete road development policy, focusing on sustainability and the concept of improving environmental quality in the region's future development. Keywords: Sidoarjo district government, concrete road development, financiers, environment, qualitative research.
