Abstract

Stock price volatility in the technology sector has become an important concern for investors due to the sector’s high uncertainty, rapid business transformation, and sensitivity to economic changes. Understanding the financial factors that influence stock price fluctuations is therefore essential for improving investment decision-making and risk assessment. This research investigates the influence of financial performance, leverage, and earning volatility on the stock price volatility of technology companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2022–2024 period. A quantitative causal approach was employed using secondary data obtained from annual financial statements and stock market data. The sample consisted of 23 technology companies selected through purposive sampling, resulting in 69 observations. Multiple linear regression analysis was applied after fulfilling the classical assumption tests. The findings indicate that financial performance, proxied by Return on Assets (ROA), has a negative but insignificant relationship with stock price volatility, while leverage, measured by Debt to Equity Ratio (DER), shows a positive but insignificant effect. In contrast, earning volatility demonstrates a positive and statistically significant influence on stock price volatility. Simultaneously, the three independent variables significantly affect stock price volatility, although the explanatory power of the model remains relatively limited. These findings provide additional empirical evidence regarding signaling theory in the context of emerging capital markets and highlight earning volatility as a key consideration for investors when evaluating technology-sector stocks characterized by high uncertainty and dynamic business environments.

Abstract

Teacher readiness is a crucial aspect in preparing prospective educators who are capable of responding to the demands of contemporary education. However, preliminary observations among Office Administration Education students at Universitas Negeri Medan indicated that a considerable proportion of students had not yet demonstrated adequate readiness to enter the teaching profession. Learning experiences obtained through the Micro Teaching course and the Introduction to School Field (PLP) program are considered important factors in strengthening pedagogical competence and professional preparedness. Using a quantitative ex-post facto approach, data were collected from 63 students of the 2022 cohort through a total sampling technique and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The findings revealed that both Micro Teaching and PLP contributed positively and significantly to teacher readiness, both partially and simultaneously. Micro Teaching showed a stronger contribution than PLP in influencing students’ readiness to become teachers. The coefficient of determination value of 86.6% indicates that the two variables jointly explain most of the variation in teacher readiness, while the remaining proportion is influenced by other factors beyond the scope of this research. These findings reinforce the importance of integrating teaching practice and field-based learning experiences in teacher education programs to enhance professional preparedness and support the development of competent future educators.

Abstract

The high unemployment rate among vocational high school graduates indicates that entrepreneurial interest remains a critical issue requiring empirical investigation. Previous studies have generally examined entrepreneurship knowledge, digital literacy, and entrepreneurial mindset separately, while limited evidence explains their simultaneous contribution to entrepreneurial interest among vocational students within the framework of the Theory of Planned Behavior. Addressing this gap, the present research investigates the influence of entrepreneurship knowledge, digital literacy, and entrepreneurial mindset on the entrepreneurial interest of Grade XI students at SMKS Budi Agung Medan in the 2025/2026 academic year. A quantitative explanatory approach was employed using a survey design involving 99 respondents selected from a population of 130 students through proportionate stratified random sampling based on the Slovin formula. Data were collected using questionnaires and school documentation, then analyzed through multiple linear regression with SPSS version 29 following validity, reliability, and classical assumption testing. The findings reveal that entrepreneurship knowledge (β = 0.340; p = 0.001), digital literacy (β = 0.301; p = 0.001), and entrepreneurial mindset (β = 0.153; p = 0.001) each exert a positive and significant effect on entrepreneurial interest. Simultaneously, the three variables significantly influence entrepreneurial interest (F = 29.396; p < 0.001) and explain 46.5% of its variance (Adjusted R² = 0.465). These findings reinforce the Theory of Planned Behavior by demonstrating that cognitive competence, digital capability, and entrepreneurial mindset collectively strengthen students' entrepreneurial intentions while providing practical implications for entrepreneurship education in vocational schools.

Abstract

Entrepreneurial interest among university students has become an important concern in supporting the development of young entrepreneurs capable of creating employment opportunities. Entrepreneurship education and the rapid growth of social media, particularly TikTok, are considered strategic factors in strengthening students' entrepreneurial intentions. This research employed a quantitative ex-post facto approach involving 63 Business Education students of the 2022 cohort at the Faculty of Economics, Universitas Negeri Medan, selected through total sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and academic documentation, then analyzed through multiple linear regression, t-test, F-test, coefficient of determination, and classical assumption tests using SPSS version 25. The findings indicate that entrepreneurship courses have a positive and significant influence on entrepreneurial interest. TikTok social media usage also demonstrates a positive and significant contribution to students' entrepreneurial interest. Simultaneously, both variables significantly explain entrepreneurial interest with an Adjusted R Square value of 0.474, indicating that 47.4% of the variation in entrepreneurial interest is explained by the proposed model, while the remainder is influenced by other factors. These findings reinforce the importance of integrating entrepreneurship learning with productive digital media utilization to foster entrepreneurial mindsets among university students. The study contributes empirical evidence regarding the complementary role of entrepreneurship education and digital platforms in supporting entrepreneurship development within higher education.

Abstract

Readiness to become a professional teacher is influenced by academic experience, perceptions of the teaching profession, and internal motivation developed during teacher education. Previous studies have generally examined these factors separately, while limited evidence has explored their combined contribution among Business Education students participating in the School Field Introduction Program (PLP) 2. Employing a quantitative ex post facto approach, the research involved all 63 students of the 2022 Business Education cohort at Universitas Negeri Medan through total sampling. Data were collected using validated Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression after fulfilling the classical assumption tests. The findings demonstrate that participation in PLP 2, positive perceptions of the teaching profession, and learning motivation each exert a positive and statistically significant influence on students' readiness to become teachers. Simultaneously, the three independent variables significantly explain variations in teacher readiness, with a coefficient of determination of 58.8%, indicating that the proposed model accounts for more than half of the observed readiness, while the remaining variance is associated with other factors beyond the scope of this research. These findings emphasize the importance of strengthening field teaching experiences, fostering positive professional perceptions, and enhancing student motivation as integrated strategies to improve the quality of prospective teachers. The study contributes empirical evidence supporting the development of teacher education programs that integrate pedagogical practice with professional and motivational development.

Abstract

The rapid growth of capital market investors in Indonesia has not been accompanied by a proportional increase in investment participation among university students, indicating the persistence of psychological and social barriers that influence investment decisions. Previous studies have reported inconsistent findings regarding the effects of risk perception and the bandwagon effect on investment interest, highlighting the need for further investigation within the context of Business Education students. Using a quantitative ex post facto approach, data were collected from all 85 students of the 2024 Business Education cohort at Universitas Negeri Medan through a total sampling technique. Responses obtained from Likert-scale questionnaires were analyzed using multiple linear regression, including t-tests, F-tests, and coefficient of determination analysis. The findings reveal that risk perception has a negative and significant effect on investment interest, whereas the bandwagon effect positively and significantly influences students' willingness to invest. Simultaneously, both variables explain 44.8% of the variation in investment interest, indicating that psychological considerations and social influence jointly shape students' investment intentions. These findings contribute to the development of the Theory of Planned Behavior in investment behavior research by demonstrating the complementary roles of internal attitudes and subjective social norms. The results also provide practical implications for universities and capital market institutions in designing financial literacy programs and investment education strategies that reduce perceived risk while fostering a positive investment environment among students

Abstract

Digital literacy and learning motivation have become essential factors in improving students' academic achievement, particularly in vocational education, where technology integration and independent learning are increasingly emphasized. Although digital technologies are widely accessible, differences in students' abilities to evaluate digital information critically and maintain learning motivation continue to influence learning outcomes. This research employed a quantitative ex post facto design involving 67 tenth-grade students of the Online Business and Marketing Program at SMK Negeri 1 Medan using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through validated questionnaires measuring digital literacy and learning motivation, supported by documentation of students' vocational basic subject scores. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, t-tests, F-tests, and coefficient of determination (R²). The findings demonstrate that digital literacy and learning motivation positively and significantly affect students' learning outcomes both individually and simultaneously. The regression analysis indicates that students with stronger operational, critical thinking, collaboration, and digital awareness skills, accompanied by higher learning motivation, tend to achieve better academic performance. The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.763) reveals that both variables explain 76.3% of the variation in learning outcomes, while the remaining percentage is influenced by other factors beyond the scope of this research. These findings reinforce the importance of strengthening digital literacy competencies and sustaining students' learning motivation to improve vocational learning quality and educational achievement in the digital era.

Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has transformed learning practices in higher education by expanding access to information, supporting idea generation, and facilitating academic problem-solving. However, the effectiveness of AI-assisted learning is strongly influenced by students’ emotional intelligence, which enables them to regulate emotions, maintain motivation, and process information critically. This quantitative research employed a causal associative approach to examine the influence of AI utilization and emotional intelligence on the learning creativity of Business Education students from the 2023 cohort at the Faculty of Economics, Universitas Negeri Medan. The study involved 60 respondents selected through saturated sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and an online emotional intelligence test, then analyzed using multiple linear regression supported by validity, reliability, and classical assumption tests. The findings indicate that AI utilization has a positive and significant effect on learning creativity, while emotional intelligence also contributes positively and significantly to students’ creative learning outcomes. Simultaneously, both variables explain 50.8% of the variance in learning creativity, indicating that technological competence and emotional capability complement each other in fostering creative academic performance. These findings emphasize that AI should be utilized as a reflective learning partner rather than merely a shortcut for completing academic tasks. Strengthening emotional intelligence alongside responsible AI use is expected to encourage more innovative, independent, and sustainable learning practices among university students.

Abstract

Learning outcomes in vocational education are influenced by multiple internal and external factors, including self-regulated learning, peer support, learning quality, and students' learning motivation. Understanding the interaction among these variables is essential for improving learning effectiveness, particularly in Digital Business vocational programs. This quantitative study employed an explanatory survey design involving 60 students of the Digital Business Department at SMKS Budi Agung Medan during the 2025/2026 academic year. The entire population was selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires and documentation of students' achievement scores, then analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4. Instrument quality was evaluated through convergent validity, discriminant validity, composite reliability, and Cronbach's alpha before structural model assessment. The findings indicate that learning quality has a positive and significant effect on learning motivation, whereas self-regulated learning and peer support do not significantly influence learning motivation. Self-regulated learning, peer support, learning quality, and learning motivation also do not have significant direct effects on learning outcomes. Furthermore, learning motivation fails to mediate the relationship between the independent variables and learning outcomes. These findings emphasize that improving instructional quality plays a more substantial role in fostering students' motivation than directly improving academic achievement. The study contributes empirical evidence regarding the structural relationships among learning-related variables in vocational education and provides recommendations for strengthening instructional practices to enhance student learning experiences.

Abstract

Investment from an Islamic perspective represents an economic activity that extends beyond financial gain by incorporating spiritual values, ethical considerations, and social responsibilities grounded in Sharia principles. The rapid growth of the Islamic financial industry has increased public interest in various investment instruments that comply with Islamic law. A qualitative approach based on library research was employed through the examination of relevant primary and secondary sources, including the Qur’an, Hadith, fatwas issued by the National Sharia Council of the Indonesian Ulema Council, academic books, scientific journals, and reports from related institutions. The analysis utilized content analysis and thematic analysis techniques to identify the fundamental principles of Islamic investment, the development of available investment instruments, and the contemporary challenges associated with their implementation. The findings indicate that Islamic investment is founded on the principles of justice, public welfare, transparency, and the prohibition of riba (usury), gharar (excessive uncertainty), and maysir (gambling or speculation). Various Islamic investment instruments, including Sharia-compliant stocks, sukuk, Islamic mutual funds, and Islamic deposits, have experienced significant growth in Indonesia. Nevertheless, low levels of Islamic financial literacy, limited product innovation, governance issues, and the rapid advancement of financial technology continue to pose substantial challenges. Strengthening regulatory frameworks, enhancing public education, and promoting sustainable product innovation are essential for supporting the development of an inclusive and sustainable Islamic investment ecosystem.
