Abstract

This study underscores the untapped historical significance of the Lancang Kuning, a Pinisi type sailing ship, in the context of maritime trade within the Nusantara archipelago, and the implications it carries for global maritime historiography. By employing a comprehensive historical research methodology—encompassing heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography—we delve into verbal and object sources, followed by rigorous data triangulation. Our findings unearth that the Lancang Kuning, initially named La Suni, was constructed in 1860 by Laode Ntauale in Katilombu, Sampolawa, and later relocated to Riau in 1865 to bolster trade activities in Tanjung Buton. The ship's creation was necessitated by the need for a vessel capable of large-scale commodity transport beyond the Nusantara region. The ship significantly contributed to the prosperity of the creator's family, its crew, and the local community, with the management entrusted to its crew. However, the ship ceased to operate post Laode Ntauale's demise and was subsequently abandoned in Siak, Riau. This study accentuates the Lancang Kuning's pivotal role in regional trade, offering a nuanced understanding of maritime trade history, vital for global maritime scholars and policymakers. Highlights: Lancang Kuning, a Pinisi type sailing ship built in 1860, played a crucial role in enhancing maritime trade within the Nusantara region. The ship's construction was necessitated by the demand for large-scale commodity transport beyond the Nusantara archipelago. Post the demise of its creator, Laode Ntauale, the ship was abandoned, highlighting the transient nature of maritime trade mechanisms and their dependency on key individuals. Keywords: Buton's maritime culture, maritime history, Lancang Kuning ship, the history of the Butonese people

Abstract

This scientific article presents a novel approach to address the challenges of shoe drying by developing a controlled shoe drying system. The system utilizes a NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller with internet connectivity, enabling monitoring and control of the drying process via a smartphone application. By integrating temperature and humidity sensors, the system optimizes the drying time and prevents damage to shoe materials, thus ensuring the preservation of their quality. The research objectives were to enhance drying efficiency, reduce drying time, and maintain the integrity of shoe materials. Experimental methods involved the design and implementation of the system, followed by rigorous testing and evaluation. The results demonstrated significant improvements compared to conventional shoe dryers, reducing drying time from 1-2 days to an efficient duration. The implications of this research are profound, as the developed system offers a sustainable solution to shoe drying, contributing to the preservation of shoe materials and reducing wastage. The findings have relevance for the global footwear industry, with potential applications in shoe care services and consumer households alike. Highlights: Efficient shoe drying: The developed controlled system optimizes the drying process, reducing the drying time significantly compared to conventional methods. Material preservation: The integrated temperature and humidity control prevents damage to shoe materials, ensuring their quality and longevity. Smart technology application: The use of NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller with internet connectivity enables remote monitoring and control of the shoe drying system, enhancing convenience and accessibility. Abstract

This study investigated the relationship between nutritional status and menstrual cycle regularity in female adolescents at SMAN 4 Blitar. Using a cross-sectional analytic survey with 47 randomly selected respondents, data were collected through observation and interviews in January 2023. The Chi-Square test results showed no significant relationship (p = 0.16) between nutritional status and menstrual cycle regularity. The findings suggest that while most adolescents had regular cycles and normal nutrition, factors like stress, activity, and diet may also play a role. Educators should continue menstrual health education, and students should maintain balanced nutrition and healthy habits. Highlight: No significant link between nutrition and menstrual regularity (p = 0.16). Most teens had normal cycles and nutrition. Stress, activity, diet affect menstrual regularity. Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between diet, medical history, and nutritional status in 48 children aged 3-5 from Kindergarten Tegalasri Village, Blitar Regency. Using observational analysis with a cross-sectional approach, data on eating habits and medical records were collected. The results, analyzed using chi-square tests, indicated no significant correlation between diet or viral disease history and the children's nutritional status. These findings suggest that factors beyond diet and infections may play a more significant role in determining the nutritional status of children in this demographic, highlighting the need for further research and targeted interventions to promote better nutritional outcomes Highlight: Children's Nutrition: Diet and Medical History Impact on Well-being. Abstract

This study probes the legal safeguards available for children with disabilities subjected to sexual violence in Sidoarjo Regency, Indonesia, adopting a normative juridical approach. Using normative legal research methodologies, the data collection was conducted through document studies and legal document analysis concerning the legal protection of children and people with disabilities. The research unveiled that the Child Protection Law No. 35/2014 provides special regulations for the protection of children with disabilities, yet it does not explicitly address sexual violence. Conversely, the Disability Law No. 8 of 2016 expressly outlines the rights of disabled children against sexual abuse and their entitlement to education. The study also found congruity in the TPKS Law No. 12 of 2022, which stipulates the protection of disabled children subjected to sexual violence during legal proceedings. The results imply the potential for improved preventive measures, such as local regulations in Sidoarjo Regency addressing sexual violence against disabled children, proactive parental supervision, and a call for societal protection of these children. Furthermore, the implementation of strict sanctions as per applicable laws may provide a sense of justice for the victims.Highlights: Child Protection Law No. 35/2014 and Disability Law No. 8 of 2016 together address the protection of children with disabilities, albeit without explicit mention of sexual violence in the former. The TPKS Law No. 12 of 2022 provides a specific legal framework for the protection of disabled children who are victims of sexual violence during court proceedings. Preventive measures and stringent sanctions, as per these laws, could provide an enhanced sense of justice and security for victims, underscoring the necessity of societal vigilance and parental involvement. Abstract

This article aims to investigate the psychological features of high school students' readiness for family life by analyzing the results of the "Role Expectations and Claims in Marriage" (ROP) method developed by A.N. Volkova. The study shows that the well-being of the family largely depends on the degree of understanding by the spouses of their family roles, upon which relationships are built. The analysis of the ROP method results reveals that high school students have a significant gap in their understanding of family roles and expectations, which might affect their readiness for family life. The implications of this study highlight the importance of preparing high school students for family life by developing their understanding of family roles, which could lead to better family relationships and ultimately improve the well-being of the family as a whole. Highlights: Understanding of family roles is critical for building healthy family relationships. High school students often lack a clear understanding of family roles and expectations. The ROP method is an effective tool for assessing high school students' readiness for family life. Keywords: psychology, family roles, high school students, readiness, ROP method.
