Conflict is as old as human race. Since the creation of the country called Nigeria, there has been debate on the issue of peaceful coexistence among the different ethnic groups and between the two major religious groups, Christians and Muslims. This paper explored ethnic conflicts in Nigeria. There are many research work has been carried upon on the issue of Ethnic conflicts in Nigeria but the implications of these on the girl-child is limited. It is on this premise that this research is based. Ethnic issues are the bane of the different conflicts in Nigeria. It is against this background that this study intends to undertake a critical investigation of the ethnic conflict. The significance of this study therefore cannot be overemphasized because there cannot be development if there is no peace. However, the entrenchment of the democratic rule in 1999 brought a ray of hope for the citizens. Sadly, democracy has failed to completely unite the people of Nigeria; this is evident in the scores of ethnic conflicts in different parts of the nation.

Myths and motifs constitute the expressive and symbolic representation of the culture of a society. They are frequent in creative productions and relate to religion, philosophy, and society’s environment and social forces. Though independent studies on motifs and myths exist, studies describing their interrelationship are hard to discover. Further, their trajectory and interrelations are hardly discussed in social sciences and even in Sociology. Taking this dearth of knowledge into account, the present article tries to elaborate on these two concepts, chalk out their interpretations by Sociologists, and establish their interrelations. The article is based on secondary literature established through the content analysis method. The result and discussion are organized into four parts i.e. conceptual elaborations of motifs and myths, the Sociological knowledge production on motifs and myths, the interrelationship between myths and motifs, and the concluding lines. The study ends with the concluding lines that myths and motifs are cultural and social resources whose study needs to be brought out into the ambit of social science discourses.

Uptake of long-acting reversible contraceptives has been low among many women in Kenya. This has seen a surge in the number of unplanned pregnancies, which leads to continued poverty due to large sizes of families. This study therefore sought to establish the socio-cultural factors influencing the uptake of long-acting reversible contraceptives among women of reproductive age in Kenya. The study adopted descriptive cross sectional study design. The study was conducted in public hospitals in Kenya. The target population included the women of reproductive age of between 18 and 45 years. A sampling formula was used to identify the appropriate sample for the respondents. The 379 respondents identified were picked through simple random sampling. The data were collected using an interviewer-administered questionnaire. The collected data were analysed using descriptive statistics through SPSS version 26. The findings revealed that socio-cultural factors such as religious believe affected the uptake of long lasting reversible contraceptives among reproductive women in Kenya. The study concluded that through misconceived social cultural believes, the uptake of long lasting family planning methods/long-acting reversible contraceptives was minimal among reproductive women in Kenya. The study recommended the need for the government, the hospitals and other stakeholders to create awareness and education on the need for long-acting reversible contraceptives and other family planning methods among women. There is need for the communities to also embrace modern methods of family planning so as to stimulate their economic and social development.

The long road of economic and political modernisation of Democracy in Indonesia has transformed Indonesian society into an industrial community that has not empowered the people's economic sectors. The ups and downs of democratic politics remain far from the culture of deliberation mandated by Pancasila. The combination of development politics that has hit collective economic and cultural wisdom with political liberalisation in the past 15 years has negatively impacted Indonesian cultural identity. The following study seeks to reconstruct the local knowledge and political values of Indonesian ethnic groups and communities to demonstrate the potential of social capital to improve our democratic politics. The object of the study consists of two types: the first is ethnic groups, with a focus on Wajo and Minang, and the second is the communities of several urban parks in Java. The theoretical perspective used is the theory of consultative Democracy. From the point of view of political anthropology, this study is a case study in the context of qualitative research with qualitative-interpretive methods.

The philosophy of life of the Batak tribe, namely Dalihan Na Tolu, is believed to be able to maintain order in the social life of the Batak community and family. Dalihan Na Tolu determines the form of greeting, position and attitude that applies in traditional ceremonies and daily life. Amid the rapid current flow of globalization, there are fears that the local wisdom of traditional culture, including the philosophy of life that has been believed for a long time, will erode, especially among families living in metropolitan cities whose infiltration or infiltration. The mixing of cultures is very dynamic and robust. This research was conducted to reveal how the Batak community in the metropolitan city perceives the values of Dalihan Na Tolu. The study shows that among the Batak settlers in Jakarta, the value of Dalihan Na Tolu is still highly understood, accepted, and appreciated, even though the breadth of knowledge and depth of meaning is different. Some factors that influence these differences include sub-ethnic origin, profession, the intensity of the Batak community association, and position in the family. The study's results also concluded that the childhood environment had a significant effect on the internalization of cultural values.

The latest technology considered relevant to the times' needs makes people from the newest civilisation abandon and forget traditional technology that has even been tested for hundreds of years in overcoming various problems of its time. One is Poda Na Lima, philosophical teaching about mental attitude and lifestyle in Batak civilisation. Now, this philosophy is still known in the Batak community. However, the problem is in the implementation. This study explores and translates the values of Poda Na Lima to draw their relevance to the potential for solving the Covid-19 problem, which is still a problem in the global community. This research and study analyse the Poda Na Lima, a philosophy using the Sociosemiotics analysis knife. The sociosemiotics point of view is appropriate in describing the problems related to this research and study. It becomes a research method, analysis, and conclusion that can ultimately prove that the values and derivatives of the implementation of Poda Na Lima can be used as standards and guidelines for overcoming the Covid-19 problem and any other public health problems.

Advice values in folklore stories can educate in taking lessons and role models that are worthy of being guided by and then used as examples of bad behavior and those that are not good not to emulate. The value of valuable advice, namely: being sincere and selfless and forgiving their children, Forgiving others is a commendable deed, The child's respect for both parents is manifested in sentences that show obedience to both parents. Folklore often reflects the creativity of traditional societies while still holding fast to tradition as a manifestation of creativity that is alive and passed down from generation to generation. Thus, folklore stories remain oriented towards local ethnic values. Value (value) has always been a measure in determining truth and justice that comes from religious content, logic, and the norms prevailing in society. Interpreting values in Folklore by interpreting a behavioral trend that originates from psychological symptoms such as: desires, motives, attitudes, needs, and beliefs that are owned, so that the values of Folklore can be used as parametric educational values, religiosity, social values, and norms as ethnic bias.

This study examined the genesis of the Nigerian Army, the activities in context with policy and platform preference in tactics, strategy and doctrine. Nigeria’s response to the myriad of challenges faced by the Nigerian Army and the role it played pre- 1970. The research also traced the history of the Nigeria Army, and postulates factors in the organization that engendered ethnic rivalry. A retrospect and review of the facts was made, in order that scholars would have an insight on perceptions as well as the reasons why the choice of strategic platform favored the Army. The research identified the reasons why the Army is considered the number one force in the Nigerian state and the land platform is most favored. The other contribution to knowledge is the correlation between ethnic rivalry and the choice of platform.
