Abstract

This study aims to determine the number of human resources needed by the library of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. This research was conducted using a quantitative descriptive method. The data is processed by referring to Law Number 43 of 2007 concerning Libraries and the Regulation of the Head of the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia Number 26 of 2017 concerning Guidelines for the Preparation of the Functional Position Formation of Librarians. The results of this study indicate that the ideal number of librarians in an agency is 24 people. Meanwhile, the number of librarians in the central library of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang is only 4 people. So it is recommended that there is an increase in the number of librarians who have a D II, D III and D IV background or a bachelor (S1) in Library Science.

Abstract

The Final Student (S1 level) of UIN Saifuddin Zuhri, has the final assignment in research /thesis. The academic library provides services related to student information about thesis assignments. This research aims to find out the views of students in semester seven and above about the importance of special library services for final-level students—research methods through descriptive qualitative approaches, with data retrieval through interviews and documents. This research will be interviews conducted in two stages; first, in Five students researching their thesis and students who have just graduated; Second, the question is open to 99 students in semester seven and above. The results showed that the first stage, information retrieval service as a unique service for thesis students, is very needed. However, some students do not encounter obstacles in completing their thesis but still consider if information retrieval service is necessary. The second stage, open question answers to 99 students, showed that special services for thesis students were indispensable. Student complaints include difficulty finding referrals and a lack of knowledge about compiling a good thesis. In conclusion, the college library has demanded that final-level students hold special services for thesis students. The services provided should be with sufficient officers, in this case, adjusted to the number of students who are thesis.

Abstract

The maintenance and preservation of library materials is carried out with the aim of preserving the information values ??contained in a document, accelerating information retrieval, maintaining the beauty and tidiness of documents, maintaining library materials so that they can still be used, and preventing collections from various factors that are damaging. The method used in writing this article is a literature study, with an emphasis on peeling, summarizing and collecting literature, then giving the analysis. Maintenance and preservation are carried out in the library, namely, 1) cleaning the collection from dust, 2) cleaning the floor every day, 3) avoiding using thick bookmarks, 3) holding both sides of the book while reading, 4) storing books in a dry place, 5) weeding the collection, 6) changing the shape using media, 7) reproduction of library materials, 8) binding and laminating. The factors that causing damages to library materials are, 1) physical factors or material characteristics, 2) environmental or climatic factors, 3) human factors. Activities and preservation of library materials required reliable human resources. Constraints in the preservation of library materials, namely, the lack of preservation personnel, the absence of institutions that handle it specifically and lack of funds.

Abstract

The library is an institution that has an important role in collecting and preserving information sources. These sources of information need to be preserved to maintain their physical form and the content of information they contain. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out activities for the preservation of library materials that are sustainable and in accordance with the provisions. The research was conducted qualitatively by utilizing secondary data sources obtained from official publications of agencies and institutions, applicable laws and regulations, and other related publications. Actions for maintaining library materials that can be taken are exterminating insects, removing stains and tape, and cleaning dust.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the problems contained in the Panca Bhakti University Library in building an Institutional Repository and to find out the stages in developing an Institutional Repository at the Panca Bhakti University Library. The method used in this research is descriptive analytical research method. The results obtained in this study were the finding of obstacles in building an Institutional Repository at the Panca Bhakti University Library, namely copyright, HR, and plagiarism issues. The steps taken by the Panca Bhakti University Library are analyzing the needs of its users, human resources that focus on the management of institutional repositories, facilities and infrastructure that increase capacity to support the implementation of activities in digital libraries, the last of which is the repository content providing scientific works from the academic community. Abstract

The development of information in the digital era forces librarians to change their roles to become information professionals who have modern skills to face challenges in the digital environment. This study aimed to determine the extent of the studies conducted on information professionals in libraries and to find out the themes and terms that were often used, the trend of topics each year, and the social networks of the authors. The method used was Scientometric analysis using a single search in the Lens.org database. Articles were searched using the terms “information professional” AND “library” in the title. The data obtained were 1523 publications from 1950 to 2020. The results of this study showed that in 2011 and 2014 the largest number of publications were 76 and 84 articles, respectively. In addition, the average growth rate related to publications among information professionals was quite high at 29% during the analyzed period. The study themes were divided into 4 major theme groups and the basic theme was the most frequently used. Then the term that most often appears was "information" with 1110 repetitions. There were also technical terms such as digital, application, and internet which indicate that the study of information professionals had adapted to systems in the digital era. Following the trend of topics in the third quarter (2013-2020), it showed more about the LIS and skills.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the readiness of the professional competence of librarians in the development and development of iKuansing in the Dispersip Kuansing. The results of this study are presented in accordance with Sudarsono's theory, namely the readiness of the professional competence of librarians. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative research method with data collection techniques of observation, interviews and documentation. In this study, researchers used data analysis techniques through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and verification/drawing conclusions. To test the credibility of the data, triangulation technique was used. The result of this research is qualitative research. Data analysis is descriptive. The research subject is the iKuansing application, staff and librarians at Dispersip money. The object of this research is the readiness of the librarian's professional competence in the development and development of iKuansing. The results of this study are the iKuansing in the Dispersip Kuansing consisting of 10 indicators, according to the informant's perception 8 of the competencies already possessed by the librarian are: librarians have been able to create and manage efficient digital technology, librarians are able to monitor, filter, and select up-to-date, librarians have knowledge and management skills of Pusdokinfo, librarians are able to provide user education, librarians use information technology for information distribution, librarians able to develop information products that can be used anywhere, librarians are able to continuously update information services, librarians are able to understand the ethics of cyberspace already owned by librarians. Meanwhile, there are two indicators that do not have readiness, namely: librarians have not been able to assess the needs of users on a regular basis because librarians have not provided space for users to provide input and suggestions as evaluation material for librarians and libraries. Librarians have not been able to communicate information services to the leadership because iKuansing is an activity program that has been designed by the library planning department.

Abstract

This article discusses the revitalization of university library circulation services. The method used in thisarticle is a literature review. Materials that have been obtained through this literature review are collected,reviewed and then analyzed. Based on the results of the studies that have been carried out, it is found thatcirculation services are provided to assist users in finding information and speed up the process of borrowingback collections, because circulation services already use automation with the Slims application. Thepurpose of this circulation service is so that users can utilize the collection as much as possible,effectively, efficiently. The circulation service functions are, 1). Center for the preservation of science, 2).Learning center, 3). Teaching center, 4) Research center, 5) Information dissemination center. The servicesystem used is an open service system (open access), where the user is free to take the collection on theshelves as desired. Revitalization of this circulation service, can serve users in searching for information,ordering collections, borrowing library materials, calculating late collection fines, making visitor statistics,finding out statistics on borrowed collections to be fast, precise and accurate, improving service quality,meeting needs that cannot be met. done manually, increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of the libraryby using automation.

Abstract

Reading interest can be seen from the level of wearability of the collection. For this reason, it is necessary toresearch how frequency the library collections use. The purpose of this study is to find out the student's readinginterest in novel books related to the use of novel collections at the Library Unit of IPDN NTB Campus, fromJuly 2019 to December 2020. In this study, the researcher used a descriptive method, namely by describingaccurate data regarding the facts, the nature of the relationship between the phenomena under study. The resultsof this study indicate that the number of novel collections are 61 titles with 326 copies. The number of usabilityof the novel collections in the IPDN Library of the NTB Campus from July to December 2019 reached 384 books(117.79%). While the usability of the novel collection from January to December 2020 are 97 books (29.75%).There was a decrease in the usability of novel books reaching 287 books (88.04%). Minister of Home AffairsRegulation number 21 of 2020 concerning Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) triggered a drastic decreasein the use of novel book collections at the IPDN Library, NTB Campus.
