Abstract

This article aims to critically reconstruct the contribution of Islamic civilization to the formation of the Western scientific tradition and to uncover the dynamics of the intercivilizational dialectics underlying it. This research uses a qualitative approach based on literature review, with a historical methodological framework encompassing heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography, to systematically trace and analyze the process of transmission and transformation of scientific knowledge. The results of the study indicate that institutions such as the Bayt al-Hikmah and the intellectual contributions of figures such as Ibn Sina, Al-Khwarizmi, and Ibn Rushd played a fundamental role in developing and transmitting the scientific tradition to the West, despite often being marginalized in Eurocentric historiography. Implicatively, this research emphasizes the urgency of reconstructing an integrative scientific paradigm through epistemological dialogue between Islam and the West to build a more holistic, inclusive, and civilized scientific system.

Abstract

The era of digital disruption has posed structural challenges for Islamic da'wah institutions in Indonesia, not only in terms of technology, but also in human resource (HR) governance and leadership models. This study aims to analyze the role of value-based transformative leadership in managing HR change within da'wah institutions amid digital disruption. Using a qualitative approach through library research and content analysis, this study explores the relationship between leadership models, HR transformation dynamics, and the integration of spiritual values in mission-driven organizations. The findings indicate that transformative leadership rooted in Islamic values, such as amanah (trustworthiness), shura (deliberation), and maslahah (common good), functions as a more systematic, adaptive, and sustainable catalyst for HR change than conventional leadership models. This study also finds that resistance to change in da'wah institutions is multidimensional, encompassing cultural, psychological, and ideological aspects. As its novelty, this study proposes a new conceptual model termed Value-Based Transformational Leadership (VBTL), which synthetically integrates spiritual, managerial, and digital dimensions. This model is intended to serve as a theoretical-practical framework for developing da'wah institution management that is responsive to digital dynamics while preserving its value identity.

Abstract

This study explores the distribution of zakat for productive purposes to empower Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The research addresses the growing need for effective zakat management to enhance economic empowerment in the Muslim community. The primary objective is to analyze existing literature on productive zakat and its impact on MSMEs using a systematic literature review (SLR) methodology. Data were collected using Publish or Perish and subsequently analyzed in VOSviewer to visualize research trends, keyword networks, and collaboration patterns. The findings reveal that zakat distribution is increasingly focused on economic empowerment, with Indonesia emerging as a significant case study due to its substantial zakat potential. Key themes identified include the effectiveness of zakat in fostering MSME productivity and sustainability. The study highlights gaps in current research, particularly concerning implementing zakat in diverse economic contexts. Policy implications suggest the need for enhanced zakat management frameworks and multisectoral collaboration to optimize zakat's role in economic development.

Abstract

The acceleration of artificial intelligence and algorithmic personalization has reshaped how young Muslims access religious and secular information, extending classical notions of ideological influence into digital environments. This qualitative study uses a sequential explanatory design to investigate digital ghazwul fikri, war of ideas mediated by algorithms, chatbots, and generative systems, among Indonesian millennial and Gen Z Muslims from an integrative Islamic perspective. Phase I, reported in this manuscript, combines critical discourse analysis of fourteen recent academic sources on AI ethics, technology acceptance in Islamic education, ghazwul fikri, intellectual education in hadith, learning media, knowledge integration, and interfaith AI ethics with synthesis of wahdatul ‘ulūm and contextualized algorethics. Document analysis reveals a persistent gap: no empirical qualitative study links AI mediated influence to ghazwul fikri among Indonesian Muslim youth while integrating Islamic epistemology. Phase I findings show that global AI ethics discourse emphasizes regulation and human rights without operationalizing Islamic integrative frameworks; ghazwul scholarship remains library based without algorithmic modalities; and religious perspective on ICT is quantitatively established but not extended to generative AI or value conflict. The study constructs a preliminary integrative analytical framework mapping classical ghazwul strategies to contemporary digital modes and proposes implications for researchers in Islamic studies and technology ethics. Phase II phenomenological inquiry with youth informants, designed to test perception and value conflict themes, will follow institutional ethics clearance and is not yet reported here.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the historicity of hadith transmission and codification and explain the dynamics of transmission, the formation of authority, and the canonization process of the Sunnah in early Islam. This study is motivated by academic debates regarding the authenticity of hadith, the development of transmission traditions, and the construction of religious authority in Islamic intellectual history. This research is a library research with a historical-critical approach and historiography of hadith. Data were obtained from primary sources in the form of hadith books, works of classical scholars in the field of 'ulūm al-ḥadīṡ, as well as secondary sources in the form of books, scientific articles, and relevant contemporary research. The data were analyzed using content analysis and historical-comparative analysis techniques to comprehensively reconstruct the development of hadith transmission and codification. The results of this study indicate that the transmission of hadith in the early Islamic period developed through a dynamic interaction between oral and written traditions. The processes of transmission, verification of the sanad (chain of transmission), and codification of hadith contributed significantly to establishing the authority of the Sunnah as a source of Islamic teachings. Furthermore, the canonization of hadith served as a crucial mechanism for establishing the legitimacy of hadith collections and strengthening their position within the classical Islamic scholarly tradition. This research highlights the importance of understanding hadith as a product of knowledge transmission constructed through complex historical, methodological, and institutional processes, thus enriching the perspective of contemporary hadith studies.
