Jurnal Studi Pendidikan Agama Islam (JSPAI) adalah Jurnal ilmiah dengan ISSN 3123-5441 yang memuat kajian-kajian akademik, teoretis maupun praktis, dalam bidang pendidikan agama Islam. Jurnal ini diterbitkan secara berkala pada Bulan Maret dan September oleh Pascasarjana IAI Al-Khairat Pamekasan yang bekerjasama dengan LP2M IAI Al-Khairat pamekasan, yang memiliki fokus terhadap pengembangan studi keislaman, khususnya dalam konteks pendidikan. Tujuan utama jurnal ini adalah menjadi wadah publikasi bagi para akademisi, Mahasiswa, peneliti, guru, dan praktisi pendidikan untuk mempublikasikan hasil penelitian, kajian pustaka, maupun pengembangan model dan strategi pembelajaran yang relevan dengan Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI). Ruang lingkup kajian jurnal ini mencakup Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) yang meliputi filsafat, kurikulum, metode, media, penilaian, lingkungan, pendidik, dan peserta didik pada lembaga pendidikan formal (madrasah, sekolah, perguruan tinggi), nonformal (pesantren, madrasah diniyah), serta informal (keluarga dan masyarakat). Kajian dapat dilakukan dari perspektif filosofis, sosiologis, psikologis, pedagogis, yuridis, maupun teknologis. Naskah artikel dapat ditulis dalam bahasa Indonesia dan/atau bahasa Inggris, dengan bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa yang diutamakan. Jurnal ini menerapkan proses peer-review yang ketat untuk menjamin kualitas ilmiah serta mendukung pengembangan keilmuan PAI yang adaptif, moderat, dan berwawasan global.

Abstract

Rapid advancements in information technology, the forces of globalisation, and dynamic social changes require Islamic education to continuously adapt in order to remain relevant to the demands of the modern era. One of the most significant challenges faced is the tendency towards a textualist understanding of religion that pays insufficient attention to context, resulting in the ethical values embedded in the Qur’an not being fully internalised by students. In this context, the concept of Double Movement introduced by Fazlur Rahman emerges as an important approach for renewing ways of thinking within Islamic education. This concept emphasises two stages in interpreting the Qur’an: first, understanding the Qur’an within its historical context at the time of revelation in order to identify universal moral principles; and second, reapplying these principles within contemporary social contexts.This study aims to examine Fazlur Rahman’s concept of Double Movement and to analyse its impact on the renewal of Islamic educational thought, particularly in relation to educational paradigms, educational objectives, curriculum development, and teaching methods. The research employs a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis through a library-based study. Data were obtained from primary sources, namely Fazlur Rahman’s works, as well as secondary sources including academic journals and relevant scholarly literature.The findings indicate that the Double Movement concept makes a significant contribution to the development of Islamic education that is more contextual, ethical, and responsive to the challenges of changing times. This approach encourages Islamic education to move beyond a sole focus on textual understanding of religious teachings towards the formation of character, moral awareness, and students’ critical thinking abilities. Thus, Fazlur Rahman’s ideas provide a strong conceptual foundation for the development of a transformative Islamic education that remains relevant to contemporary social realities.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education has a strategic role in preparing a generation of the nation with religious, nationalist, and globally competitive characters in line with the Vision of Golden Indonesia 2045. The challenges of globalization, value disruption, and the increasing complexity of social life require Islamic Religious Education to not only be oriented towards strengthening spiritual aspects, but also be able to integrate Islamic values ​​with national values ​​and global citizenship in a harmonious and contextual manner. This study aims to systematically analyze the concepts, patterns, and urgency of integrating Islamic, national, and global citizenship values ​​in Islamic Religious Education as a foundation for the development of future Indonesian human resources. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study type. Data collection techniques are carried out through searching and reviewing written sources in the form of books, scientific journal articles, educational policy documents, and relevant research reports. Data analysis techniques use content analysis through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and interpretative conclusion drawing. Data validity is maintained through diligent observation, referential adequacy, and triangulation of sources and theories. The research results indicate that the integration of Islamic, national, and global citizenship values ​​in Islamic Religious Education can be realized through strengthening a curriculum based on moderation values, developing reflective and contextual pedagogy, and internalizing the values ​​of tolerance, justice, and global responsibility. This research implies the importance of strengthening adaptive and transformative Islamic Religious Education policies and practices to support the realization of a Golden Indonesia 2045 generation that is faithful, moral, patriotic, and has a global perspective.

Abstract

house among the Sintang community in West Kalimantan. The research employs a qualitative approach using a phenomenological method, which focuses on understanding the meaning of the community’s social experiences related to this tradition. This approach is chosen to explore the perspectives, interpretations, and subjective experiences of the community in practicing the new house–moving tradition as an integral part of their social and cultural life. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews with informants who are considered knowledgeable about the tradition, as well as member checking to ensure the validity and accuracy of the data obtained. The main focus of this study is to understand the role and meaning of the new house–moving tradition in the social life of the Sintang community, while also identifying the cultural values and local wisdom embedded within it.The findings reveal that the tradition of moving into a new house is not merely understood as a physical relocation process, but also as a social event rich in cultural meaning. This tradition reflects strong social solidarity, a sense of togetherness, and respect for ancestors that are still highly upheld by the community. The practice of mutual cooperation (gotong royong) serves as the main foundation in every stage of the tradition, while customary practices and distinctive cultural symbols of Sintang provide profound meaning to the procession. In addition, neighborly relations play a central role in maintaining community harmony, and the selection of the new house location is also influenced by local environmental values believed by the community. Thus, this study offers a comprehensive understanding of local wisdom in the tradition of moving into a new house among the Sintangcommunity and emphasizes the importance of understanding and preserving traditions as an integral part of the cultural identity of the people of West Kalimantan.

Abstract

Ilmu pengetahuan merupakan produk aktivitas rasional manusia yang berkembang melalui proses refleksi filosofis yang mendalam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis landasan pengembangan ilmu dalam perspektif filsafat ilmu, khususnya melalui tiga pilar utama, yaitu ontologi, epistemologi, dan aksiologi, serta relasi manusia dengan nilai dalam pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kepustakaan (library research), dengan menelaah berbagai literatur klasik dan kontemporer di bidang filsafat ilmu. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa landasan ontologis berfungsi menetapkan hakikat dan objek kajian ilmu secara jelas, sehingga memberikan pijakan realistis bagi perkembangan pengetahuan. Landasan epistemologis menekankan pentingnya sumber, metode, serta validitas pengetahuan melalui perpaduan antara rasio dan pengalaman empiris, sekaligus menegaskan sifat tentatif ilmu pengetahuan. Sementara itu, landasan aksiologis menegaskan bahwa ilmu tidak bebas nilai, melainkan harus diarahkan pada kemaslahatan, etika, dan tanggung jawab kemanusiaan. Selain itu, manusia dipahami sebagai subjek nilai yang berperan aktif dalam menentukan arah, tujuan, dan pemanfaatan ilmu. Dengan demikian, pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan idealnya tidak hanya berorientasi pada kebenaran faktual, tetapi juga pada nilai moral, sosial, dan keberlanjutan, agar ilmu berfungsi sebagai sarana kemajuan peradaban yang beradab dan humanis.

Abstract

This study examined the limitations of bureaucratic rationality in public service delivery and explored how Islamic education and da’wah functioned as ethical foundations for human- centred public services. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach grounded in document analysis, normative Islamic texts, and selected empirical studies on public administration and religious ethics. Data were analysed thematically to identify points of tension between procedural rationality, efficiency-oriented governance, and human values such as dignity, empathy, and moral responsibility. The study found that bureaucratic rationality, while JSPAI effective in ensuring order, predictability, and accountability, often reduced citizens to administrative objects and neglected lived human experiences. Islamic education was shown to cultivate ethical awareness, moral reasoning, and character formation, while da’wah operated as a communicative and transformative process that internalised values of justice, compassion, and public responsibility among service providers. The results indicate that the integration of Islamic educational values and da’wah ethics reorients public services towards human-centred practices, where rules are balanced with moral judgement and social sensitivity. The study concludes that Islamic education and da’wah provide a viable ethical framework for humanising public service delivery without undermining bureaucratic structure. This approach offers an alternative paradigm in which efficiency and regulation coexist with ethical consciousness, empathy, and social justice. The findings contribute to international discussions on public administration, ethics, and religion by proposing a culturally grounded yet universally relevant model of human-centred public services.

Abstract

The acceleration class program is designed to meet the educational needs of students with exceptional intelligence and talents, enabling them to complete formal education within a shorter period. Despite its considerable potential to optimize the intellectual development of gifted students, the implementation of acceleration classes in schools continues to face various challenges and controversies across academic, psychological, and social dimensions. This study aims to identify the main problems and controversies surrounding the implementation of acceleration classes and to formulate solution-oriented strategies to promote high-quality and sustainable education. This study adopts a library research approach by analyzing relevant scholarly sources, including peer-reviewed journals, books, and academic documents. Data analysis was conducted systematically through several stages, including the determination of units of analysis, data coding, theme identification, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the primary issues in acceleration classes include rigid and overloaded curricula, limited teacher competence, and disruptions to students’ psychological and social well-being. Furthermore, controversies arise concerning program effectiveness, unequal access to education, and potential social tension within the school environment. This study proposes solutions in the form of adaptive curriculum development, enhancement of teacher capacity, strengthening of counseling services, and the implementation of continuous program evaluation. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for the development of more holistic acceleration class policies and practices that prioritize student well-being.

Abstract

This study aimed to comprehensively analyse the relationship between school climate and the role of the family in efforts to prevent violence among students. The phenomenon of student violence in educational settings was a complex problem that required multi-stakeholder intervention. A positive school climate, characterised by a sense of safety, fairness, and supportive interpersonal relationships, was hypothesised to be a key factor in reducing aggressive behaviour. Meanwhile, the role of the family as the primary socialisation environment, including parenting styles, communication patterns, and parental involvement in school activities, was crucial in instilling anti-violence values and monitoring adolescent behaviour. The research employed a qualitative approach using the library research method. Data collection was conducted through the identification and retrieval of relevant literature from various academic databases, such as Google Scholar and other scholarly sources. The findings indicated a significant correlation between an inclusive school climate and a lower incidence of student violence. In addition, the study found that active involvement and open communication between families and schools strengthened the effectiveness of prevention programmes. Families that applied an authoritative parenting style tended to have children with a lower risk of engaging in violent behaviour.

Abstract

Differences in determining the beginning of lunar months particularly Ramadan, Shawwal, and Dhu al-Hijjah remain a recurring phenomenon that affects Muslim communal cohesion and the certainty of religious and social scheduling. Muhammadiyah proposes the Single Global Hijri Calendar or Kalender Hijriah Global Tunggal (KHGT) as an effort to unify the Hijri calendar based on the one day one date principle so that the same civil day corresponds to a single Hijri date worldwide. This study aims to explain the definition and objectives of KHGT, examine its scientific foundations particularly hisab hakiki or astronomical calculation and crescent visibility approaches along with their linkage to Islamic legal proofs, demonstrate how KHGT reflects harmony between Islam and modern science in determining worship times, and identify challenges to its regional and global implementation. The research employs a qualitative library research design using documentation and content analysis of Indonesian journal literature from the last five years as well as relevant KHGT-related documents. The findings show that KHGT emphasizes calendar certainty and long-term predictability through measurable and replicable modern astronomical computation, while its shar‘i legitimacy is framed through interpretive readings that prioritize ensuring the verified entry of a new lunar month. KHGT thus demonstrates a complementary relationship in which Islamic law provides normative aims and science functions as a verification instrument. The main challenges lie in consensus building, including differing criteria among organizations and states, acceptance of regional standards such as MABIMS or Neo MABIMS, and the need for international agreement on matlak and a global Hijri date line.

Abstract

This qualitative case study investigates how kyai (Islamic scholars) in contemporary Indonesian pesantren leverage their charismatic authority to promote religious moderation while building digital resilience among students in the digital media era. Conducted across four prominent pesantren in Indonesia between October 2023 and June 2024, this research employed in-depth interviews with 4 kyai, 6 ustadz, and 8 santri, complemented by participant observation and documentation analysis. Findings reveal three critical dimensions: (1) kyai strategically employ routine religious instruction and role modeling to institutionalize wasathiyah values, transforming traditional authority into a pedagogical framework for moderation; (2) pesantren implement structured digital literacy programs and device governance policies that cultivate critical digital consumption while maintaining theological groundedness; and (3) leadership adapts through hybrid models that preserve salaf traditions while selectively integrating modern educational technologies and methodologies. This study advances theoretical understanding of religious leadership in digital contexts by demonstrating how traditional charismatic authority can be reimagined as a source of resilience rather than resistance to technological change. The research contributes novel insights into the intersection of Islamic educational leadership, counter-radicalization strategies, and digital pedagogy, offering empirically grounded frameworks for pesantren seeking to navigate the tensions between tradition and modernity while promoting moderate Islamic thought.

Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence globally and nationally is transforming the learning ecosystem, requiring Islamic Religious Education teachers to adapt to pedagogical, ethical, and cultural changes to maintain the relevance of religious education. This study aims to analyze the transformation of the role of Islamic Religious Education teachers in facing the Artificial Intelligence-based learning ecosystem, by emphasizing their contribution to strengthening religious, humanistic, and religious moderation values ​​in the digital era. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review. Data sources come from various relevant scientific literature, including books, journal articles, proceedings, and national education policy documents that discuss Artificial Intelligence in education, particularly in the context of Islamic Religious Education learning. Data collection techniques are carried out through searching, collecting, and critical review of credible and up-to-date written sources. Data analysis is carried out by organizing, classifying, and synthesizing findings from various literature to obtain a comprehensive conceptual and thematic picture. Data validity is maintained through the selection of relevant, authoritative sources that are consistent with the focus of the study. The research findings indicate that the transformation of the role of Islamic Religious Education teachers involves a shift from transmitting knowledge to facilitating meaningful learning, reinforcing ethical digital literacy, and exemplifying the internalization of Islamic values ​​within a technological context. Artificial Intelligence has the potential to enhance learning effectiveness when coupled with teachers' pedagogical, spiritual, and critical competencies. The implications of this research emphasize its theoretical contribution to the development of a technology-adaptive Islamic Religious Education paradigm, as well as its practical contribution as a strategic reference for teachers and educational policymakers.
