Abstract

Reading is a basic skill that every child of the nation must have. Because a high literacy culture is proportional to the nation's ability to win global competition, especially in mastering science and technology, as well as labor market competition. The government really hopes for an increase in literacy culture in our country. This hope was continued by launching a movement for the growth o reading-writing culture, entitled “School Literacy Movement”. This movement is supported by researchers by trying to explore and create a fun literacy culture so that it attracts students to carry out literacy movements through comic anthology learning activities. The research method used in this study is a qualitative research method. This research was carried out at SD Muhammadiyah 16 Surabaya for fifth grade students consisting of 133 students divided into 8 classes. The sampling technique in this study is using a non-probability sampling technique. This study uses data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. After observing, the researcher continued the process of collecting data through interviews with students, class teachers and also the principal. This series of research has been carried out and the results are obtained with the conclusion that literacy activities in making comics are very attractive to fifth grade students. The data collection shows that 88% of fifth grade students have been able to create interesting story ideas, 60% of fifth grade students still need guidance for mastery. sentences in illustrating pictures, and 69% of fifth grade students still need guidance to create a story line that is interconnected between one picture and another. The ability of students to create an image illustration can mostly narrate the intent and storyline of the image. The relationship of one picture with the next picture with a narrative shows the ability of students to create an idea. Keywords: Literacy culture; comic anthology; anime.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the development of the application of the Steinberg method in learning Indonesian to improve students' creative thinking. The research subjects were grade 1 students at SDN Kuala Baru Laut, Aceh Province. This type of qualitative research with a case study design in the field. The method used in this research is the Steinberg method powerpoint based. The results of the analysis were then compared with the criteria for creative thinking to determine the level of application of the method in learning Indonesian. The application of the Steinberg method in class 1 Kuala Baru Laut achieved a score of 86%. Keywords: Steinberg method; Creative thinking; Indonesian; elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to describe student activities, teacher activities and learning outcomes. The type of research used is classroom action research which consists of 2 cycles. Each cycle includes the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were students of class V-F SDN Tanah Kalikewall V Surabaya which consisted of 38 students with details of 19 students and 19 students. The instrument used to reveal the activity data of students and teachers used an observation sheet. Meanwhile, to reveal the data on learning outcomes, a test instrument was used. The results showed that the student activity data in the first cycle reached 70% while the second cycle reached 95% which had increased by 25%. The teacher activity data in the first cycle reached 70% while in the second cycle it reached 95% which had increased by 25%. Data on student learning outcomes in the first cycle was 73.63% while in the second cycle it reached 88.47% which had experienced an increase of 15.47%. These data indicate that the use of diorama media can increase student activity, teacher activity and student learning outcomes in class V-F SDN Tanah Kalikewall V Surabaya. Keywords: diorama media, student activities, teacher activities, and learning outcomes

Abstract

This article aims to narrate the point of view from experiences undergraduate students' in PG PAUD in designing learning activities in Indonesian subjects by applying a thematic approach.  The development of learning in early grade elementary schools using Curriculum 13 designed with a thematic approach as a corridor for existing subjects, including learning Indonesian.  The application of thematic learning in SD which has different from the implementation in PAUD that understands thematic development as a corridor for stimulating aspects of child development, while in SD thematic development is directed at strengthening concepts according to subjects aimed at training and developing basic competencies in the realm of attitudes, knowledge and skills.  By using a case study approach, this research uses a narrative analysis technique to describe the uniqueness of the difference in the reality of the application of thematic learning in early grade elementary schools with the theoretical understanding of students with early childhood education backgrounds. Keywords: Teaching Campus; Early Grade Elementary School; Thematic

Abstract

Face-to-face learning (PTM) in Banyumas Regency, Central Java, started Wednesday (1/9/2021).  This follows the decline in the status of the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) from level 4 to 3. The Head of the Banyumas Education Authorities, Irawati, said that for the early stage, PTM would be tested in 54 schools.  "According to the governor's circular letter, limited PTM may be started". Elementary schools will carry out PTM starting Monday, October 4, 2021 after previously there was a coordination meeting between the principal and the Head of the Elementary School Curriculum regarding the preparation of PTM. This study aims to find out; 1) teacher and student responses  on the implementation of face-to-face learning 2) PTM implementation 3) PTM constraints and solutions This type of research is a qualitative research with descriptive method. The data collection process uses interviews and documentation. The informants of this research are teachers and students at SD Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. The results of the study;  1) Teachers and students responded well to the implementation of PTM; 2) The implementation of PTM during the Covid 19 Pandemic in Elementary Schools was in accordance with the Limited PTM SOP; 3) Obstacles faced in the implementation of PTM were external constraints in the form of increasingly loose health protocols in the community  , while internal constraints in the form of limited facilities and staff providing  lead to less than optimal implementation of health protocols.  In addition, the attendance capacity of students in class is limited to 50% and learning starts at 07.00-09.00 for 50% of the first class and 09.30-11.30 for 50% of the second class.  PTM with strict health protocols causes the learning process and learning outcomes to be less than optimal.  The principal as a leader in the school in dealing with external and internal problems always coordinates with related parties so that PTM running properly and expeditely. Keywords: Teacher's Response; Student Response; PTM

Abstract

Character education should be carried out from an early age to children, because early  childhood is the golden age of early childhood development whose success will determine the quality  of children in their adult years. So, the role of parents is very important in providing character education  to early childhood. The purpose of this study is to describe the importance of the role of parents in  character education for early childhood. The method in this study uses the method of library research  (library research). The results of the study indicate that the role of parents is a determining factor for  the development of children both physically and mentally, because the role of both parents is the first  and foremost educator for children who are born until they grow up. In providing knowledge through. parenting conveyed by parents is very important. Education in the family plays a very important role in  developing children's character, personality, morals, religious and cultural values, and simple skills. The  role of a parent in influencing the character of a child is no longer borne by the mother. The role of the  father in the formation of the child's character is also very large, the father is still obliged to take care  of and interact with his child, such as inviting him to talk, joke, and play. Keywords: The role of parents; early childhood; character education

Abstract

The research’s purpose to analyze using of the surrounding environment as student learning media. The bathroom is one part in the student's home. The bathroom can be an alternative for the student learning process. The various parts of the bathroom make it an alternative to the thematic learning process. Therefore, an experiment about use the bathroom as student learning media. The first step was using school bathrooms and the students can continue their learning in their home independently. The results obtained the first time, students have a sense of care to cleanliness and saving water.. The concept of the bathroom as a place to study, that can use floor tiles or bath measurements. Students can also get story inspiration by learning to describe the bathroom atmosphere. The use of the study room in the bathroom is certainly a breakthrough form of thematic learning media that is friendly and of course cheap. In addition, the use of learning media is not monotonous in the classroom. That's because learning can be done with anyone, anytime and anywhere. Keywords: instructional media; bathroom; environment

Abstract

Karakter, terutama yang positif merupakan suatu hal yang sangat penting bagi kemajuan bangsa, karena karakter akan berpengaruh terhadap sikap dan perilaku sehari-hari. Hal yang relatif tetap dibutuhkan dalam setiap era adalah moralitas, karakter dan berpikir kritis. Pentingnya karakter ini sebenarnya sudah kita sadari oleh para pendiri negara. Pendidikan karakter harus sampai kepada perasaan (moral feeling) dan tindakan  (moral action), sehingga orang akan merasa malu, salah atau dosa jika tidak melakukannya. Dari profil tersebut bisa dikategorikan menjadi kecerdaan moral (beriman, bertaqwa dan beraklaq mulia. Untuk mewujudkan tujuan pendidikan tersebut perlu melibatkan lembaga keluarga, masyarakat dan sekolah. Perlu ada pembagian tahapan dalam mewujudkan tujuan pendidikan nasional. Keluarga merupakan tempat untuk membangun karakter. Metode pendidikan karakter yang paling efektif adalah melalui pembiasaan dan keteladanan. Oleh karena itu, guru harus menjadi role model dari moral dan karakater yang baik. Abstract

Character learning is a planned effort to improve a good personality. The purpose of this study is to reveal the concept of discipline applied at MI Nihayatul Amal Gunungsari, Cirebon Regency as a reference for other research that has a similar research concept. The research method used is descriptive analysis using interviews and observations to obtain research data. The results of the study reveal that in the implementation of character education with disciplined values, the teacher has carried out his role as an exemplary educator in setting an example that can be applied by students. Discipline in the teacher is very important to shape the character of good students, such as coming to school on time, using good and polite speech, and wearing neat, clean and polite clothes, so that students have followed the discipline that the teacher applies by example. The teacher also acts as a motivator to provide rewards and punishments as a motivation for students to generate a sense of responsibility towards discipline and as an appreciation in shaping the character of students' discipline at school. Thus, the important role of teachers as modeling in schools is one of the important factors in instilling the value of discipline for students at MI Nihayatul Amal Gunungsari, Cirebon Regency. Keywords: Character education; exemplary teacher; discipline

Abstract

This study aims to explore how to integrate Islamic values and national values at the Darussalam Islamic Boarding School Martapura, Al Falah Islamic Boarding School Platform Ulin Banjarbaru and Darul Hijrah Islamic Boarding School Cindai Alus Banjarbaru. This study uses a type of field research (field research) and uses a qualitative approach with data described descriptively. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique uses data reduction techniques, data display and data verification. The results of this study can be seen that the integration of Islamic values and national values is through the curriculum, through learning materials and processes, integration through competitions to commemorate Indonesian Independence Day and extracurricular activities. The curriculum consists of two curricula, namely the cottage curriculum and the State curriculum, this proves that there is an integration of the two values. In the cottage curriculum, maximum religious values are instilled and the country's curriculum is involved in the service, then the values of nationalism are automatically instilled. Activities outside or in the field are holding activities on August 17, a national day, there are commemorations on August 17 and that is the forerunner to be repeated every year.
