Abstract

This research begins an effort to overcome the complex challenges of formulating the concept of religious obligations among diverse Indonesian society. This study emphasizes the importance of understanding aspects of these obligations in the context of Indonesia's national ideology, Pancasila, which emphasizes the principle of Belief in One Almighty God. Facing the legal and ethical complexities involved, this research uses a juridical-normative approach as an analytical framework to examine and understand policies surrounding religious obligations in Indonesia. The juridical-normative approach is very useful in identifying and interpreting government policies and societal norms that influence religious adherence in a country. Although the Indonesian government does not strictly require its citizens to adhere to only officially recognized religions — namely Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, and Buddhism — there is a fundamental tension between formal recognition and actual practice. The research results show that in practice, adherents of local beliefs such as Sundanese Wiwitan, Kaharingan, and Parmalim, which are inherited from generation to generation, often face discrimination that is contrary to the spirit of the first principle of Pancasila. This research illustrates the tension between official lists of religions and the reality that not all spiritual denominations are treated equally. This gap between policy and practice raises questions about the consistent application of Indonesia's constitutional law and the basic ideology of Pancasila across the diverse religious spectrum. This study aims to be a first step to further explore and discuss the complexity of religious obligations and freedom in Indonesia, especially in the context of the legal and ethical framework.

Abstract

This paper analyzes the periodization of Western history, broadly construed. It first divides the Old World (Asia, Africa, and Europe) into three macro-civilizations (or Civilizations), that are further broken down into micro-civilizations, or civilizations. The West covers the modern Middle/Near East, North Africa, Europe, and Central Asia. The East covers East Asia, including Mongolia, as well as Singapore and Vietnam. The Central Civilization covers South Asia and the rest of Southeast Asia. After making this division, the paper then breaks down Western history into basic periods, specifically for the purposes of Political Theory. Western history is broken up into nine basic periods, which form four ages, three epochs, and two eons. Ancient time is divided from Medieval-Modern time into two eons. Ancient time is then broken up into seven periods, forming three ages and two epochs, the latter group corresponding to the Bronze/Iron Age dichotomy. This system is devised specifically for Political Theory, and to a lesser extent, the rest of Political Science, in order to avoid biased from looking backwards at history, specifically those that divide the Greater Mediterranean world (a.k.a. the West) by modern religion.

It narrated the conditions that led to the first naval court martial, examining if there was any ethno coloration in the event. The research also studied the sources, as well as the nature of its early development within the first ten years of its existence. The research in addition analyzed the impact of the British or colonial government on the creation of the Nigerian Navy. The study relied heavily on documentary data and lightly on oral data. The oral data were based on unstructured interviews with few former senior naval officers; and the documentary data were sourced from colonial government annual departmental reports, correspondence, books and magazines. The oral data were transcribed for analysis. The documentary data were subjected to textual and contextual analysis. Abstract

Jabar Digital Service (JDS) took an innovative approach by smoothly integrating Spotify's agile model into the government's structure. This transformation went beyond simple structural changes. It completely reconfigured bureaucratic structures to match the agile culture required for effective digital service delivery. JDS proactively adapted its organizational structure by recruiting highly skilled professionals to meet the specific needs of the digital environment. In addition, the organization implemented the Agile at Scale and Heterogeneous Tailoring frameworks. These frameworks increased independence and promoted consistency in decision-making, enabling a fundamental change in the way JDS delivered projects and introducing collaborative groups such as squads, tribes and divisions. This integration required a complete restructuring of cultural standards, regulatory systems, risk mitigation procedures and thorough staff development. The process of communicating effectively with team stakeholders and achieving a balance between team autonomy and alignment in a changed organization was challenging. A variety of methods were used to support this research, including an in-depth exploration and observation of JDS, semi-structured interviews with relevant staff, a comprehensive case study approach using holistic single case design, and a detailed analysis of previous research, regulations and secondary data sources. The impact of this pioneering project was far-reaching. It facilitated the establishment of digital signatures to simplify bureaucratic procedures, the conversion of analogue forms into digital domains, and the digitalization of business activities. The development of JDS was an important milestone in the digital transformation process, as it facilitated collaboration between the community and the government on digital services. Significantly, this undertaking used Spotify's operational framework, adapting and customizing it to the specific needs and difficulties of JDS, which represents a notable advance in government digital integration

Abstract

Democracy, regarded as the epitome of equitable governance, is celebrated for promoting freedom, justice, and equality. However, when Democracy is implemented within the cultural and philosophical framework of Pancasila—Indonesia's foundational ideology—significant tensions emerge. This study delves into these complexities, critically examining how democratic principles intersect with Pancasila's emphasis on consensus, collectivism, and ethical leadership. The analysis identifies critical areas of conflict: The overreliance on majority rule can marginalize minority voices, The prioritization of individualism is often at the expense of social cohesion, and The focus is on popular leadership rather than governance rooted in moral integrity. Additionally, the persistence of economic inequality in a democratic context raises concerns about the system's ability to deliver social justice, a core tenet of Pancasila. The study argues that to serve the interests of the Indonesian people more effectively, Democracy in Indonesia must be recalibrated to align with Pancasila's values. It concludes with recommendations for institutional reforms emphasizing consensus-building, ethical leadership, and equitable resource distribution, aiming to create a governance model that reflects the people's will and upholds the cultural and ethical values central to Indonesia's national identity.
