Abstract

Poverty is a complex issue influenced by economic and social factors, affecting individuals' ability to fulfill basic needs, participate in society, and maintain health. This study analyzes the impact of consumption, education, health, and population growth on poverty in Bali Province. The research comprises 72 observations from eight regencies and one city over the period 2016–2023. Data is collected through non- behavioral observation methods, including the review of books, articles, journals, and official documents from institutions such as the Central Bureau of Statistics. Quantitative analysis is employed to process the data. The findings reveal that consumption and education have a negative and significant effect on poverty, indicating that higher consumption and better education levels contribute to poverty reduction. Conversely, health has a positive and significant effect, suggesting that increased health indicators correlate with higher poverty levels. Meanwhile, population growth negatively influences poverty but lacks statistical significance. These findings underscore the importance of policies that promote local product empowerment, expand access to education, address the needs of the elderly, and ensure equitable income distribution. Such measures are essential to enhancing economic stability and mitigating the factors that contribute to poverty.

Abstract

Economic and social inequality is an issue that has been increasingly observed in recent decades, with significant impacts on economic growth and social stability. This literature analysis explores global inequality trends, identifies its main causes, and evaluates proposed solutions to address the problem. Factors such as globalisation, technological development, unfair government policies, and discrimination contribute to the widening gap between rich and poor groups. Meanwhile, potential solutions include progressive tax reform, improved access to education and healthcare, decent job creation, and stronger labour protection. By adopting a comprehensive and integrative approach, the right policies can help reduce inequality and promote more equitable welfare in society.

Abstract

The implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation in the public and private sectors, highlighting the benefits as well as the challenges it faces. Studies show that the implementation of AI and automation can improve operational efficiency, accuracy, and personalisation of services in various sectors. In the public sector, these technologies help speed up administrative processes, predict community needs, and optimise resources. On the other hand, the private sector is adopting AI to improve productivity, design personalised customer experiences, and support business decisions with in-depth data analysis. However, the study also identified significant challenges, including limitations in technology adoption, gaps in access and expertise, and ethical and privacy issues. Addressing these challenges requires collaboration between stakeholders to develop policies that support workforce retraining, data regulation, and ethical frameworks. With the right approach, AI and automation have the potential to have a broad and sustainable positive impact on social and economic well-being in both the public and private sectors.

Abstract

Social and economic inequality is a global issue that has a significant impact on many aspects of life, including health, education and economic stability. This research aims to review the literature on policies and interventions implemented around the world to address this inequality. The literature review shows that inequality is often caused by unfair economic policies, unequal income distribution, and limited access to fundamental services such as education and health. In addition, neoliberal policies and the effects of globalisation have exacerbated economic inequality between developed and developing countries. Various strategies have been implemented to reduce inequality, such as income redistribution through progressive taxation, social assistance programmes, and improved access to education and health services. The findings of this study emphasise the importance of a multidimensional approach and cross-sectoral cooperation in designing and implementing effective policies to reduce social and economic inequality globally.

Abstract

A country's economic well-being can be assessed through its economic development. Economic development in a specific region can be measured by its economic growth. In this study, economic growth is indicated by the influence of Regional Own-Source Revenue (PAD), capital expenditure, and the Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK). This research aims to determine (1) the simultaneous and partial effects of PAD, capital expenditure, and TPAK on economic growth, and (2) the dominant variable influencing economic growth. The data used in this study consists of secondary time series data from 2018 to 2023 across nine regencies/cities in Bali Province. Data analysis was conducted using panel data regression with the assistance of the Eviews 12 software. The results show that PAD, capital expenditure, and TPAK collectively influence economic growth in the nine regencies/cities in Bali Province during 2018–2023. PAD and capital expenditure have a positive and significant effect on economic growth in these areas. Meanwhile, TPAK also has a positive but statistically insignificant effect on economic growth. PAD is identified as the dominant variable influencing economic growth in the nine regencies/cities in Bali Province during 2018–2023. This study implies that local governments need to strengthen strategies to increase PAD through revenue innovations, strategically manage capital expenditure to promote key sectors such as tourism and MSMEs, and enhance the quality and productivity of the workforce to support more inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

Abstract

Aims: The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of risk and quality perceptions on cosmetic sample use and purchase conversion rate among Korean adult women. Methods: An online survey was conducted among 433 Korean adult women in their 20s to 50s. The survey collected data on the consumers' risk perception, quality perception, sample usage rate, and actual purchase conversion rate about cosmetic samples. Results: The results indicate that risk perception of cosmetic samples has a negative effect on quality perception and sample usage rate. However, quality perception has a positive effect on sample usage rate and actual purchase conversion rate. Furthermore, the study found that the sample usage rate has a positive effect on actual purchase conversion rate. Conclusions: Future research could expand the scope to include other demographic groups or cultural contexts. Cosmetic companies can use these findings to design more effective free sample promotions that address customers' risk perceptions while enhancing their quality perceptions. This study may contribute to improving customer satisfaction and loyalty in the cosmetics industry by providing insights into how cosmetic companies can effectively use free samples as a sales promotion tool.

Abstract

Children’s development is a crucial factor in achieving the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045, particularly in fostering globally competitive human resources. One of the main challenges in realizing this vision is the high prevalence of wasting and stunting among children in Indonesia. As of 2023, the stunting prevalence in Indonesia recorded at 21.5%, indicating persistent issues with chronic malnutrition. Additionally, the wasting rate among children increased from 7.7% in 2022 to 8.5% in 2023. This research answers the question of how mother’s education can improving children's development. The research method uses quantitative analysis involving secondary data obtained from 2014 IFLS data. For the first equation, the dependent variable is stunting, measured by the height of children aged 0-5 years. For the second equation, the dependent variable is the weight of children aged 0-5 years. To ensure that the effects observed in the study are due to the independent variables of interest and not influenced by other external factors, we use some control variables, such as direct cash assistance, household income, waste management, number of household members, distance from home to healthcare facilities, area of residence (rural/urban), and ethnicity (Javanese/non-Javanese). The results of the analysis show that the mother’s education have significant and positive impact on height and weight of the children. Apart from that, the control variables of direct cash assistance, household waste management, and place of residence also have a positive effect on children's height as well as children weight. And house hold size have significant and negative relationship to height and weight of the children. This analysis shows the importance of mother’s education. Increasing mother's educational attainment can help increase family access, especially their children, to healthy nutrition, health services, hygiene and education, all of which can contribute to reducing stunting in children. There for, policy steps that support women's empowerment, such as increasing access to education and the economy for women as a mother for now and future need to be prioritized to reduce wasting and stunting of children in Indonesia.

Abstract

Indonesia's dependence on the United States Dollar in international trade poses a significant threat to the stability of the Rupiah exchange rate. To reduce reliance on the U.S. Dollar, Bank Indonesia introduced the Local Currency Settlement (LCS) policy in collaboration with four partner countries: Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, and China. This study aims to analyze the impact of Local Currency Settlement implementation (D1), exports (X1), imports (X2), and inflation rate (X3) on the probability of Rupiah exchange rate stability. The research employs a logistic regression method and utilizes secondary data spanning the period from 2012 to 2023. The findings indicate that the implementation of Local Currency Settlement increases the likelihood of an unstable Rupiah exchange rate compared to the pre-implementation period. Exports contribute to a higher probability of Rupiah exchange rate stability. Conversely, imports and inflation rates increase the likelihood of exchange rate instability.
