Abstract

PT. Harta Mulia, Blitar is a robusta coffee producer. The company faces challenges in meeting production targets due to various factors, such as sales fluctuations and raw material procurement that does not align with production plans. This study aims to analyze supply chain performance and propose strategies to improve the management of the robusta coffee supply chain at PT. Harta Mulia, Blitar. The methods used in this study include the Supply Chain Operation Reference (SCOR) analysis and the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). SCOR and AHP analysis were employed to measure and evaluate the performance of the robusta coffee supply chain at PT. Harta Mulia, Blitar. The study found that the supply chain performance scored 88,72 which falls into the average category. A strategy companies can implement to elevate their supply chain performance to the "excellent" category is to focus on several Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), namely production planning, material planning, supplier on-time delivery performance, and product replacement time. This is because these indicators currently fall below the overall supply chain performance benchmark, making it crucial to prioritize them through the use of demand-driven methods and production planning adjustments to improve production planning, digitizing raw material tracking and establishing agreements with suppliers for material planning, seeking alternative suppliers that meet company standards to avoid reliance on a single supplier to address supplier on-time delivery performance, and tightening quality control (QC) while maintaining ready-to-ship inventory as a solution to product replacement time challenges

Abstract

Fish nuggets are a popular processed food product due to their high nutritional value and convenience. This study aimed to determine the effect of cooking method and duration on the chemical and organoleptic characteristics of nuggets made from *Pangasius hypophthalmus* (Siamese catfish). A factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) was employed, involving two treatment factors: cooking method (boiling and steaming) and cooking duration (25, 45, and 65 minutes). The parameters observed included protein content, moisture content, color, aroma, taste, and springiness. The results indicated that both cooking method and duration significantly affected the protein content, moisture content, and organoleptic characteristics of the catfish nuggets. Steaming for 25 minutes (P2W1) yielded the highest protein content (21.80%) and the lowest moisture content (47.639%), as well as the highest scores for color (4.32), aroma (3.88), and taste (4.40). The highest springiness score (3.96) was obtained with the 45-minute steaming treatment (P2W2). Steaming for 25 minutes was identified as the optimal treatment for producing catfish nuggets with the best nutritional quality and sensory acceptance.

Abstract

Studies on the population and species composition of fruit flies on bird's eye chili plants are still needed to support more effective control efforts. This study aimed to examine the population abundance and species diversity of fruit flies (Bactrocera spp.) associated with bird's eye chili (Capsicum frutescens L.) and to identify the most effective trapping method at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. Observations were conducted over eight weeks using various trapping methods, with parameters including species diversity, species dominance, and species evenness. The data obtained were analyzed using ANOVA followed by DMRT at the 5% significance level. The study successfully collected 6,689 fruit fly individuals representing three species: Bactrocera dorsalis, B. carambolae, and B. umbrosa. B. dorsalis was the most abundant species, accounting for 4,474 individuals (67%) across all trapping methods, followed by B. carambolae (1,607 individuals) and B. umbrosa (608 individuals). Analysis of variance and DMRT (5%) revealed significant differences among trap types: the Yellow Sticky Trap yielded the highest catch, with an average of 206 individuals per week, compared to the Methyl Eugenol Trap (70 individuals per week) and the sweep net (2 individuals per week). These results indicate that the Yellow Sticky Trap has the potential to serve as a key component in environmentally friendly fruit fly monitoring and control strategies for bird's eye chili cultivation. Consequently, the use of Yellow Sticky Traps could be a valuable component of eco-friendly fruit fly management strategies in horticultural cultivation systems.

Abstract

Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is a horticultural commodity widely cultivated using hydroponics due to its economic value and relatively short harvest cycle. However, hydroponic lettuce remains susceptible to insect pest infestations that can reduce both yield quality and quantity. Information regarding the types of pests, infestation levels, and damage symptoms affecting hydroponic lettuce at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang, remains limited; thus, field data is required to inform pest management strategies. This study aimed to identify insect pests and determine their infestation levels on hydroponic lettuce plants at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang. The research was conducted between October and December 2025 using a survey method with purposive sampling. The study sample consisted of two lettuce plants monitored over four observation sessions. Direct observations were made to detect the presence of pests and symptoms of plant damage. Collected insects were identified based on morphological characteristics using taxonomic keys. Infestation levels were calculated using the formula: IS = (number of infested plants / total number of observed plants) × 100%. The results revealed the presence of aphids (Aphis sp.) and red spider mites (Tetranychus urticae). Aphids were the dominant pest, with an infestation level of 50%, while T. urticae showed an infestation level of 25%. Observed symptoms included leaf yellowing and stunted growth. The findings indicate that pest presence is associated with environmental conditions and crop sanitation. These data can serve as a basis for implementing integrated pest management in hydroponic lettuce cultivation.

Abstract

Acydic dryland is a type of marginal land characterized by low soil fertility, low organic matter content, and high soil acidity, which can constrain soybean growth and yield. The utilization of pinneapple leaf compost as a locally available organic matter source to improve acydic dryland conditions and support soybean growth and yield at different application rates, as well as to identify the rate providing the most favorable agronomic response, has received limited attention. This study aimed to analyze the effects of pinneapple leaf compost application rates on soil pH, soybean (Glycine max L.) growth, and yield in acidic dryland. A field experiment was conducted using a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of six treatments: N1 = 1 t ha⁻¹, N2 = 2 t ha⁻¹, N3 = 3 t ha⁻¹, N4 = 4 t ha⁻¹, N5 = 5 t ha⁻¹, and N6 = 6 t ha⁻¹ of pinneapple leaf compost, with each treatment replicated four times, resulting in 24 experimental units. The parameters observed included soil pH, plant height (cm), number of productive branches (branches), root volume (mL), pod weight per plant (g), pod weight per plot (kg), and 100-seed weight (g). The results showed statistically,that pinneapple leaf compost application did not significantly affect soil pH, soybean growth, or yield in acydic dryland. However, descriptively, the highest values for all observed variables were obtained with the application of 5 t ha⁻¹ (N5). Although the treatment was not statistically different from the other treatments, the 5 t ha⁻¹ rate consistently produced the highest values for soil pH, plant height, number of productive branches, root volume, pod weight per plant, pod weight per plot, and 100-seed weight. The highest yield was indicated by a pod weight of 1.89 kg plot⁻¹, equivalent to 9.45 t ha⁻¹.

Abstract

Limited seed due to low reproductive performance of the parent is still an obstacle in the cultivation of betok fish (Anabas testudineus). The use of natural phytohormones based on herbal ingredients has the potential to be a safe and environmentally friendly alternative to increase fish reproduction. This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of various herbal ingredients on the reproductive performance of betok fish and determine the best herbal ingredients based on the gonad maturity level (TKG) and gonad maturity index (IKG). The research was carried out in the aquaculture wet laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Muhammadiyah University, Palembang for 45 days with 4 treatments and 3 repetitions, P1: Treatment with turmeric extract, P2: Treatment with katuk leaf extract, P3: Treatment with papaya leaf extract and P4: Treatment with sprout/bean sprout extract. The research results showed that natural phytohormone supplementation based on herbal ingredients provided a positive response to the reproductive performance of betok fish (Anabas testudineus). Sprout/bean sprout extract is the best treatment in increasing growth, gonad maturity level, and gonad maturity index, while papaya leaf extract produces the highest fecundity. All treatments resulted in a 100% survival rate and did not reduce the water quality of the rearing media. Thus, herbal ingredients have the potential to be used as a natural alternative to increase the reproduction of betok fish in sustainable cultivation activities.

Abstract

The reliability of the Black Bunch Census (BBC) for production estimation is influenced by sampling-unit distribution and between-row variability. Precision information is needed to assess stability when census-row composition changes. This study evaluated between-block heterogeneity, between-row variability, mean precision, and census-row adequacy in six mature oil palm blocks in Banyuasin. A total of 1,010 numeric observations from 1,082 palm records were analyzed. Actual zeros were retained, whereas abnormal and dead-palm codes were excluded. The primary inferential units were 34 census rows. Analyses included a row-level Kruskal-Wallis test, Dunn-Holm comparisons, variance decomposition, a 20,000-replicate cluster bootstrap, stability assessment across all observed-row combinations, and age-stratum post-stratification for Block 41B. Between-block differences remained significant at the row level (H(5)=19.440; p=0.0016), although only Blocks 41B and 42B differed after Holm adjustment (p=0.019). Within-row palm variation accounted for 81.47% of total variability, compared with 11.71% between blocks and 6.82% between rows within blocks. The within-block palm-level standard deviation ranged from 1.786 to 2.682 bunches per palm. The relative confidence-interval half-width for Block 41B was 12.65%, while Block 41C was represented by only two rows. Unequal age-stratum sampling in Block 41B reduced the population-weighted mean to 5.895 bunches per palm, 4.67% below the unweighted sample mean. Within these six blocks and one observation period, BBC representativeness depended on row distribution and stratum composition rather than sampled-palm count.

Abstract

The development of community-based inland aquaculture in Southeast Asia requires learning from local practices that successfully integrate production, institutional arrangements, value chains, and policy support. However, such practices need to be systematically assessed to identify principles that can be adapted to the ecological, social, institutional, and market contexts of other locations. This study assessed Kampung Patin in Kampar Regency, Indonesia, as a community-based inland aquaculture and value-chain practice with potential relevance for policy learning in Southeast Asia. A qualitative case-study design was applied through a purposive review of government documents, official publications, and academic literature. Nine indicators were examined: resources and commodities, policy governance, community institutions, value-chain integration, government support, economic sustainability, women’s participation, adaptive learning potential, and ecological sustainability. The findings showed strong performance in production, value-chain integration, policy support, and multilevel collaboration. Institutional capacity, economic resilience, and women’s participation remained uneven; adaptive learning potential was moderate, while ecological sustainability could not be assessed because case data were insufficient. Therefore, Kampung Patin is more appropriately understood as a documented local practice rather than as a model that can be directly replicated. Its regional value lay in principles that could be adapted to the ecological, institutional, market, and social conditions of recipient locations.
