Jurnal Bébasan (2721-4362 and 2406-7466) is a linguistic and literary scientific journal managed by Kantor Bahasa Provinsi Banten and Perkumpulan pengelola Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia serta Pengajarannya (PPJB-SIP). This journal is a cross-disciplinary publication for researchers from diverse language and literature backgrounds, focusing on multilingual and multicultural development. It covers macro-level topics such as ethnicity, education and nationalism, identity politics (including linguistics, literature, religion, and psychology), language and literature in cultures in contact, and the interconnections among language, culture, and religion. Jurnal Bébasan is dedicated to fostering vibrant interdisciplinary dialogue that transcends traditional academic boundaries, with a specific emphasis on advancing knowledge and understanding aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Jurnal Bébasan has been active since 2014 and has been integrated with the OJS system since 2019. Currently, Jurnal Bébasan has been accredited SINTA 4 (2019) by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, the Republic of Indonesia and SINTA 5 until 2026 and is currently in the re-accreditation assessment process held by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, the Republic of Indonesia Focus and Scope Jurnal Bébasan is a linguistic and literary scientific journal managed by Kantor Bahasa Provinsi Banten and Perkumpulan pengelola Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia serta Pengajarannya (PPJB-SIP). This journal is a cross-disciplinary journal for researchers from diverse scholars on language and literature backgrounds. This journal focuses on multilingual and multicultural development. Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out the effectiveness of using English pop songs toward students’ listening comprehension at the tenth grade of SMAN 5 Kota Serang. The population of this research was all the students of the tenth grade of SMAN 5 Kota Serang, and the sample were X Science 4 as experimental class and X Science 3 as control class. The researcher used quantitative method by implementing true experimental design.The instrument of research was the tests: pre and post test. The result of students’ average in pre-test were 45.17 for experimental and 46 for control class. The result of students’ average in post-test were 78 for experimental and 71.67 for control class. It can be concluded that using English pop songs was effective toward students’ listening and the teachers can use English pop songs a a media to overcome students’ difficulty in listening and improve their listening comprehension, too.

Abstract

Tujuan penulisan ini adalah untuk memberikan gambaran tentang penggunaan media audio visual dalam meningkatkan keterampilan siswa kelas VIII pada pembelajaran mendengarkan berita. Penggunaan metode audio visual serta teknik penggunaan media pembelajaran yang tepat dan sesuai dengan materi pembelajaran dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menyimak atau mendengarkan berita, khususnya dengan menggunakan media audio visual. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan media audio visual dapat meningkatkan keterampilan siswa dalam pembelajaran mendengarkan isi berita.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to find out the effectiveness of using cartoon movie toward students’ vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade of SMPN2 Kota Serang. The researcher used quantitative research by applying true experimental design for conducting the research. The population of this research was the seventh grade students of SMPN 2 Kota Serang. The sample of this research was the students of VII A as experimental class and VII B as control class. Each class consisted of 37 students. The classes were chosen by cluster random sampling from ten classes. In collecting the data, the researcher conducted pre-test and post-test. Pre-test was given to the classes before treatment. Then treatment was given only to experimental class for two meetings. Post-test was given to the classes after treatment. In analyzing the data, the researcher used T-test. The result of the calculation showed that is tcount (20.2) is higher than ttable (1.99). It means that null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and alterative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Therefore, cartoon movie is effective on the students’ vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade of SMPN 2 Kota Serang and one of the media which is can help the students in solving their problem in learning English vocabulary. In addition, cartoon movie can make the students enthusiastic, interested, and enjoy in learning English vocabulary.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out whether Randalls‟ ESL Cyber Listening Lab as a teaching media for listening is effective for students‟ listening comprehension at the eleventh grade of SMA PRISMA Kota Serang. The researcher used quantitative research by using true experimental design. The population of this research is all students at eleventh grade of SMA PRISMA Kota Serang. The sample were divided into 2 classes, they were XI IPS 1 as the experimental class and XI IPS 2 as a control class. Each group consists of 20 students. Then, the result showed the significance degree of 5%. The result was t_count > t_table (82.05 > 2.02), it means that the null hypothesis (H_o) is accepted. This indicates that Randalls‟ ESL Cyber Listening Lab is effective to be used as a media for students‟ listening comprehension at the eleventh grade of SMA PRISMA Kota Serang.

Abstract

Tulisan ini berupaya menjelaskan sosok Ibu yang bukan dari tubuh seorang ibu atau perempuan, akan tetapi sifat keibuan dapat juga dimiliki oleh seorang laki-laki. Sementara itu, Ayah tidak hanya merujuk pada laki-laki tetapi juga pada perempuan. Oleh karena itu, tidak dapat dipandang dalam sudut pandang anatomis-biologis semata, tetapi sebagai kesatuan antara Ibu-Ayah, yakni Ayah Imajiner. Dari keduanya membentuk ketidaksadaran semiotika manusia sehingga secara tidak langsung manusia akan mencoba mencari kenyamanan yang lebih dari yang telah didapatkan dari fungsi ibu. Sehingga subjek terus berproses mencari sesuatu yang lain agar dapat memaknai pengalaman pribadinya tersebut. Dalam novel Ayah yang ditulis Andrea Hirata menunjukkan adanya sifat keibuan dalam diri laki-laki dan sosok Ayah pada diri seorang perempuan sehingga anak mereka memiliki ketidaksadaran semiotika. Dengan melihat hal tersebut, dari teori semiotika revolusioner Kristeva diajukan dalam membedah novel tersebut. Dan didapati bahwa Zorro sebagai anak telah menyimpan pengalaman masa chora-nya pada kemeja, puisi, dan cerita. Dirinya pun tidak mengerti mengapa dia dapat bertindak sedemikian, tetapi hal tersebut membuatnya nyaman dan sosial memberikan kenyamanan tambahan dari ketidaksadaran semiotika-nya. Setelah dibahas panjang lebar, diasumsikan bahwa Zorro mengalami abjeksi yang penuh kenyamanan sebab fungsi maternal tidak dianggap kotor, jijik, dan berbahaya. Namun dibantu oleh figur Ayah Imajiner yang akhirnya Zorro mengenal bahasa dan sosial. Karena abjeksi yang menyenangkan, Zorro tidak dapat melupakan cinta, kehangatan, dan kasih sayang figur ibu padanya selamanya.

Abstract

Artikel ilmiah ini mengkaji rendahnya kemampuan siswa dalam kegiatan pembelajaran menulis karya ilmiah. Tujuan penulisan ini adalah mendeskripsikan penggunaan metode karyawisata dalam pembelajaran karya tulis ilmiah. Proses pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode studi kepustakaan. Data yang terkumpul diseleksi dan diurutkan sesuai dengan topik kajian. Kemudian dilakukan penyusunan karya tulis berdasarkan data yang telah dipersiapkan secara logis dan sistematis. Teknik analisis data bersifat deskriptif argumentatif. Rumusan masalah yang terdapat pada tulisan ini adalah bagaimanakah penggunaan metode karyawisata dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis karya ilmiah. Berdasarkan analisis data disimpulkan bahwa dengan menggunakan metode karya wisata dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menulis karya ilmiah. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, disarankan agar guru dapat menerapkan metode karya wisata untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis karya ilmiah kepada siswa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengungkap karakter manusia dalam antologi “Bulan Kebabian”. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori strukturalisme genetik yang dikemukakan oleh Goldmann dalam Faruk (2014) mengenai fakta kemanusiaan. Sumber data adalah antologi cerpen “Bulan Kebabian” (2015) yang diterbitkan oleh Bengkel Menulis dan Sastra (Belistra), Serang, Banten. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dan kepustakaan. Analisis data dilakukan pada tingkat kata dan jalinan kata-kata. Selanjutnya penafsiran untuk memperoleh pemahaman dan deskripsi kata dan susunan kalimat pada cerpen yang didahului dengan pembacaan, pemahaman, dan analisis cerpen. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah Pertama, keberpihakan tokoh „Ayah” pada materi mengakibatkan ia merelakan anak gadisnya menjadi TKW, meski pada akhirnya ia menyesal; Kedua, rasionalitas dan sikap realistis tokoh “Ia” mampu membangkitkannya dari keterpurukan dan kembali menatap masa depan bersama suami dan anak-anak; Ketiga, cinta pada sesama manusia memiliki signifikansi yang luar biasa bagi tokoh “Ia” dan “lelaki sungai itu” dalam berumah tangga.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out the influence of using finger puppet in teaching selective listening skill in narrative text at eight grade of SMP PGRI Kota Cilegon. The researcher used quantitative research by using true experimental design for conducting the research. The subject of this research used cluster random sampling, which consist of two classes. The experimental class was VIII A consist of 22 students and VIII B as control class with 23 students. The instrument of this research was test. The types of the instrument were pre-test and post-test that given to both class. Before giving pre-test and post-test, the researcher conducted try-out test in other class to know if the instrument that used in pre-test and post-test was valid and reliable as research instrument. In testing the hypothesis the researcher used t-test as formulas to find out the influence of using finger puppet in teaching selective listening skill in narrative text at eight grade of SMP PGRI Kota Cilegon. The result of this research, shown that by using finger puppet was 3,1739. It can be concluded that tcount ≥ ttable or 3,1739 ≥ 2,018.

Abstract

Listening becomes the first step in learning. Nation and Newton (2012 : 37) states that listening is the natural precursor to speaking; the early stages of language development in a person‘s first language. The objective of the research is to find out the influence of using podcast in teaching listening skill. In order to achieve the objective of this research, the researcher conducted the data through true experimental in quantitative approach. The researcher used cluster random sampling. The researcher took control class and experimental class for gathering the data to be analyzed. Based on the calculation, it was normally distributed and homogen. Based on the result of test of mean difference significant (independent ), it was Calculated or 0.33 2.01. The alternative hypothesis was received. It can be concluded that there was an influence of using podcast in teaching listening at tenth grade of SMAN 2 kota Serang.

Abstract

The use of preposition of time (at/on/in) still becomes problems for junior high school students. Therefore; it is important to conduct the research on the ability of using preposition of time. This study aims at finding out the students‘ level of ability and describing the problems faced by the students in using preposition of time. The descriptive qualitative method was applied in this research. The instrument was a test. The subject was the second class students of SMP Kristen Kefamenanu. In data analyses, there were four steps; categorizing, tabulating, analyzing and describing. The result showed that the students‘ average score in preposition of time is 67.33 at average level. The highest number of students is at average level and between 60-69 with the total student is twelve. The data showed that the students‘ average score in preposition AT is 66 at average level. The students‘ average score in preposition ON is 68.5 at average level. The students‘ average score in preposition IN is 67.5 at average level. It indicates that the preposition of AT is very difficult for students while preposition ON is more easy for them.
