Abstract

Abstract In Romans 9: 1-29, The apostle Paul shows God’s comprehensive purpose in history, through His sovereignty in salvation. Through this comprehensive purpose, both all things that related to evil will be punished and all things related to justification by faith will be saved. This article wants to show God as  a derivation (Greek: ‘drawing out’) of man and not man as a derivation of God so that God has purpose from His election of man. This study emphasized Paul’s theology from  John Calvin’s perspective with the neo orthodox perspective of Karl Barth, through his principle of continuity that allows potential salvation for all humans, through Christ. This article will discuss who is meant by God’s choice. There are at least three major views  of interpretation of God’s choice: 1) Israel as a nation, 2) Jesus Christ the only one who is chosen, 3) every individual who believes in Jesus is chosen by God (the church). This article does not discuss the first point above, but limits the explanation to the second and third point only, this article describes the different views of Karl Barth and John Calvin regarding predestination.

Abstract

Abstract In Indonesia, the power of the Spirit is still a consistent theme in pentecostal-charismatic spirituality. This kind of dominance of the power of the Spirit is feared to give rise to spiritual inequality by ignoring other persons in the Trinity. This article argues that pentecostal charismatics must see the Trinity as the primary locus without losing their particularity and Spirit. This study shows that being based on the Trinity will increase discernment in pentecostal-charismatic spirituality. Discussing the Triadic Methodology of Amos Yong and the imaginative-constructive neologism called Impressionism-Expressionism are comparative steps taken to support this study. Through dialogue between the two, this research has succeeded in showing that placing the Trinity as the primary locus will not eliminate the particularity of spirituality but will add to the theological richness of pentecostal-charismatic spirituality.

Abstract

Abstract Liminal periods, the transitional phase between two stable states, are often marked by uncertainty, confusion, and identity crises. In the context of spiritual life, liminality is not only a challenge but also an opportunity for faith growth. This study highlights the importance of resilience—the ability to endure, recover, and move forward—as a faith response to times of transition, drawing on narratives in the book of Acts. Through an analysis of several key events, such as the waiting for the Holy Spirit, the persecution of the early church, the conversion of Saul, and the Jerusalem Council, it is clear that the disciples' resilience arose not from personal strength, but from the encouragement of the Holy Spirit and the strength of the community. This study affirms that resilience is a crucial element in both individual and collective faith journeys, especially when standing between what is past and what is future. Therefore, the church today is called to cultivate spiritual resilience to remain relevant and thrive in a changing world. In the book of Acts, resilience is manifested in the extraordinary perseverance of faith of the apostles and the early church in the face of pressure, persecution, and hardship in order to spread the gospel. This resilience is driven by the power of the Holy Spirit and a firm belief in God's plan of salvation.

Abstract

Abstract Christian Religious Education (PAK) in elementary schools plays a crucial role in shaping students' understanding and Christian values. Moreover, PAK is not only about transferring knowledge but also fostering students' ability to think critically by responding to and applying Christian values. This study explores how the implementation of a project-based learning (PjBL) model can improve critical thinking skills in five fourth-grade students in PAK learning, focusing on identifying themes related to the fourth-grade material, lesson 12, "ME and MY ENVIRONMENT." This study also employed a qualitative action research method. The research design was a classroom action research (CAR) study, consisting of two cycles, each with two meetings. Furthermore, the instruments used were participatory observation during the implementation of project-based learning, in-depth analysis of project results (presentations, tests), and semi-structured interviews with several informants and documents. Thus, this study provides in-depth insights into how project-based learning can improve students' critical thinking skills, particularly in the context of Christian Religious Education at the elementary school level. Abstract

Generation Alpha is a generation group born and developed amidst the rapid advancement of the digital world, where technological developments, globalization, and information flow very quickly. This situation makes this generation superior in mastering technology, but at the same time faces them with serious challenges, such as moral and spiritual crises, and loss of identity. This study aims to describe the role of Christian Religious Education (PAK) in guiding Generation Alpha to live under the light of God's word as stated in Psalm 119:105, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." The research method applied is descriptive, qualitative, by examining biblical texts, Christian educational theories, and the distinctive characteristics of Generation Alpha. The research findings show that PAK has an important and strategic role in helping Generation Alpha distinguish between the path of light and the path of darkness in their lives. First, PAK places God's word as a guide for life in the midst of a digital world filled with the influence of secularism and moral relativism. Second, Christian Education (PAK) serves to shape Christian character rooted in love, honesty, discipline, and social concern, so that this generation is not only intellectually superior but also spiritually mature. Third, PAK strengthens the defense of faith, so that Generation Alpha can face the negative impacts of technology and remain steadfast in Christ. Fourth, PAK guides them to be a light to others, by displaying God's love and truth in their daily lives in the modern world. Thus, it can be concluded that PAK plays a crucial role in guiding Generation Alpha so that they do not fall into the darkness of the digital age, but rather live as bearers of Christ's light. God's Word needs to be applied concretely in all aspects of education and life, so that Generation Alpha can develop into a generation steadfast in faith, with Christ-like character, and able to positively influence their environment.

Abstract

Drug abuse severely damages all aspects of human life, including physical, biological, psychological, and social well-being. The significant impacts on drug users include disability, economic loss, and even death. Observations indicate that the destructive impact of drug use in Indonesia reaches approximately 3 million people and should be addressed seriously. Therefore, the widespread role of Christian counselors is essential. The research used an applied research method, in which researchers solve practical problems. Applied research is a methodology based on utility. This research focuses more on solving practical problems. Solving problems based on real-life events in the social environment. In fact, biblical psychological treatment is highly recommended. Another tendency of drug influence is xenophobia, which is an excessive (irrational) fear of something foreign or foreign customs. Professional psychological treatment built on a humanitarian (humanist) basis, a strong belief in the capabilities of the human person, is not recommended. This means that our psychological theory and practice must align with biblical truth. Because humanistic psychology cannot be replaced by Christianity, but must be integrated with biblical ideas. Christian psychologists and/or Christian counselors are strongly advised to have a commitment and dependence on the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit. This should be recommended by doctors, medical personnel, and facilitators, so that treatment is holistically complete; freeing oneself from the power of sin, the bondage of drug addiction, and transforming into godly people.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has profoundly transformed how children think, behave, learn, and interact with their surroundings. Within the field of Christian faith education—particularly in the context of Sunday School—this transformation presents both challenges and opportunities. Grounded in 2 Timothy 3:14–15 and Mark 10:13–16, this study argues that faith formation must begin early through genuine engagement with Scripture and a personal encounter with Christ. The Apostle Paul emphasizes that faith is rooted in the Scriptures introduced during childhood, while Jesus’ acceptance of children reveals God’s inclusive love and the significance of childlike faith in the Kingdom of God. In the digital era, traditional methods such as memorization and lecturing have become insufficient. Therefore, theological education must be re-envisioned by integrating digital media as a creative, participatory, and contextual means of proclaiming the Gospel. Viewing technology not as a distraction but as a pedagogical partner enables Sunday School to nurture faith, shape character, and deepen children’s relationship with Christ. Ultimately, technology functions not as a threat to faith but as a pastoral and theological instrument that fosters spiritual transformation amid the complexities of the digital age.
