Abstract

Technological advancements require teachers to be more creative in developing interactive and engaging teaching materials. However, in many schools, teaching materials are still dominated by printed books without any digital media variations. This community service activity aims to improve teachers' skills in developing and implementing Science E-Modules using Heyzine Flipbooks and to assess students' responses to their use. The methods used included discussion, mentoring, and practice, which were carried out in three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The results of the activity showed that teachers felt helped in converting printed modules into more interactive E-Modules, and students gave very positive responses with an average score of 85%, categorized as very practical and engaging. In conclusion, the use of flipbook-based Science E-Modules is effective in improving the quality of science learning at the junior high school level and can be an alternative solution in the development of digital teaching materials.

Abstract

The application of the concept of ethnoscience is basically inseparable from culture, it is necessary to develop an information medium and learning by applying an ethno-scientific approach. The aim is to introduce and preserve scientific values related to local culture, especially artifacts from the rice barns of the Bayan Beleq community in North Lombok. The method used in collecting data in this study uses observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the research are that the process of building rice barns is not made haphazardly and must pay attention to several scientific aspects such as, selecting wood that is strong and termite resistant, placing the barn which must face west to get sufficient sunlight so that the room temperature is not humid and avoids the growth of fungi which can damage the quality of rice. This research is relevant as a culture-based science learning medium that can connect scientific concepts with local wisdom, while also supporting the preservation of traditional heritage.

Abstract

This community service program through the Kampus Mengajar Batch 6 at SDN 1 Mataram aims to improve students’ literacy and numeracy skills by implementing contextual and participatory activities. The program was developed in response to low national literacy and numeracy scores among primary school students. This initiative involved university students collaborating with the school community to design and conduct various engaging learning activities. The methods used followed a descriptive-participatory approach based on Community-Based Service Learning (CBSL), focusing on real problems, collaboration, and sustainability. Key activities included Literacy-Numeracy Games, Reading Corner, KUBACADA (Reading at the Library), and Learning Out of Class (LOOCs) such as tie-dye making and planting. These interventions were observed to increase student motivation, engagement, and conceptual understanding. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ post-test scores, supported by positive responses from teachers and the school principal. This program demonstrates the effectiveness of student–school partnerships in creating meaningful learning experiences and promoting literacy and numeracy culture in schools. The approach is practical, cost-effective, and replicable, offering valuable insights for future educational programs aiming to strengthen foundational skills in Indonesian primary schools.

Abstract

The halal certification assistance program for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) producing traditional medicine aims to enhance entrepreneurs’ understanding of the importance of halal product assurance. This initiative was carried out by the Participatory Work Lecture (KKP) team of the State Islamic University of Mataram using the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach. The program focused on MSEs in Peresak Village that produce traditional herbal medicines made from local plants, particularly Tegining Teganang (Cassia Planisiliqua). This plant is known for its medicinal benefits, such as treating burns, skin itching, sprains, and venomous bites. The assistance included several stages, starting with halal certification socialization, verification of ingredients and production processes, and technical guidance for submitting halal certification applications. The results indicate that entrepreneurs gained greater awareness of halal certification requirements and its positive impact on product value and consumer trust. Furthermore, the program contributed to improving the competitiveness of traditional herbal products in the halal market and encouraged MSEs to manage their products more professionally.

Abstract

Waste management has become a growing concern in rural coastal areas of Indonesia, including in Kebon Bongor Hamlet, Lembar Village, West Lombok Regency, where the accumulation of household waste particularly organic waste has led to environmental degradation and declining community health. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of environmental education programs implemented in the area as an effort to improve community awareness and sustainable waste practices. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method through observation, interviews, and documentation to explore community participation and behavioral changes. The program integrated four main activities: mangrove planting to strengthen coastal ecosystems, establishment of a reading corner to enhance environmental literacy, socialization and demonstration of stacked buckets as a practical household composting technique, and the production of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) from organic waste to support local sustainable agriculture. The results indicate a notable improvement in community awareness, knowledge, and behavior regarding environmentally friendly waste management. Moreover, the program fostered active community participation in environmental conservation and sustainable living practices. The study concludes that environmental education combined with direct practical engagement is more effective in promoting social transformation and environmental responsibility at the grassroots level. These findings suggest that similar integrative approaches can be replicated in other rural areas to strengthen environmental literacy and encourage sustainable waste management.

Abstract

Learning media functions to facilitate students' understanding of scientific concepts in a concrete and visual way. PjBL is one of the learning models recommended in the independent curriculum. This model focuses on projects (real tasks). In this case, community service activities were carried out at SMP Negeri 3 Labuapi. The purpose of this activity is to determine the response and level of student satisfaction with the food chain board learning media. The activity method used is the service method which includes three steps, namely: preparation, implementation and evaluation. After the training activities were completed, all participants were asked to fill out a training assessment questionnaire. Then, the data obtained was analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. The results of this research show that students responded very well to the learning media that had been created and developed. This can be seen from the average score of 83.73% or rounded up to 84%, which is in the Strongly Agree category. Therefore, it can be concluded that the socialization activities and use of food chain board media located at SMP Negeri 3 Labuapi went very well and satisfactorily.

Abstract

The declining interest of education students in pursuing a teaching career raises concerns about the future availability of qualified teachers, leading to the need to examine the factors influencing students’ career choices. This study aims to analyze the extent to which perceptions of the teaching profession, the family environment, and experiences in the School Field Introduction (SFI) affect students’ interest in becoming teachers. The research involved 82 students of the Economic Education Program selected through proportional random sampling. Data were analyzed using instrument testing, classical assumption testing, and multiple linear regression analysis. The results show that perceptions of the teaching profession, the family environment, and SFI experiences simultaneously have a positive and significant effect on students’ interest in becoming teachers. Partially, perceptions of the teaching profession and SFI experiences showed significant positive effects, while the family environment did not. The study concludes that strengthening positive perceptions and providing meaningful field experiences are key to increasing students’ interest in the teaching profession. These findings imply that universities and policymakers should design programs that enhance students’ professional perceptions, increase family support, and optimize PLP implementation to encourage more competent and motivated prospective teachers.
